I have 4 of these 18V batteries.  I also have 4 of the yellow chargers.  I just bought these batteries (new), but are stamped as 2010.  I left the batteries in the chargers for 2 days straight.  Then pulled all 4 of them to get the voltage with a high quality digital meter.  They all read 19.9V exactly.  I do realize they were fresh off the charger & not under a load.

    Without opening the packs, how would I know if mine has the Sony or A123 cells inside?

    Maybe the packs with 'NANO' on the side has the A123 cells & the newer packs with 'XRP' is the Sony?

I just ordered 4 new DC9180 Li-Ion off internet.  Only used DC9096 NiCd before.  Does the Li-Ion stay on the charger 24/7 when not in use also?  What is the Ah of the nexer version?  What does 'sleep mode' do exactly & does it automatically come out of that mode when placed in a charger?  When did Dewalt use NiMh batteries, maybe the first cordless tool kind?

I bought the newly designed model DC759KA several years ago.  It came with 2 of the full sized black top non-XRP batteries, black charger, & kit box.  The batteries lasted around 2 years.  Then I bought a few of the 2-pack yellow top XRP ones for $110 a pack at the Home Depot Christmas sales.  It is the oldest DeWalt tool I have, & it has given me no problems yet.  When I bought the DC759KA it was advertised as having 450 in lbs of torque, but that was before they changed the measurement to UWO (Unit Watts Out), which it is now labeled as 380 UWO.  Back then it was $280, but the prices have come down since. 

    Last year I bought 3 of the DCD970s for more heavy duty jobs, but I still prefer the DC759KA for 90% of my construction jobs. 

    If I were in the market for a new compact drill, I would get the DCD760KL.  Not saying this because the DC759 is a bad drill.  Just because the DCD760 has the new smaller base, an LED worklight, and it might be a little smaller & less weight then the DC759.

The only way you could do that, that I know of, is to install a power inverter on the Gator (which changes 12v DC to 110v AC).  You would'nt need a very big one as long as your not going to use any of the 3 AC outlets on the side of the radio to run any powertools.  I seen a Black & Decker one at Walmart automotive dept, its 400 watts for around $40, just bolt/screw it onto a panel and wire it in with the included wiring - you dont need a cigerette lighter for this one.
