George L
Just bought a DCD796 combi drill which is the first DeWalt drill that I have ever owned or used. Checked it over and physically everything looks OK - It certainly is an impressive piece of kit. Just one thing I am not sure of and its related to the braking action which stops the rotation of the chuck as soon as you release the trigger. As long as there is some load on the drill when the trigger is released everything seems fine. But if there is no load the drill makes a considerable hammering noise as the trigger is released and the rotation comes to a stop. It's louder than when the drill is being used in hammer mode and sounds harsher than when the clutch is slipping when the drill is being used in torque-control mode. Is this normal or is my drill trying to self destruct?? Cheers, George.
