In case no one has not already submitted a repair inquiry to the Dewalt 5" Orbital Sander, when it stops working you'll pay another $87.00 for a replacement OR: remove the top ( 3 screws) which will expose the circuit board. There you'll find a power thyristor in a heat sink. It's a power management switching transistor. If you have a discreet soldering iron tip, remove it (or cut the three 'feet), order a #B1B10 replacement component from Amazon ( you'll get 10 for $10.00). Get the old one out and put in the new one.
