LOL that nail has been nailed a long time ago ha ha
My folks used to make those back in the hippie days. I bet my kids would find this fun. Thanks for sharing.
No problem Thanks
cool little project ......thanks for sharing
It was pretty fun and fairly easy which is always good LOL
The log box is cool but honestly, with the red cloth in it "wearing" the ring, it looks like a severed finger that you get with a random note.

LOL That was just a shop towel. The finished piece had a black silk liner inside.

But at this point I still needed one for my Mom
Bend and cut
The bending made dents in the metal so I filed it down then sanded then polished.
This turned out pretty neat

Solder together
See what I mean way to small. This was 1.25 I needed 6-6.5 Oh well
I split it back open rounded the edges and it works and looks pretty nice
(no pic it was a last minute thing)

We as a family like camping and hiking so it came pretty naturally for us. Seems kinda nerdy now days LOL but there are so many life long good/handy skills you learn its hard to pass up.

Yeah me too
Very cool stuff. My boy (Parker) and I just did his first pinewood derby car this year. We only had 3 days to work on it since he just signed up for scouts. We had fun putting it together, but we didn't fair well. We were close to the bottom of his den if not last.
On another note, when I was a scout, we finished close to the bottom each year as well.
Next year we will get it right.
Follow my tips in the videos they will help alot. The best thing is get the axle installer tool. Your axles go in straight you get the correct spacing between the wheels and the body. Then polish your axles.
place most of your weight 1 inch in-front of the back axle and get as close to 5oz as possible. Good luck next year. If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask. Ill do what I can to help you.
Pick up truck designs work great because it places a lot of the weight in the front, then to make the weight for the weigh in usually your allowed to put some weights in it in the front to speed it up.

From our testing 1 inch in-front of the back axle has given us the best results .

Came up with a good way to"weld" plastic together with extra strength
Seems to be a pretty popular issue with the C3s. The wiper cover brakes. I didn't make it pretty just functional but i bet with a little body filler and plastic paint it'd be good as new.
I know they make plastic welders but if you used in in conjunction with the welder it would be that much stronger
This is after the repair and again you could make this almost seem less
I first used Epoxy to basically glue the pieces together. This gives extra hold inside the crack and hold it together so you can work on the back side of the piece.
