Looked into it. Insurance covers up to 250 off property and 500 on property. But the deductible is 500 so it's not worth it at all.

I really do agree with him, File the report, it might not help but it definitely won't hurt.. It's gotta be very frustrating that a coworker/coworkers were responsible in some way.. the guy driving shouldn't have been being such a wild man and the one who put your tools away should have had a little more respect for your property.. I agree you can sue him or steal his tools, haha, even though you might want to!! Doesn't make it right.. has he said anything to you?
Do whatever feels comfortable to you but you may not want to offer your vacation time up to your boss right off the bat. Hang onto that card as a negotiating tactic.. You were in a company truck, on company time and you really weren't 100% responsible.. if he is a decent guy and or values you as an employee he might just come out and offer you assistance with no strings attached.. you gotta remember that you make him money!
I know what you are saying but I doubt anyone will fork out 1600 bucks for a employee who was unlucky. I did file a police report when I got home from the job though. And checked all the pawn shops nearby and let them know about it. I just feel like I'll be labeled a snitch or something if I try and Sue a coworker for loosing my tools. Nobody admits to being the ones who actually loaded them in the truck.

I would take the guy's tools who put them in the truck. you put someone elses tools away and you don't make sure they are safe.

They should have been. But I didn't put them in someone else did, that and the fact the driver was whipping it around like a brand new lamborghini prolly didn't help.

Only have of them are ingraved because I borrowed a buddies and I didn't have all the tools I lost at the time to engrave.

Didn't have time to file a police report. Had to go to the job. They only do it in person for a claim that big. It was on company time and it was dropped from a company truck outside our shop. We did a u turn and went back but in under 90 seconds it was gone. No car pulled over or sign of it nothing... I'm gonna talk to the owner and see if he can use my week of vacation from this year and my one from next year to pay for it and I'll work those days instead...

Well. All of my hand tools have been stolen. There goes $1600... Been acquiring them since I started electrical work at 14 and now I gotta start all over... Super passed.
Moral of the story, joppatowne Maryland is a slime ball trashy town where anything that is not chained down will be stolen.
Hope everyone is having a good day. Make sure to lock your tools up, you won't realise how much they mean/cost until you have to replace them.

I love that picture, the dudes in that pic are the baddest mofos. Its crazy how things change just like DR99 said, but in the tower industry it still isnt as safe as it should ben unfortunately.
Some contractors require tying off above 6 feet, but on a 8 foot ladder if you tie off it literally does nothing to arrest your fall, so a harness only makes it more dangerous adding extra weight to throw you off balance lol. It takes around 15-18 feet to arrest a fall in a standard harness. So if there is something 10 feet below you or 14 feet below you, you will still hit at a super fast speed....

looks like fun, spent last week doing some site surveys for new services and went up several mountains, im in northern arizona, its not flat and warm, its friggin cold and will be snowing soon. i do not envy those who climb the towers here, how does climbing at 10k feet on top of mountain sound?
Sounds slightly better then climbing in the north and in BC.

Yep, based out of timonium, no doubt have driven by their office at one point during work haha. I am getting my journeyman electricians license first though.

I got a mini little Knipex Cobra wrench in the mail today. I was pretty happy after today's car accident for some reason. I guess new tools make anyone happy
Let me know how these are, thinking about getting them instead of my normal 16" channel locks for threading rigid conduit together.

Not really the adrenaline rush as much as being part of something bigger. How many people climb cell towers in the world? 11,000 maybe... Even less working from helicopters on live 500kv lines.. That's why I like it.Are you one of those crazy people that love that rush of adrenaline? That's just insane the whole live wire working from helicopters. I have also seen them live wire work from insulated platforms. I'm with Regiopit on this one even-though being in the ground and in the dirt all the time with natural gas has to take its tole on your body. It just seems safer to me with explosive gas detectors and all the other meters it just seems safer than being a linesman. After seeing pics and videos of people getting electrocuted and arc flashes anything over 120 scares the crap out of me. I was wondering Regiopit can you still smell natural gas after all these years? I read a story somewhere where some guys cause an explosion working on a live gas line and didn't have a explosive gas detector on them. They mentioned that you lose sensitivity to the smell it if you work in that trade.

I was there 35 years and I left 4 years ago but, I always had my business.
I hope to eventually get into the linemen field with BGE in the next ten years or so. I really wanna do aerial line work from choppers, that's the ultimate job for me...

Working for bge on the gas side?When I first started with the utility I was working a high line pole on rt 40. I would say the pole was 90' and I was climbing down and I cut out. I was about 30' up and i hugged the pole big mistake. I slid down the pole the rest of the way and had splinters head to toe. Not a very pleasant feeling. That's when I said screw this I'm transferring. to the gas side

I just about had one working on here for the first time, my buddy says "wait till you feel the static" lol it feels like stuff is crawling all over you nonstop. The lines actually shake there is so much current running through at that 250kv voltage.
