Nice hearing from you Wigwag. It's going well considering all the Covid drama I just hope to be back to work soon. The UTB was an awesome giveaway it definitely brought traffic to the fourm.

Its seems like in general belt sanders have fallen out of favor at the moment. Some of the new random orbit sanders are pretty aggressive with material removal. The only major brand right now that makes a cordless version is ridgid.

Ryobi is weird like that they will discontinue products at a whim. More than likely sales stagnated.

Don’t they say when not in use to put the red clip back on ,there way of getting out of a claim I am bugger for it I don’t all ways or leave it in the tool
I believe the red clip was just to make it legal for air transport.

It’s weird to me how fanboyism in tools sometimes rivals what I remember seeing in video game consoles. Some posts here aren’t significantly different from what I remember seeing from teenagers arguing PS2 vs GameCube back in the day.
When talking about light equipment, having an entirely different battery system makes a lot of sense. The amount of energy consumed necessitates MUCH bigger batteries. May as well optimize the voltage used along the way. It just is what it is. I don’t ding Milwaukee on this decision one iota.
The bit wars lol!!

Are you located in the USA? Because I know international tool prices are a lot more. You would be better off investing in a new lithium ion drill kit over the Holidays with the deals on a new kit over getting replacement batteries on a nicad tool.

This is total pro grade stuff. It was funny reading the Milwaukee FB group and guys angry that have really no use for it anyways not being able to afford it.

I would look into the Makita and Dewalt 12v tools, because they use a 12v slide pack the grips are smaller and thinner. Saws and sanders are more I would recommend visiting you local HD or Lowes to get a feel of them.

You might also want to call Ryobi some of the old blue drills have a recall related to the switch getting hot and melting. Like most recalls Ryobi will replace it.

I would look if the battery contacts on the tool are dirty corroded or bent.

When my business was larger and I had guys working for me I would buy Ryobi all day long. Theses guys did care how they abused them and they didn't have to pay for them. They worked well got the job done and when it took a dump it was cheap to replace. Fast forward to today it's just me and a helper I'm deep into Milwaukee but I have a few of the other colors thrown in there. The bottom line is buy what you like and what works best for you.
If I had to provide tools to guys Ryobi would be on the top of the list. If it gets broken or stolen yeah it sucks but your not out the big bucks like major tool brand. Also they just have so many tools. The only time is when you need something big like a hole hawg or bigger saw you have to jump to a bigger brand.

I follow the Milwaukee Facebook group and the hate for Ryobi is only eclipsed by Dewalt. Tool purchasing like trucks dosen't have to be that tribal, buy what you like. If it could be a GM product it would be appreciated they pay the bills.

Like Jimbo said they are people breaking up deals on kits for profit.

The only used tires I would use are what they call 90% take offs with a good date on them

Yep definitely sounds like a battery overloading situation.

I would try to see what they say MKE is pretty liberal at times with the warranty. The aux handle design isn't the best on the Milwaukee drills.

I used to be a huge Aots fan back in the day. Oliva Munn isn't bad looking either.

I would have liked to see an increase in rpm of the gen 3 drills. 2000 rpm is nice but when some others have over 3000 it is slow in comparison. They claim it is faster in high demand applications but I felt they didn't address low demand applications. I feel like the 2000 rpm is a bottle neck. It has so much power that it can drill something like a 1/2in hole with ease on high speed. I feel like it could easily handle the extra 1000 rpm.
On the gen 3 impact driver I would have liked to see more leds. Almost every premium brand has at least 2 leds on their impacts now.
I wish they would have released a version of the m12 multi-chuck drill that you can get in Europe. It would have been so handy.
I think they might need to add another gear to get the rpm's up with out effecting torque

I think the M18 SDS max took like a whole year before it was available and the higher capacity Ryobi packs took even longer.

All I'm hoping for is for Milwaukee to announce new tools that actually are available in the relatively near future. Announcing things that may come out in April 2019, but then slip to July 2019 is incredibly annoying. Perhaps I'm spoiled by short development cycles in the tech industry, but can you imagine the blowback if Apple announced a spiffy new toy that you couldn't even order for more than a year?
A few Milwaukee tools have taken awhile to reach the market lately usually they got them out pretty quick.

Do you have any other tools besides the drill

I think Milwaukee might be putting out a dual voltage product because they are running an ad going on about the M18 line and the future
Ryobi Car Buffer

Ryobi only makes a cordless buffer. For a true high speed polisher you will need to move up to Milwaukee, Makita, or Dewalt.
