9,700 RPM for the string trimmer, that's in gas territory! No other cordless, even Ego, goes over 6,500-7,000 RPM.

That is the motor rpm not the head rpm. The trimmer attachment model EM400MP has a gear ratio of 14:19 so the head rpm is about

    7150 rpm.

Hitachi and Metabo have designed a new Metabo triple hammer impact and supposedly it is not a rebrand Hitachi either. It's supposed to be better than the Hitachi version. It will be built in Germany and use a Japanese built triple  hammer motor.

I think the Multivolt (36v) Hitachi version will still beat it.

@dmz2084 each cell is individually wrapped to keep cooler.

Like the procore the ego 9.0 is not out yet far as I know. It was just announced at GIE Expo 2017.

That has been mentioned in promotion but you are close the the specific detail.

Yeah there are several different bases. But replace a base isn't an adjustable base I think ? :P

Gonna check on the variable trigger today.

Is the trigger variable on the Makita. I guess the tool Dwain is thinking about is the Bosch brushless orbital reciprocating saw.

This might only be of interest to Aussie's but I just came across this Sidchrome drill on clearance on Ebay for only $59 AUD (drill only). I can't find much info about it, but it looks to be a rebranded Dewalt, very similar to the DCD780 but with a metal chuck like the DCD791.

It almost looks like Dewalt and Milwaukee got together and had a drill baby.

Batteries and charger look to be identical to Dewalt.

They're re-branded Mac Tools. Sidchrome,  Facom and Mac Tools are all owned by Stanley Black & Decker just like Dewalt and use its battery platform.

As far as I know, it's Bosch (12V and 18V), Milwaukee M12, Festool, Metabo and Fein.

Bosch, Milwaukee and Festool have a few different types of chucks (right-angle, offset, 1/4" bit holder etc)

Metabo have a quick change chuck, but the only compatible 'chucks' are the little 1/4" 'bit holder it comes with, and the huge torque multiplier, so I assume you don't mean that.

FEIN also have a removable chuck with a little 1/4" hex bit holder. Come to think of it, maybe they have other chucks, but I don't remember seeing any.

Metabo also has several angle adapters.

Aeg has 12V and 18V drills with quick change chucks including right angle and offset (in Europe at least).

Realistically, why are you even considering anything lower than a 4ah battery for high drain tools?

You don't really but some tools with the black star battery terminal aren't actually high drain tools.

Yeah. They already pissed off users by not having backwards compatibility on their older tools with higher capacity batteries, as well as those tabs that stop users from using 1.5Ah batts on high-draw tools. AND they've never brought 2Ah slim batts to Australia and other places. Also one of the very last to put battery indicators on. Now this.

C'mon Makita, pick up your battery game!

To be fair its the older 1.3ah BL1815 with no star protection that doesn't fit on high drain tools but the newer 1.5ah BL15n does fit.

Samsung inr18650 25r are good cells. They support a max of 20A discharge.

What about the Sony cells? What model is it?

I heard that Bosch batteries are the best and last the longest and that Makita's batteries are the worst and die pretty quickly

Sony US18650VTC5 in the 5AH and Sony US18650VTC4 in the 4AH

Do they still use Sony since the batteries have a fuel gauge ?

Just might have been a coincidence of course but the Few batteries I opened up since the fuel guages ( only 3 batteries I think ) were samsung

What batteries were they. All my 2.0s and 4.0s with fuel gauges (from 2016)  have Sony cells. Two non gauge 5.0s from 2014 have the blue Samsung 25r cells. A non gauge 5.0 from 2015 has Sony cells. A 1.5 from 2015 and 1 from 2016 both have Samsung 15m cells. I have seen Sony cells in the 6.0s. I don't know about newer manufactured packs though.

One thing I have noticed is that my batteries with Samsung cells have a QR code next date code and serial number and the ones with Sony cells don't have a QR code and the date code and serial number are look ingraved instead of being printed.
