Its been a while since I've been on here! I've been super busy with student teaching and just recently graduating from college! Anyways, I have finally gotten enough time to finish up the kitchen table I started at the beginning of the year. Its been a long road with this thing. Over xmas break I had the table finished and had my stain ordered and on its way. After the break was over I went in to stain my table and the top had cracked in two spots! I was pretty disappointed and the table set for a little while until I decided it wasn't going to finish itself setting in there. So I started back in on it and got her done! I'm pretty pleased with the results.

The big difference in between the two is with the k5 you have the longer arms that come out for support/storage. They will both get the job done. Kreg Jig is a staple in many cabinet makers toolbox. I use my k5 all the time! So to answer your question I think the k4 will probably be sufficient to do what your needing it to and to save 40 bucks.

Jet makes good stuff.
I have two powermatic drill presses that are probably 30 years old. They perform flawlessly.

Love the butcher block top!
Thanks! I was able to get a lot done today. I took the day off from work. Just to work more on my table. I enjoy this work though! Haha

Between working and commuting and hour and a half to college I've been able to get some more work done on the table. The top isn't attached yet. Just wanted to see what it looked like on its base. I still have the raised panel door and shelf to put into the cabinet underneath. Then the real fun starts. Sanding!!

I saw something similar to this when I was a young kid during an ice storm. It was crazy.

Finally got around to getting the table top all glued up. Decided to go with a piece of oak inlaid in the Walnut.

Yep, that's why I say the belt types are best left to the pro's.
Then again, you aren't exactly an amateur
Thanks for the compliment!
But trust me I've made plenty of boo boo's...

I did it with a belt floor sander, if you opt for this make sure you keep that baby as flat as possible. Otherwise you'll have nice little rolling hills throughout your surface.
