I can't remember for sure, as I haven't messed with a 708 in a long time, but I believe that there is a tightening screw under the miter clamp. Look underneath the clamp handle and look for a screw that you can tighten. Hopefully that is correct and helps you out!

Is this something to be looked at? To tout a premium drill as having a quirk that should not be a problem seems to be sub par in terms of quality assurance. I demand a lot from my tools in my job and that is why I have stayed with Dewalt.
It's not a "quirk", it's just the way the gears mesh. It is really common in 3 speed drills.
-
It isn't a problem, just happens sometimes/with some if the drills. The 18v versions (dcd950/970) typically didn't do that, but the newer versions can. It's just part of the way this particular 3 speed transmission syncs up.

Why do you need to send it to your brother to exchange? You can exchange it at any lowes, or take it to your nearest service center.
I would definitely recommend having it replaced or repaired. If you open the tool yourself, you will void all warranties. It definitely shouldn't have failed, and I would get it take care of. Call 1-800-4-DeWALT if you want to find the nearest place to exchange or return it.

Date is 201339 ... so they are not that old.
I read in another forum posting that I can take the batteries to a local DeWalt service center and swap them for new ones. Is this still true?
If you're near a service center, take your batteries AND your charger to be tested. I am guessing that your charger may be bad.

It's out now, but it will be at limited distributors at this point. You will start seeing it a lot more over the next month or two.
-
There isn't a part number for it, but the dcd995m2 brushless hammer drill comes in a hard case. You would have to find someone who wants to get rod of their case. All combo kits are in bags now, and individual tools are in kit boxes.
-
Take them to your nearest service center. If you do not know where that is, you can google it or call 1-800-4-DeWALT. If your batteries have yellow tops, they will both be under warranty.

is this maybe to challenge the makita drill which the batteries are not compatible with he rest of the lxt range?
Not really, more like a 20v compatible promotional sku lik the dc970k-2
-
I finally seen this drill.. I usally always go out to department stores aka lowes/ homedepot on black Friday.. I've never seen a 20 v. Max drill like this on sale..
This is the first year that it is being released.
-
That is a really old model. Unless you got it for practically free, I would send it back and look for a deal at any number of distributors on the dw304pk over the next month.

Huh, interesting. It may be a geographical/technology difference. Mine works fine, but it's a different country, model, and technology being used. I couldn't really speak to yours, as I do not really know anything about radios outside the US. Sorry you are having issues, and I hope that they get resolved!
-
This model is the 20v MAX equivalent of the DC970K-2 that has been promo'd in the past. It is primarily a Black Friday play.

are there any reviews on the new generation radio yet? have had mine for only a week and it is beautiful, well made but totally useless as an actual radio. i pick up 80% more stations on my mobile phone fm radio! why is this? i was so disappointed i returned it to swap, assuming it had a fault but all the others in the shop were exactly the same...
Which radio did you get? I have both the DCR015 and 018, and both get really good reception - even better than my truck.

Thanks for the answer
Many suppliers, for example at ebay, write in their offer that the protection ist in the battery.
If I look inside the battery there is a small board with some smd parts.
Now i am unsure what is right?
There is no significant discharge protection built into the 20v max batteries, it is in the tool. The DeWALT 18v lithium batteries (DC9180) have all electronic controls built into the stem of the battery. I would recommend using that battery if you are wanting it "self contained" (for lack of a better word).
-
No, the protection is built into the tool.
-
All makers batteries are sensitive to water. That being said, do you have another battery to plug into the charger to be sure it works? How old is the battery? If it is within the warranty period, it would be worth a shot to try exchanging it, though water exposure does void warranty per the owners manual. Worth a shot anyway though.
-
Thanks for the tip. Mine was actually a CR2032 (disk type) battery instead of a 9V battery but still the same idea. Thanks!
Is your radio a dc011?

I can't speak to converting he Milwaukee jacket to use the DeWALT batteries (though I wouldn't suggest doing it), I have been had my DeWALT heated jacket for a couple of weeks now, and I really like it. The fit is really nice, it is thicker than I expected it to be, and on a cold morning, feeling all the heating zones kick on feels great! I recommend just ordering the DeWALT in your regular jacket size. I am sure you will be more than satisfied with it, and worse case you have the 90 day return policy.

There seems to be a huge call for the 20v 2nd fix nailer. Why is it taking so long? I see a 20v grease gun is coming out, surely a nailer would generate more revenue than a grease gun??
The grease gun will be a HUGE seller in the farm belt. Likely larger seller than the nailers believe it or not.
-
Not that this is a real solution to it not being in 12v MAX, but the charger that comes with the 20v tools will also charge the 12v, which helps a bit. I wouldn't hold my breath for a 12v version though.
Enjoy retirement! I'm looking forward (pretty far down the road) to my days of tinkering and hobbies that I can't fit into my work schedule now!

Gotcha. This would be worth trying then, while you work through your old blades. Good luck!

QUESTION> Do Fein and Bosch ect. blades fit this or am i limited to Dewalt only?
by looking at just pictures it looks like you could use tin snips (cut the slot) and a hammer (straighten the cut) on some other blades brands to make it work.
Not that you will be swayed by what some guy on the internet (me) that you don't know says, but you will definitely want to try the fine blades vs. the DeWALT before you go through the effort of making a vein blade fit. The DeWALTs are AT LEAST as good as the Fein, and honestly are likely better, and a significantly lower cost. So while you may be able to make a fine blade work, I would ask why you would want to.
Just my two cents.

The DCB090 is not so good that Dewalt doesn't want to show you any product spec.
DCB090 only delivers 1.5 amps for both USB ports, each can give at most 1.3 amp on Apple device, and it only charge Android at max 0.5 Amp. Worst of all, it doesn't even fit tightly on the battery that Dewalt made. If you need to see the remaining battery capacity, you'll need to remove it from the battery and then put it back in.........
I press the 12v MAX battery on it until it snaps/locks on, never had an issue.
My iPhone 4S seems to charge at the same rate if its off a Dewalt battery or plugged into computer/wall.
The only issue i have with it is the battery monitor and having to remove/replace the battery like you said.
The place to buy that i mentioned before seems to be at full retail, since then i have seen it elsewhere cheaper.
What generation of batteries do you have? All of my batteries have the state of charge indicator built in, so the gauge on the adapter isn't really necessary.
Glad you are having good results!

I'm not entirely sure what your question is. If you are asking if you can take your repair to a DeWALT service center in person, then he answer is definitely yes. DeWALT service centers are walk in friendly.
Best of luck.
