  1. i can usually relate my experiences at lowes to my walmart visits, while going to HD is more like going to Target. they both get the job done, but damn it's nice when people actually smile and are interested in helping you or just saying hi, which happens consistently at HD and rarely at lowes. price wise there's hardly a difference, and both are eager to price match to keep your business. i will say that even if HD wasn't a nicer place to visit, I would still choose them over lowes simply because their tool selection is way superior to lowes.

  2. Stumbled across this online-only deal. Seems like a good value at $239 for all the tools, although I can't personally speak to their quality since i've never used the dewalts. not sure who would need 2 12v impacts and a 12v drill, but they're offering it if you want it!

  3. One of amazon's deals of the day is the Bosch 12v drill/driver and impact combo kit for $119. nothing particularly mind-blowing about the specs on either of these tools, but seems like a solid value if you're looking to get into a 12v line and don't dream of red, although I'm sure it will come down in price even more towards the holidays.

11% discount via giftcard rebate, good through this Saturday 10/10/15:

this is great info! my area rarely has the deals that i have seen others posting about, but at least now i'll know what to be on the lookout for.

what is the deal with the giftcard rebate you linked to? is that good for any purchase made at HD between those dates? it's not really clear after reading the fine print on the form, and i don't see any real info about this promotion on HD website.

  5. agreed with most of you guys... tape measures, flashlights, and not really by choice, but #2 phillips since they seem to be packaged with everything i buy.

i'll piggyback on the shockwave hate... got caught up buying all kinds of milwaukee product after i fell in love with my m12 and m18s, but holy crap do the shockwave bits suck. they just never seem to grip properly.

  6. Just was at my local Home Depot, M12 jigsaw baretool was on clearance for $75. Price is not online in stores only.

i'd say the price will still drop closer to the holidays, or it will at least be included in some kind of free tool promotion milwaukee frequently runs. as a bare tool $75 doesn't really strike me as a great deal. i was able to pick up the kit with battery, charger, and case last year as one of home depot's daily deals for $59, which i would say is an awesome deal. unless you need it i'd say wait a couple months for the great holiday deals to start.

  7. Good point...my use for it is not necessary daily use. But I have the mindset to purchase something the will last me forever. Unfortunately, this is not my trade and I wouldn't be beating it up as much as most people will probably do but I don't want to be in a situation that I couldn't do something because I decided to purchase a brushed model. (as an example).

In the end, I don't mind to spend more if experts like all of you tell me that I should go brushless and don't look back. :)

like you, i'm an occasional use guy. i like to think i'm handier than the average guy, but by no means am i using my tools daily, sometimes not even weekly. i love more power, better features, longer runtime, and everything else the newer versions of tools bring to the table, whether brushed or brushless, but the reality is that even the entry level m12 offerings would compete quite well with many of the entry level 18v drills that came out only a few years ago. of course they can't come close to competing with current 18v lineups or the m12 fuel versions, but they're not supposed to. there's always going to be something better, but the trick is finding the right balance that puts the best tool FOR YOU in your garage. i have the m18 line, too, but i rarely reach for them because the m12 has just never let me down. it's not that common, at least for me, to need that much torque for my around-the-house jobs. regardless of what you choose, i don't think you're going to be disappointed with any of the current milwaukee tools.

  8. So the 3 tools doesn't entice anyone? :) Especially with the cost.

Nope. The "cost" of 169 is actually not that great a deal. the drill and impact combo is routinely available for 99 if you're on the lookout for it, and last year that 99 bucks got you 3 batteries instead of the usual 2, and 1 of them was the XC. not sure what 3rd tool options are included in the deal you're referring to, but the price difference of 70 between this deal and the one i usually see would easily buy you one of the more common bare m12 tools. unless you need any of these tools asap, i'd suggest waiting for the holiday sales since milwaukee and home depot usually partner to put out some really good priced (albeit entry-level) kits.

my point is pointless if you decide to go brushless, though. personally i don't have experience with the brushless line so i cant comment, but the brushed models have been great to me for 3+ years now. they can tackle most of the around the house jobs i have.

  9. Some of you have seen a recent post about my multi tool dieing (if not, see link below)

Milwaukees E-service was easy to follow and painless to complete..less then 8 days there it was patiently waiting for me to come home!!! (:

Nothing like tearing into a box and the new tool smell

Instead to fixing mine they jus sent a new one and no questions asked!!

Process from start to finish was easy and painless..curious as to what other companies warranty claims are like..feel free to leave your expirences below!!!

that's fantastic! same thing happened when my jigsaw broke last year, they gave me a brand new one.

i imagine this has something to do with turnaround time. they know people need their tools so they would rather make a lifetime customer out of someone by sending them a new tool asap instead of making them wait for their actual tool to be fixed, cause who knows how many tools are being shipped to them on any given day and how long it might take once your tool hits the queue. plus this gives them the opportunity to sell reconditioned tools.

  10. This is the entry-level brushed model, 2407, and the kinda new bluetooth speaker. Since it comes with 2 batteries I would say this is a pretty good deal if you're interested in the speaker. Holidays will likely bring similar deals with other tools instead of the speaker, but if you are interested in getting into the M12 line right now, this is a decent deal to take the plunge on. It's actually available online too, so that's alot nicer than running around to find the deal.
