  1. Only Dewalt's Hammerdrill's use the ROHM chuck. Not sure what they use across the pond, probably ROHM on all the XR/XRP drills.

I've really enjoyed my ROHM pusher on my DC925, 927. DCD950 and 970, but during heavy use it has always self-tighten's to the point where it is extremely difficult to unlock and remove the bit.

I've logged some hours on the 20v Max DCD985 with ROHM's Ratcheting version, and so far so good. I do prefer the ratcheting feel, over the simple "clip" feel on the ROHM Pusher.

  2. Does DeWalt make a 14.4 v Li-Ion battery?  I'm looking for a 14.4 v drill, but so far all I see are Ni-Cads.  I am a weekend DIY'er.  I may use the drill a few times a month.  Will Ni-Cads suffice for me?  When I hear the name Ni-Cad, I think of my old camcorder battery, and having to discharge it fully before recharging (because of the memory effect) and then not having enough battery left when I needed it because it was partially discharged before I started using it.  I think you know what I mean.  I just don't want the hassle of having to worry about how much charge is left in the battery.

I will have to shop around, but does anybody have an opinion as to whether to 18V drills are much heavier than the 14.4?

14.4v has been posted on here as a "squeezed out" voltage line. I would look into either the new 20v max line, or the 12v max line depending on your overall needs?

Yes, but it is sold as an aftermarket option.  There are not any 14.4v kits packaged with lithium batteries.

  3. I saw these the other day when the Dewalt Semi rolled into town. They are extremely well built, I did not have my camera on me to take any pictures. It's note worthy to mention the vapor lock cap on top of each box. They are so weather resistant that they have a pressure release valve built into the top to release any build up of vacuum pressure on the inside of the box. Imagine them sitting in the hot sun all day.

The small case comes with 2 drop down container's built inside to store bit's and accessories, as well as a assortment of square containers to go inside the lower half. You can move them around, take a few out and put in a tool, remove them completely.

The Medium container is just a large storage box with a removable insert found in your basic tool boxes. Like the insert seen below.

The large container also included the insert, and storage slot's built into the back half of the box to store hand tools.

The Dewalt UK website has a very interactive micro page that show-cases the Tough-System. Check it out Here.

  5. New DEWALT® TOUGHSYSTEM™ Provides Convenient and Innovative Storage Options;

NEW YORK, NY – OCTOBER 5, 2011 – DEWALT announced today the introduction of its TOUGHSYSTEM™ storage solution during a product introduction luncheon at the Westin Times Square. The unique system is comprised of three modular storage units (DWST08201, DWST08203 and DWST08204) and metal carrier (DWST08210) for ultimate jobsite organization. The TOUGHSYSTEM™ allows any professional to build the storage option that fits their needs. Technicians, electricians and contractors can all use different combinations, eliminating the need for multiple storage boxes spread throughout the jobsite or workshop.

“Our new storage solution offers contractors a means of organizing, sorting and transporting their tools and materials from one jobsite to the next,†said Naama Eylon, storage commercialization manager. “We designed this system to save contractors time by allowing them to customize their storage options and only pull out the tools they need for each application.â€

Constructed of four-millimeter structural foam for jobsite durability, three stand alone units make-up the TOUGHSYSTEMâ„¢. The DWST08201 is a robust briefcase with carry handle that fits both power tools and accessories. The unit is designed to hold an entire set of tools. The DWST08204 provides removable vertical storage for easy access and organization.

Professionals can efficiently store their screwdrivers, chisels, etc. in an upright format for stress-free searching. The unit can also fit power tool chargers and other large accessories. The DWST08203 comes equipped with a deep removable tray which is designed to fit a cordless tool battery and charger.

The three storage cases are stackable, connected by their side latches, enabling a contractor to lift two or three cases at once. Each of the units is also furnished with an integrated water seal for tool and material protection from rain, snow and other weather elements.

For trouble-free transportation around the jobsite, the DWST08201 L-cart carrier assists professionals in moving heavy materials and storage cases. The carrier can handle materials up to 260 lbs. and features adjustable, foldable brackets for tailored configuration. Contractors can even work directly from the carrier, without having to detach all storage units.

A central locking mechanism allows the stand-alone storage cases to securely attach to the carrier for easy transport. For jobsite security, padlock eyes permit locking of the stand-alone units.

Complete with a limited lifetime warranty, the TOUGHSYSTEMâ„¢ is available through independent and two-step distributors. The storage options are sold separately and expected to retail for the following prices:

    • DWST08201: $49.99

  6. This is the only thing we know so far.

    ComingSoon.jpg

From the picture it looks like 2 different radios are coming for the 12v/20v max line.

    Why 2 radios?

Possibilities are one for the 12v max line, and one for both 12v and 20v?

One could be a charger, one could be without the charger?

    Who know's?
