I think until Milwaukee fixes the problem it will be an important subject... the only reason I posted this thread was to warn people that these drills/motors have a problem. Lot of people depend on these tools to make a living. they have left me stuck on jobs several times. we must complain about problems or they will never get fixed too.. I just wish i came across this thread a couple of years ago. it would have saved me lots of money and headaches. Milwaukee put on such a great show at the store.. the marketing is top notch..but the overheating is a real buzz kill.. and nothing has changed yet..

well the new design is badly needed.. nice info..thx. i thought fan boys were going to jump on me for saying that.. I figured i would have to make a video with a thermo camera showing the difference between manufactures and tool temps..under same work load. but everyone seems to agree on this problem. Milwaukee as well I said all along that, i felt it was the temperature of the tool that caused premature failure.,,not drywall dust, not blowing out the motors. when a drill gets so hot you cant even grasp the top of it (were the motor is)...(you have a problem) the tools are fine for a light user but not a heavy user.. sure my grandfather could get 20 years out of a Milwaukee drill,,, but not me. the warranty covers them from having to take responsibility for the bad design too..which makes me not trust them. even with the new cooler design. i will not buy Milwaukee. at least not until Makita or DeWalt try and pull the same crap... not covering normal wear and tear. ..reminds me of the 10 warranty you get on some brands of fertilizer ..if you know what i mean. I sure miss the selection Milwaukee has though. Makita has horrible selection of cordless tool easily available..but i know the tools wont let me down,

they sold to Techtronic.in 2oo6.. so its been 10 years. not sure what that would do with anything..? Chinese company buys them . you don't think anything would change? thanks for the tip on Hilti they make amazing tools... but they are not readily available .and very expensive. I am not having problems anymore though. i have stopped using Millwaukee... makitas and delwaults seems to not break on me.. i have yet to break one since I switched...and they run much cooler,

you guys take it for what it is.. im not here to piss off any fan boys.and im not here to make stuff up either. im just telling my experience with Milwaukee..if you like Milwaukee and it works for you,, that great.. I am still using my One Makita drill and one hammer drill. those two drill have out lasted all 6 of my Milwaukee combined and i see no sign of problems any time soon.. same work load . I will say again Milwaukees work great and have the best selection and inventory by far..they just don't last for me.. i have posted pictures of these tools,,,even apart.. if you think im making this up. you are delusional... here is a picture of a new Milwaukee motor and a older Dewault motor see anything different.. my biggest worry about Milwaukees is,,, they get super hot..my Makita doesn't and Milwaukees from 5 years ago are not the same. different company. Chinese don't just make them. they own the company too..

i already got that inexpensive option and am very happy. thanks.. i dont think it is the trigger because the 3 power setting just above the battery dont even light up..they used to without pressing the trigger....it could be trigger but doubt it..

qoute( I can't figure out why you don't go to Milwaukee direct with warranty issues, the first time a company denies me of a dead tool within it's warranty time frame will be the last time.....I've been around power tools corded and or otherwise to know how to treat them if it dies chances are it won't be my fault and there will be nobody that says otherwise... ) because even if i did get them repaired they don't last long enough to be worth it.. i cant send them back in every few month to get repaired..i just want a tool i can trust that lasts...i have lost all my faith in Milwaukee to the point were.. its not even worth getting repairs..cutting my losses.. and trying to warn other not to make this same mistake.

I didn't know that.. they gave me crap about returning the one I bot a few days before..I did see the 90 days on my new Makita stuff.. if they had that back then I didn't know about it. I will take apart a dead Fuel impact drill today and see why it failed...I used it for about 4 month before it died ..

yes my Makita does not get nearly as hot as the Milwaukee's did..It used to really worry me and I would give it a break,, but it took forever to cool down. That is the main reason I had 4 drills ...to let the hot ones cool down.. but didn't matter.. still failed

that's good I would hope they don't sell cheaper models for depot..I will take some apart and see what failed..start with the blower. since I don't care to send them back again and fight with Milwaukee.. I know its dusty its a blower.. im not going to clean it up for the picture.. I want to keep it real. this is the part needed to fix on ebay..cant find in on Milwaukee's site http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/271931497500?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true

too bad we couldn't just trade....lol. what you say makes sense because there is no way Milwaukee could keep Its fan base with the tools I have.. that's is kind of screwed though.. do they see home depot customers as armatures . that alone makes me not like Milwaukee.. as far as Makita.. I can see a huge difference in quality. but these tools change so fast year by year..its hard keeping up with. I agree the Makita with the white on them were not as good..from what I remember. beforethat they were horrable.. but they did start the whole cordless thing. but like I said I have put my one Makita through the same treatment that my Milwakees (dead) went through all 6 of them combined..that sais a lot.. I feel I don't have to take 4 drills to a job because I don't trust them not to break.

I would like to add.. I find it very dirty that Lowes doesn't carry Makita and or Milwaukee .. too much competition may lower the price..gotta hand it to Dewalt though.. both stores sell.. Dewalt .. makes me think I should have gone with Dewalt but too late..and im happy with Makita..

I use them for handyman stuff mostly.. drywall jobs maybe 2 a month..they do get dusty, but I blow them out after ever drywall job.. I think its just heat because they get hot,, really fast.. sometimes I can hardly put my had over the motor it gets so hot.. I notice my new Makita doesn't do that..I wished the Milwaukee still worked,,, I would do a comparison on temps with my thermal camera.. Im not easy on tools .. but I never had this problem before.,.I still have my old dewalt that still works... I used for 5 years plus..thats just one drill.. I had 6 Milwaukee's... I'm not pushing Makita or dewalt..or any manufacture.. just warning about Milwaukee.. Milwaukee does a great job of design and advertisement and they work great..but they did not last with me..but a few month.. (and a great job of hiding that they are a chinesse company made in china)..(Milwaukee, china ) sounds a little strange..like a chop stick company called Texas.. I read someone claiming the Home Depot Milwaukee cordless drills were .. not as good as the ones you get elsewhere..anyone read anything about that? or is that BS? Biggie,, those must be a better quality for some reason..i don't see how they could ..very odd..

I tossed the vacuum in the trash.. this is what I have left. as you see I am converting to Makita.

the jig saw is one that still works..but for obvious reasons I don't trust it. yes, I read about the switch problem but don't think that was what killed mine.. I think they just got hot. and fried.. I was surprised they denied it too though.. very surprised.. but like I said, even if they did fix them.. I cant take a drill on the job I cant trust..what good is a drill that's last just a month or two..don't have time to deal with it.. the drill are good for someone who rarely uses them that's it....I know what they can take and its not much.. my old Milwaukee stuff was great.. I just need a drill I don't have to send back . one that just works like advertised..which I found .. my goal here is to just warn people that these Milwaukee's are not what they used to be.. your getting a black n Decker quality drill at a Dewalt price..

I sent two back and they wanted $120.00 each to fix. said they were not covered under warranty. They failed from normal wear and tear.. those drills were only 1 month old.. I was so pissed.. that I went to Home Depot and bought another set and changed the insides, then returned the ones I bough the next day..but the drill with the new parts failed a few months later..I'm not using them that hard.. the worst I used them for was I dry walling a bathroom .. those drills were not fuel models.. so I then bought the combo Fuel models.. thinking that was my problem.. but they soon failed too... even if they fix them what good is a drill that last only a few months? not worth the postage... So I gave up on Milwaukee.. realized I had to get another manufacture.. decided to get Makita..the one Makita I got has lasted longer than all 6 of the Milwaukee's put together..thats no bull..I can take photos of my receipts if anyone has any doubt..

It cant just be me.. all my Milwaukee stuff has failed me in just a few months.... 4 drills in 4 month dead..and multiple other tools..(cordless) see pic.. I never had this problem with Dewalt or Makita.. looks like about $2000.00 in the trash.. (they don't cover normal wear and tear) how is that legal... ripped off (there were more tools than in picture but I already tossed them in the trash..)
