I'm an industrial electrician myself, and I've gotten by on setting 1 and 2 with the knowledge that in a dark room "bright is relative." Lol I love the tower light in dark gear and e-houses, and it pairs great with the magnetic personal light inside whatever I'm in, for task specific lighting. Actually planning on picking up another of each in the near future.

Kill a 9ah in roughly 4 hours, for me. Low setting will last a 12 shift on a fresh 6ah, and middle setting I can get through same shift on roughly a battery and a half 5/6ah.

I actually used it today, finishing dirt work and adjusting a handful of 1½" and 1" sched 40 pvc. Maybe half a dozen in total, and did em all on a single 5ah. Gotta be more careful of the lack of temp control, coming from my corded with 150-1100 to this ones "H-L" but it's already paid for itself in my book. No power for a couple hundred yards, and a storm blowing in while my fines dump was waiting on me. Good tool, good day [emoji106]

Opened it up, troubleshooting, and everything looks pretty pristine with no apparent damage. Seems to me that the resistance detection for precision mode is activating even with no load. I'll check into the anvil housing to see if maybe something dented and is actually causing resistance.

Can anyone tell me how precision mode is supposed to operate? Day one after receiving my impact and drill, the impact took a 30 foot drop to a concrete from a manbasket. Seems like my 90° adapter took the brunt of the impact, it's bent up pretty bad, but I expected speed one to behave like the same speed on my dcf887. Instead if I pull the trigger with just the impact in the air, it seems to run for a couple seconds, stop, then start back up with a little more power. Is this abnormal, and should I get a replacement coming?

It's very light, hard to explain but my corded lcd screen one just feels more substantial somehow. The heat shrink diffuser could be fitted a little more tightly, and I haven't determined how hard it is on a full battery yet, but I'm overall pleased with the design and feel.

There's some concern on the verbiage about the drill/driver's capacity for a "half inch spade bit," and I'm really hoping it's a mistake instead of saying it can chuck a half inch bit. If the EU nm specs I saw posted somewhere, were remotely accurate, then these 12v XRs are more capable than the current gen 2 fuel m12s. To boot, the marketing imagery for the drill shows it using a spade much larger than a half inch.

It seemed implied that saws were getting rereleased with hooks, in some coverage around the rear handle release. They did add a hook to the original sidewinder (don't recall if it was the 20 or 60 or both) but I remember being excited at reading that it was supposed to be most saws. Dewalt, while my preferred brand, unmistakably has a disconnect with the end users, and a history of delayed and abandoned follow through. Shame.I don’t understand why dewalt never put one on to begin with

Just the other day, I was eyeballing a company Milwaukee deep cut for its hook on my dewalt lol Only thing I envy. The dewalt is lighter, has continued though hard use while I've seen 2-3 of the milwaukees be discarded between two companies. The dewalt hook isn't useless, but its the least efficient design, short of not having one. Does hook on the back of my tough system dolly well for transport, though.have done that, and as you know, it barely grabs, unless you're on something thin. been there, dropped it! [emoji23]
i'm going to put a hook on my new flexvolt blower too. anything else that could use a hook? [emoji3]

That fire panel should be on a 20amp dedicated breaker, with a backup battery power supply (usually on board) that can remain powered for 24 hours on standby, then maintain at least 10 minutes of full alarm output. Nfpa72 is pretty specific, along with IBC (international building code), and nfpa70 or NEC (national electrical code). These are covered in depth under NICET I-IV Fire alarm and low voltage signaling systems.

But Lowe's isn't doing that. And sbd IS building craftsman, so I'm still unclear on the dug-in spite of craftsman. And this is the first I've heard craftsman considered a direct competitor of dewalt, and it obviously won't become one. There's something positive happening with a well known legacy brand, and some people are just bitter for... reasons? All I'm saying.

The idea is restoring the brand. Hence the new factory, and marketing. Crapsman from the past decade or two would not be worth a cent to any buyer. But craftsman, u.s. made, will certainly sell a hell of a lot better than most house brands and any sub professional lines out right now. Anything is just a name, but depending on SBD's execution, craftsman could very easily reclaim its past quality and its considerable market base that quality earned it. I don't understand why people feel the need to be a sourpuss about the brand. Best case, we get a great brand back and promote American jobs and production. Worst case, a deteriorated brand stays gone. Nothing SBD can do right now could make craftsman worse than it currently is. So unless Sears laid you off and stole your pension, you have a dead relative named craftsman who's memory you feel is being dishonored, or your purchaser/ warehouse has only buying you craftsman and its killing your bottom line/production, why all the poopy pants about the brand trying to come back? If you still have craftsman stock you're worried about, you've likely got bigger problems in your portfolio than that loli agree.
craftsman is just a name. thats it. as of late, craftsman was just rebranded chinese tools.
stanley black and decker paid big for that name, but there is nothing behind it. i'm not sure why stanley is wasting their time with that brand. take lowes for example, they removed most stanley tools, just to rename them to craftsman, like there'd be a waiting line for people to buy them. consumers arent stupid.

I'm curious how it's the same size as the 6. Got to be new cells, because there's no way you're adding 21700s in the same form factor. I'm surprised this has gone under the radar, given the battery wars as of late. Ditching 18650s was broadcast by almost every brand. I still find the sweet spot on 20v to be the 5s, personally. I'll throw a 6 on the 3 speed, or the 1/2" impact, but they are considerably larger than the 4/5s. I actually down graded the deep cut band saw to the new slim 3ah though, helps on weight and seems to do just fine.

Seems a little out of left field, but cool. As long as they don't try saying they've revolutionized pipe threading, like Milwaukee did. Pony threaders are handy on occasion, but are generally a terrible experience to use, and in the best circumstances require at least a tripod to lash it down to so the operator isn't destroying the pipe or getting thrown to the ground lol

The watts out on that thing must be pitiful. I think the inverter power supplies are cool, but I'm much more impatient for the 60v battery corded adapter. Where the heck is that?

Pistol grip you're describing is generally used only in high torque models and tasks. Hammer drills always come with them, and while I can't recall for sure I believe the non hammer drill varieties of premium drill drivers also come with forward handles, for their torque as well. Depending on your needs and expected usage, you can get plenty of more ergonomic, light weight, single handled or otherwise drills. Forward handle on the big premiums is also removable. I personally have my dcd996 for capability such as for auger bits and bigger hole saws, but much more often I'm using my compact dcd791or my makita subcompact drill/driver. Also to consider, the non hammer drill models are almost always shorter than the hammer drill versions. I say almost always, because I believe the gen 3 fuel claims to have the same dimensions for both the drill/driver and the hammer drill/driver. It's time to replace my 14-year old deWalt cordless drill and I'm deciding between corded and cordless. An important decider for me is how comfortable the drill feels in my hand.
I hoisted a cordless deWalt with an 18 volt battery, and it wasn't too bad. I thought a corded drill would be lighter, since there's no battery to lug around, but I was in for a surprise. The corded deWalt I held had a pistol grip, so most of the weight was in front of my hand, rather than on top of my hand. That made it harder to keep the drill level and it was not comfortable.
Am I misunderstanding something here? Like, is a corded drill supposed to be used with both hands? I learned that you should keep your hand well back of the chuck when drilling. And with both hands supporting the drill, I can't push on it from behind when additional pressure is needed.

Same. DeWalt's site doesn't list any vendors, acme doesn't list it, nor do Zoro or a handful of others and I've been searching forums for info on what the issue is, people complaining about it, anything lol but it seems I'm the only one on the hunt/dissatisfied at the moment. Had the box a month, but started planning the order months ago, and the lid compartments have been in the same state of non-existence for as long as I've been looking.I didn't see any vendors
