The play in one of the slide bearings is nagging at me. I feel its getting worse. I just hate that little bit of slop.
The excellent bevel lock lever is undone by the ridiculously small bevel gauge, forget about repeat custom bevel settings.
The bevel adjust if its out is fiddly.
The miter lock lever needs to be adjusted so tight so it does not move I fear for its reliability.
crosscut capacity is limited below 12", yet vertical is good.
No plug in option. 2 reasons, firstly to save the batteries when power is available. Secondly, difficult work flow when hooked up to a vacuum, must turn on vac than cut.
Most importantly it just feels a little cheap. The 12" they introduced a few years ago had a few flaws but felt top quality. The 2734 just feels cheap in hand kind of like the dark years a few years back for milwaukee.
Now I need a new 10" scms Makita ls1016l, dewalt dw717, ridgid ms255sr. which one ?
I've got the DW717 and it's great! I bought the DW7085 XPS upgrade for it (yet to fit) and I think the only thing I'd look to upgrade, if possible, would be the dust collection. Power, accuracy and quality
of cut are all great. I think the only thing (10") I'd swap it for would be a Kapex!

Got the DWS7085 XPS light upgrade for my DW717-XE which I'll fit next week! Also picked up (for the company I work for) the OF2200 Festool router, the accessory systainer for it and 2 of the guide rail accessory systainers! Will be trying it out next week!

I'd really have no idea. Here is Australia it's $625 including the hood and an 800mm guide rail! Good value from the green and grey!

Here is a link to a video showing the DSC AG 125 in use with the dust extraction hood connected to the CT MINI Vacuum. This attaches to the FS Guide Rails as well. Is great for cutting tiles and FC sheets. As far as I am aware it accepts any 125mm blades, far cheaper than the 165mm/185mm circular saw blades! The dust extraction is excellent!

This video is about the makita DTD141 oil impulse driver. The guy in the video mentions the low rating for torque and that its to do with how its measured and that a hydraulic motor is slightly different. I'm not exactly sure but its interesting

What about buying the DCB1800 when it's out, a heap of batteries and using that to power the kapex? "Cordless" kapex anyone?!

I have the DW717 (maybe not for long after seeing the new Milwaukee and FlexVolt offerings!) and I've purchased a 60 tooth Diablo blade with 30mm arbor. I bought some reducing rings but no matter what I do I can seem to get it to work properly. Even after tightening the bolt as much as I can I still get some wobble from the blade. The arbor section is stepped slightly which means that the part which the lock nut goes through doesn't tighten down onto the blade enough. (If that makes sense)
Anyone else have this issue? Do I need to stick to Dewalt only blades with 16mm arbor?

Yeah that's the one! I need something non-impact for door hardware etc so a drywall style probably isn't ideal, thanks for the suggestion though! I like the 1/4" chuck on this one, no metal/plastic chuck.

I am looking for a quieter driving tool for working in occupied apartment/hospital areas and am wondering how quiet the screw driving function of this 4 mode driver is if anyone has it? The oil impulse appeals but still has an impact function that I probably don't need. The little DF032 BL 12v hex driver would be ideal but not available in AUS Til December. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Yeah that's not an issue really. Warranty returns etc are general pretty good in this area. Had a few things go back from both companies and had it back in decent time.

I have the DTD148 and love it but feel like I need a smaller driver (non-impact) for more fine/intricate work. The festool appeals to me with the centrotec attachments that seem very easy to use and well thought out BUT the little Brushless Makita DF032 looks the bees knees and I'd imagine Makita are really going to expand the 12v line whereas Festool probably won't add anything to the little 10.8v lineup, would you guys agree? Which would you think would be the better purchase? The Festool retails for $415 AUD with 3 attachments, 2 batteries, charger and systainer. The Makita isn't out in Oz yet but I can purchase and get it sent to me from family in the UK. Would cost $110 AUD without batteries/charger or postage. The Makita batteries are $41 for 1.5ah, $50 for 2.0ah and $89 for 4.0ah. Fast charger is $100 approx.

There is a screw that stops the depth of the blade. All you have to do is adjust that screw to lower the blade a little more so that 7 1/4" blades will work. If you put a 7 1/2" blade back on later you have to remember to adjust that screw again so you don't damage the saw.

Only problem is the saw blade is 190mm (7 1/2") and the only Diablo's I can get are 185mm (7 1/4"). I would need to make an add-on for the rear fence so the blade cuts all the way through (I think?).

I only managed a quick 10 min play with it with a few work mates, all of them very impressed after scepticism at the beginning! Saw felt great to use, nice action although different from usual with the 4 rail system! Like I said, the quality of cut, although some basic pre-primed pine skirting and basic 4x2 framing timber, was superb even on the standard 24 toother! One of my work mates has the old DLS713 and although it does the trick and gets there in the end he was less than happy after seeing the new beast!
