Hmmm, I struggle to buy any of those things. I had a pair of the pliers wrenches and used them like once before they were reappropriated by someone in need of more emphatamines. I just don't see where they would be more useful than an open end wrench or the cobras more useful than channel locks.

That sucks someone else needed them more.

I thought it was almost a gimmick untill I got my first pair of plier wrenches, last week. The week before or so I bought some other knipex tools an liked them as well.

To me plier wrenches are one of those tools that aren't needed but it's nice to have. It's more of a convience thing depending upon what job your doing. I don't think they will ever replace a open end wrench or adjustable wrench.

  2. I bought a Proto set with 1/2 an 3/8 of both metric an sae. I wana say it was like 80 or 90 pieces. I also bought some extensions. They weren't cheap but good tools aren't cheap. They were still cheaper then buying a snap on set.

I keep saying I am gonna get some unervisal joint ones as well, that hasn't happened thoe.

  3. Lincoln electric has a technology called checkpoint. It basically monitors how we weld. The management can pull it up on there phone an say why was the machining idling for a hour or why was the wire feed speed high or why did you only get x inches of weld from x spool of wire. It can do all sorts of stuff.

My company doesnt use it that much. When we first got it implemented on a few machines people were all happy. A few months went by an they realized it's just overboard by many standards. Perhaps in a big production shop it might help more.

One of our best welders was fired from a factory job after shown his checkpoint report. HIs though is if management came out there office an instructed him on what to do to improve it wouldn't be a issue.

I've been lucky enough to never experience the journeyman grips slipping off. However I have known people who have had that problem. The Klein distributors always warrantied them. I don't think that justifies the issue at all though. I'll definitely be picking up some more German tools from know on. It's just so easy for me to walk into one of the three electrical suppliers in town, (excluding the hardware stores) and pick up just about any particular Klein electrical hand tool I'm needing to replace, or add.

Does klien warranty them? I was told at were I bought them only the tool is warranted an not the plastic handles. I thought it was wrong of them but said whatever. They still sit in the garage somewere. If I could I would love to warranty them.

They were great pliers. I am not a electrician but used them a lot.

the grip slides right back on an slides right back off with normal use. I do have other tools  in the journeyman series with no issues.

My right hand is pretty weak when it comes to being able to use it for stuff.

Thats how I use to be. It just took a lot of getting used to.

  6. I am left handed but can use either hand if needed.

For welding my instructor made us all use are opposite hand one class. He suggested doing it that way for a few weeks if wanted. It sounded crazy at first but I could see the logic behind it. Almost everything except my job at the time I did right handed. It took about a month to get good with my right hand.

Nowdays I can use either hand when needed. Some positions in welding it helps if you can use either hand. Lots of times its in confined spaces or up against a corner.

I still primarily use my left hand but have that ability.

Making things is always better when thousands see your work! Especially when you get to say,  "Ya i built that".

I usually get a response of you tree killer, or something along those lines. My company services oil an natural gas wells. Lots of people love to complain about it but end of the day you can thank guys like me for keeping the gas flowing.

It's like every brand you get hooked onto grows into a whole drawer of tools. I already have 2 pairs of hk Porter mini bolt cutters. Never used the knipex version but look similar from quik look of picture.

Proto is my overall favorite brand. Most of my hand tools are Proto. There ones i don't like by Proto is there bulky style ratchets. All there other tools are great. I highly recommend Proto

Those are great for instalations and preserving the nut or bolt, where the cobras/alligators act as paint strippers lol

Another notable plier are the raptors, although they take some getting used to

Thats what I have heard an it seems like.
