http://www.coptool.com/makita-announces-new-18v-cordless-tools-at-stafda-show/Alright, where's the vid?!
I have to "sign in" to view it? BOOOOO!!1!
And a link to toolguyd lists the vid as private.
It's cool that they're able to make a difference.

Alright, where's the vid?!
-
FWIW, I got an M18 combo set from HD for Fathers Day. $170 in-store.
-
-
Makita had a big battery issue they tried to sweep under the rug, but that's been corrected.
What was the issue?
How long ago was this?
-
Plans to expand the line in the future?
Would a 40v drill/sawzall even be possible?
I pulled the trigger on the 20v trimmer...because...well...I needed a trimmer...and I figured if nothing else, I'd be able to utilize the 20v battery for other tools later in life....thus, having zero interest in the 40v design at the time.

Lowe's doesn't sell Milwaukee or Makita
Murdoch's sells ONLY DeWalt
Home Depot sells no Kobalt
Husky is found at Home Depot
Irwin at Lowe's
I've seen Black & Decker at both Home Depot and WalMart
Everyone sells Bostitch
Spyder random-Sawzall-blades are found only at Lowe's
What gives?
Do different manufacturers enter into exclusive retailer contracts?
Does that alter your buying habits insofar as only hitting one place to buy gear and random supplies?
-
A n00b here....DeWalt's 40v-line is all yardwork tools, correct?
-
Here's some of my collection I use at work almost daily
What sort of set-up do you have going on for your battery storage? Something fabricated or purchased?
-
Double post. UGH.
-
Milwaukee owns all!
HA!
-
i also enjoy watching "Flip or Flop" - no clue why hahaha
Cuz the lady's hot...and the dude's a tool...."I'LL JUST FILL IN THIS OLD POOL WITH BRICKS!11!"
And what they're able to accomplish is pretty impressive.

my sister had a friend that was contacted by the holmes show and they were astonished by the requirements.....
first off whithout even visiting the home they wanted a secured $45,000 retainer in place with lawyers? then they had to agree on 30% more for variables plus they had to agree that the show....mike holmes had last say in design/product use.....
in other words if he is doing your house he is paid up front......and he gets to do what he wants.......
no mention of anything for you from the show..
same with house hunters show same sister was going to see if her and her husband go on it to buy a place in jamaica
they were told you had to have a place pre purchased and the other 2 places to be just staged they get $500 for the 4 hours of film time......
Ahhh...so the homeowner has to post $45K upfront before beginning construction?
-
Another one the old Milwaukee M18 brushed sawzall was nothing to write home about
Really? How so?
-
Anybody know who foots the bill for a Holmes reno/fix? I know it's commercial TV and all, but he's gotta be dropping $50K+ at times.
-
Good point.
One would assume that if the time was taken to review and speak decently of a tool, the same time would be taken if/when said tool then crapped out...
Could be that tools are getting upgraded constantly and the "older one" are getting lost in the shuffle..."Dude, this Milwaukee M12 Drill is DA BOMB...*six months later* DUUUDE!, this M18 FUEL is DA BOMB'ER!!1! *chucks M12 onto workbench never to be wielded again*
-
NOT trying to start a Flame War here...so, if that starts boo-for-you and I hope a mod shuts this down.
Alright.
Bad experiences.
New to the toolworld I'm asking guys I know their opinion on things..in trying to naildown a single platform in order to rock cordless...what handtools are worth the price and will get the job done...which inevitably leads into "ZOMG AND NEVER BUY *INSERT BRAND HERE*". With that, I try to pry and actual explanation, some times it works, and sometimes it doesn't.
Any tools or products that you've bought that either didn't live up to your expectation OR you were just flat-out disappointed with?
Any retailers, I'm speaking online mainly, that have shady/sketchy customer service or return policies?
Like I said, I'm not trying to come down and any one brand or any one business...for me, this is taking the path of least resistance and picking a collective brain that has years of experience...kinda like the battery question I asked...If I don't know something, I wanna do what I can to get in the know.
Thanks.

I feel the Kahr is the best shooting compact pistol for me. It does very well on 6" plates at 20 yards.
I've a PM9. You?

A couple of podcasts I enjoy...
http://www.homerepairtutor.com/ Short episodes a few times a week (via iTunes)
http://aceonthehouse.adamcarolla.com/ Carolla and his buddy Ray talk shop and home repair. Definitely NSFW (via iTunes)
Television Shows...
'Rehab Addict' Nicole Curtis renovates a couple of homes, pretty cool to watch (via Netflix)
'Holmes Inspections' Mike Holmes fixes stuff...the interesting part is the difference in code standards between the US and Canada (via Netflix)
Anything else I should check out?
-
Just curious.
Thanks.

I'll just leave this here...
