  1. im leaning towards this vs the dewalt Xr series just dont want to pre order something then read a review a week later finding some major flaw or that its not as good etc..... im also debating buying this combo or just get a brushless m18fuel drill cons are its larger heavier and only 1 tool vs impact and drill for close to same price
  2. anyone buy this kit or see it out in the wild yet? i still havent bought a combo set yet (lots of stuff going on etc) i tried out the dewalt xr series but im waiting to try out or at least read a review or watch a comparison vid ..
  3. i didnt pre order but im very close to ... its weird dewalt has better impact bits (flextorq) and milwaukee might have better drills might have to mix them up ..i am debating waiting for reviews and head to head tests against the dewalt xr compact 20v series or just taking the leap and pre ordering these..
  4. yeah i wanted something more powerful than m12 but m18 fuel is overkill for my needs this and the dewalt xr compact series fit my bill... now that big red has a set coming o9ut im gonna wait for the reviews and comparisions
  5. Milwaukee has a new compact series which looks like direct competition for dewalts compact XR 20v series theres is a dril/driver an impact a sawzall and a hammer drill.. looks to be priced exactly the same as the XR dewalt series as well at $269 for a combo kit.. any takers? i will be giving this a good hard look since i was looking at the XR series http://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-tools/combo-kits/2798-22ct

  7. here is the info from milwaukee http://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-tools/combo-kits/2798-22ct
  8. milwaukee is releasing a new set of tools called m18 compact they are comparable to the dewalt xr compact 20v series would it be worth picking this up for $269? you can preorder the milwaukee combo kit (out march 1st) but its $269 would it be better than the dewalt combo? http://www.acetoolonline.com/Milwaukee-2798-22CT-M18-Compact-Drill-Combo-Kit-p/mil-2798-22ct.htm
  9. you can preorder the milwaukee combo kit (out march 1st) but its $269 would it be better than the dewalt combo? http://www.acetoolonline.com/Milwaukee-2798-22CT-M18-Compact-Drill-Combo-Kit-p/mil-2798-22ct.htm
  10. well i already planned on dropping $300 on my impact or drill set.. are there any better deals out there under $300? and brushless adds like 50% more runtime and no parts to break
  11. i was really trying to get something future proof and brushless
  12. yeah but the new milwaukee compacts will be like $200 each and no combo sets out .. i mean i can wait but from reading the tech specs the dewalt has more torque and weighs less
  13. what do you guys think of something like this to start me off .. (all my other bits are non impact and assorted brands etc) http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DWA2T40IR-FlexTorq-Driving-40-Piece/dp/B00GMXFK3G http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DD5060-IMPACT-Drilling-10-Piece/dp/B002LF9120/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1424470077&sr=1-1&keywords=DD5060
  14. yeah its basically a free drill for the price of an impact .. i just didnt know if i really need 2 tools or can basically do everything i want with just an impact.. i basically just drill pilot holes from time to time and thought maybe get the better impact etc..
  15. i have been trying to decide between m18 fuel milwaukee or dewalts lineup.I just read now milwaukee will have a "compact" line rolling out march 1st.. its pretty similar to the XR series from dewalt.. In my travels i found out that the dewalt flex torq line is better than the red shockwave bits etc and for my personal DIY and household woodworking things probably dont need a full sized m18 etc... im trying to decide between the DCF985 impact (like that it can accept 1in bits for super tight spaces and has a push button bit ejector) and the 3 speeds for small fasteners and 3 leds $229 at home depot with charger and 2 2.0 batteries or the DCK281D2 which is a combo kit with the DCD790 20-volt max 1/2 in. drill/driver, and DCF886 20-volt max 1/4 in. impact driver on sale for $259 for 2 tools charger and 2 2.0 batteries i know an impact can drill etc and i do fasten more than i drill but this will be my first impact and im not sure which deal is better ... 2 tools for a lil bit more or 1 impact with more features... i will primarily be fixing DIY stuff around the house and light woodworking projects and cabinets etc birdhouses dressers etc..
  16. hey i know this is a yellow one but i just tried it in the store with 31/2 in torx screws in a 6x6 and it was pretty sweet they have it as a set http://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-20-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Brushless-Compact-Drill-DCD790D2/204210639?srccode=cii_15053889&cpncode=42-5258904 and as a combo set with an impact for about what i was going to pay for the m18 drill alone..how is their track receord lately or should i just stick with the milwaukee 2 tool set on sale http://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-20-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Combo-Kit-2-Tool-DCK281D2/204210688
  17. also if the shockwave series isnt that great what would you recommend (i want to completely start over with my driving bits and drill bits) i saw some nice 50-100 pc sets but unsure of whats not gonna break or strip
  18. thanks for the replys :0 i saw you mentioned the m12 series... interesting story i bought the original m12 series (not fuel or brushless) and i was less than happy with it .. home depot has some crazy deals on m12 with free tools etc also i noticed this brushless m12 impact and drill driver set ..the small size would be a plus since i do alot of small work on my bench etc but have they really fixed their power and battery issues? 2594-22 http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M12-FUEL-12-Volt-Lithium-Ion-1-2-in-Drill-Driver-and-Impact-Combo-Kit-2594-22/204848129 or just the m12 drill/driver and a 2.0, 4.0, and a free 4.0 battery combo http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M12-FUEL-1-2-in-Drill-Driver-Kit-with-Free-M12-4Ah-Extended-Capacity-Battery-2403-22-48-11-2440/205810101 it starting to look like i just need a drill/driver so should i go m18 set with 2 batteries or would the lower m12 series be ok? i worry about lower voltage models crapping out on me etc in those rare occasions i need to drive a 3 in screw etc... (my yellow drill has failed me many times)
  19. Hey guys new poster here anyways im looking at the m18 fuel brushless series to replace my old 14.4 yellow drill which doesnt hold a charge. I do some light woodwork (shelves small projects etc) and regular diy house stuff.I am not sure if i should stick with a drill/driver or get an impact.. I am considering the 2653-22ct http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-FUEL-18-Volt-Brushless-Lithium-Ion-1-4-in-Hex-Impact-Driver-Compact-Battery-Kit-2653-22CT/203272114 and the 2603-22ct http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-Fuel-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Brushless-1-2-in-Drill-Driver-Compact-Battery-Kit-2603-22CT/203221910?N=5yc1vZc7jjZzvZ1z0ulnw can i get away with just one? i have litte exp with impacts (other than playing with them at home depot screwing in a piece of demo wood) they seem really nice im a tiny bit concerned of the noise and control on small fasteners in weaker woods or sheetrock but i also know the 3 speed milwaukees are supposed to be good for that..i can really only afford one ($275 budget plus new shcokwave bits etc) which one will be the better overall choice ( i screw more than i drill but will still need to drill holes from time to time) if you had to pick one which would it be? or should i maybe get a combo set and save up for it ... any thoughts or tips would be great!
