Actually those two don't count because I have no love for them for other reasons too.  Of tools I like, miter saws are probably the worst because it's obnoxious to put on hearing protection for a half second cut, plus the ringing sound some of those blades make after a cut.

Like that ringing sound when you use an all steel hammer striking a nail.

  2. Ok its no secret we are all tool freaks here no point in hiding it ;D But lets be honest there has got to be that one tool you love using but the sound can be irritating sometimes for example, I was in a tight enough space today putting in some small lags with my impact driver and I forgot to bring some ear protection as using the impact driver in confined spaces is deafening but boy it is so grating surely I'm not the only one.

Another shout out would have to be the power planer just sounds like the wood is screaming for me to stop.

  3. OK I had it, was ripping some sheeting today and the sun was beating down on me and I was sweating buckets to get a job done so the day was drawing to an end and I guess I was been careless while cutting and I cut my circular saw cable in half, I was so pissed off with myself >:( I had to rip another two sheets down by handsaw.

So having said that I put in a pre order for the Flexvolt Circular saw with 2 6ah batteries. Im going cordless

That's a nice price but I have to import it and I don't think the warranty works over here in Ireland :(

Slick looking drill! What's the deal with dewalt's "nitro-carburized" chuck on the premium drill, what does that even mean?

Not sure but my understanding is that on the chuck jaws they are flat facets that help with drill bit slippage, I could be totally wrong.

Right now, using promo code "DEWALT20" on Toolup.com brings the price of 2x 6Ah Flexvolt batteries down to $159

Add another $40 of merchandise and you get free shipping. I'd be all over it if I lived in US!!

That's a good deal. Wish we had them offers here except its €186 for one or €320 ($357) for two ???

Its quite heavy its about the same weight of my milwuakee one key hammer drill. I clip the f/r switch sometimes if i dont pay attention but that happens on every tool i have 3xcept my hitachi. The drill feels like any other drill but my hitachi is number 1 in hand comfort. If i had to rate this thing 1 to 10 with my hitachi being 10 and the old 2604 fuel being 1 it would be a 7.

What model Hitachi are you comparing it to?

  8. If you can get your hands on an old Record vice before Irwin brought them out, In my opinion the best made bench vices around. I still have my fathers vice which he brought back in the early seventies and still rock solid today.

    Pick up something like this

About €580 in the UK for the kits. Thats just with the grinder, circular or reciprocating saw with 2 batteries and charger

I might give it a miss for a few months the prices might drop abit.

  11. I wouldnt worry OP any of today's tools are more or less on par with each other, knowing how many holes a drill can do over its competitor is nonsense etc how it preforms in the working world is whats important. Its also down to personal preference.

You can either be the guy with all the fancy tools and no knowledge or the guy with some tools and lots of knowledge.

Wow, that's weird that Makita doesn't sell their premium drill and impact driver as a kit together. I

My thoughts exactly, surely selling their premium drill and impact as a kit would make a great seller?

I've never seen the DTD148 or TD170 in any kit.  Makita isn't very good about putting kits together.

Your not wrong there I can tell you.
