  1. I didn't even notice the wireless charging on there.  Great attention to detail nalu.  Figures I'm the one who needs the joke explained XP

Strangest thing about the AC/DC thing is that some long transmission lines use DC now because inversion has gotten more efficient and there's no capacitive loss.

I think it comes down to too slow of an RPM personally, under bind the tool has time to become the reciprocating portion of the action instead of the blade which remains largely stationary, starting a unstoppable chain reaction, turning you into a puddle of the previous man you knew yourself to be.

    What could help overall?

    Orbital action.

    AVT.

    Faster RPM.

    More powerful motor.

Paste of wood glue combined with Unicorn horn dust drawn into circles of demonic protection on the inside of the motor housing.

    That should do it.

I actually dislike orbital. With proper pressure and proper tooth count you can cut faster in demo and putting pressure on it in orbital means more vibration plus a worse off blade if you hit metal.  Might be I'm doing something wrong or just different though.

Well got my drill back today. They replaced the armature. I'm not sure what that is but hopefully it's fixed and I'll try it out at work tomorrow. I will say this tho about the new chuck they put on it-zero wobble! I even put an old hammer drill bit in it just to see and it spins as true as I've ever seen so I'm really happy to see that! The old wobble really used to bug me.

So can anyone tell me what the armature is?

The armature is the motor windings (ie. the thing that was smoking) so I'd be impressed if that doesn't fix it.

Heh, My fiance watched me with bated breath and a massive grin on her face as I put the blender head in my m18 fuel to whip some egg whites for a cake... The whole time I was tightening the chuck I was wondering why she was so interested all of a sudden when I use my tools. She laughed for a good 10 minutes when I pulled the trigger and 6 eggwhites ended up all over me and everything within 10 feet.

Problem is eggbeater "bits" work in pairs.  A few minutes with pliers and you can make them work great individually though.  You can apply power tools and fluid dynamics to cooking simultaneously!

  5. If by kit you mean drill and impact, Makita's new subcompact brushless kit is $230, and I don't think you can do bettery for the price point.  After that I think the good ones go up to around $200 bare tool which isn't exactly what you want.

I love makita's impacts, but you definitely pay a premium for them.

Two pack of Avanti 10" 60 tooth blades for $24.97

Sounds like ok blades, maybe use them with older or dirty lumber, throwaway price, to be expected being that cheap...

The problem is 60t is a lot of teeth for rough cuts.  Thin ply is the only thing I could find they were decent for.

They've started marking down a ton of stuff online in the last couple days but nothing that great.  Then there's this wacky thing I ran into that I've never seen before...

It should smash 1/4" ply. Also, in Australia and elsewhere it is specified as a 140mm blade, which is actually 5.5". I wonder why it's called 5-3/8"?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

5-3/8 is a standard blade size just really uncommon

Ebay or atlas machinery out of Canada I ordered  a white one off ebay and got my green one from atlas and I got a blue from construction  fasteners  out of canda  as you can tell I really  like this impact

Great way to keep it from getting stolen.  People will assume it's just the cheap homeowner line and don't bother.

which shouldn't be a problem because there are three rows of cells to provide current.

I am (as noted above) also concerned about their 6Ah batteries being a compromise. Having said that the M12 6ah batteries are awesome.

What about the compact 3ah?  That seems really questionable.

I think if I were on the Makita platform I would have this set and the full size set and forget the 12v tools. Keep it down to just one battery

Not to mention they're black.  It's a shame they just updated the entire 12V line.

They have the new brushless micro 18v tools for Makita at my local HD. But....$229....yeeeesh. That's a lot of money for the set. Feel great in the hand though and oh so tiny.

$229 seems reasonable.  You can't expect the price tag to be as small as the tools.  In fact looking at home depot it's on the lower end of entry level brushed kit prices despite being top of the line brushless.

Yea the 20700s are awesome, but doubt well see dewalt introduce that tech in their 20v battery

From the pictures it looks like they use them in the 20V 6.0

Since u guys brought up flexvolt I have another question. I read somewhere about a tool having a noticeable power increase going from a compact battery to a higher capacity 10 cell battery.  Now would u see a noticeable power increase using a flexvolt battery because it has 15 cells vs a 4 or 5 ah battery with 10 cells?

That depends on if the tools is capable of using the extra power, and before you ask I have no idea which ones.  It will also take longer to overheat in heavy use for any tool.

  13. First off, it's going to be a bit bigger and heavier, not flexvolt big but a little, hopefully to avoid the problems Bosch had.

Also the 6ah batteries tend to have a significant premium over the other batteries because of the expensive cells they use.  It's almost 100% increase in price for up to a 20% increase in runtime.  That's not worth it in my book.  I'm happy to seem them push the 5ah prices down though.
