  1. If you think the 16g is weak you have a defective unit.

It is weak. It's been proven on IG time and again. It cannot set 2.5" nails in most materials and definitely can't do it reliability.

I am comparing the dcn660 to the old XRP 16ga. I have both and a Paslode 16ga. The old XRP nailer is much stronger and easily sets 2.5" nails.
  2. So basically it took them like a year and 4 months to redesign a magazine they already have had on 18v tools for like 10 years.

    Swell.

That has been my thoughts all along! It's ridiculous.

At least the lack in power when in the 16ga should equate to adequate power in 18ga.
  3. Doesn't Makita have 6.0 batteries out now? stick 2 of them puppies on an x2 tool and you'll get 36v power with 6.0 runtime. It'll beat M18 HD 9.0's and the Flexvolt 9.0/3.0's

The 6.0ah they offer are 18650 battery cells that aren't the greatest at handling high demand/discharge loads at that ah.

Makita needs to go to 20700 battery cells like Metabo, Bosch, DeWalt have. I expect at the Milwaukee NPS event this year they will release new 20700 cell batteries.
  4. Nice one, how does ebates work?

Sign up for Ebates account, find retailer you are purchasing from (not every retailer is there), see % you get back from them by shopping with Ebates, click the Ebates link to shop with chosen retailer.

An Ebates rebate # us created and you are directed to the site. Make your purchase as you normally would. Ebates emails you with the rebate amount and then deposits the funds into your Ebates account. Once every quarter Ebates mails you a check. [emoji106]

It's really easy and saves a few dollars.

Note: on purchase above I got back ~$4.50 which is 1.5% back from the original purchase amount, not the Acme discount price. Discount is taken off original price.

    Acme
    Lowe's
    Ace Hardware
    Zoro

All these I use Ebates on regularly

  5. $118.58 for a 9.0ah FlexVolt 20700 cell fat pack! Yes please. Thank you @acmetools for helping me spend some of my tax return. My FlexVolt miter saw is going to be so happy!

Seriously, this is a fantastic deal for a 2-pack of the 9.0ah FlexVolt and other flexvolt tools

I have been wanting to try the new Dewalt Tstak tote as well.

I also used Ebates and received an extra 1.5% off of my total order.

This laser should last easy a good 15 years and I would bet the farm they won't be making 12v batteries in current form factor for half of that.

I'd rather have it run on 8 or 10 AA's than 12v and at least know I'm good for the life of the tool.

DeWalt is still making the 18v XRP batteries. I don't see them cutting off production of 12v batteries, especially since they are cheap to make with their 2.0ah cells. DeWalt is releasing more specialty items in 12v, so it is somewhat committed to keeping it around. Not to mention, battery cells can easily be switched out for new ones if they fail. I am not sure if the DeWalt 12v like case that holds AAs will power a green laser.

I held my 20v 2.0ah battery next to my DW088LG cross line laser and its nearly the same size. I wouldn't want a laser to be as big as needed to mount a 20v battery to it.

On a side note, Bosch is releasing a 12v powered green laser with Bluetooth capability. Pretty cool stuff!

That's a nice looking multi purpose sander with the Delta pad

I just bought the DTS 400 and it is fantastic.

The sad part is, after getting my Pro 5 back from Festool servicing the pad is starting to do the same thing it was doing in the above video. It will just stop rotating under very little pressure.

  9. Checking out eu websites..their kits come in tstak boxes..v and vi ..I don't buy kits so I'm wondering ,if USA kits come in tstak boxes or toughboxes ?

I have been hoping for Tstak boxes for some time now and keep getting let down. I really hope they start selling tools that way here in NA. The FlexVolt track saw is a prime example as well.

I really feel this nailer is going to let me down just like the 16ga did when comparing it to the XRP nailers. With that said, I still enjoy using the new 16ga, it's just not as powerful. This 18ga appears the same size as the 16ga. We will see when it's in our hands.

  10. I prefer the smaller size for sure. If you want you can buy the collated attachment for the larger 18v drill and it will work on this one.

This tool and the 12v jiggy are 2 of the best Bosch 12v tools out right now imho. I don't like their 18v line but love their 12v line.

Couldn't agree more. You must not own the 10.8v dremel tool. It's phenomenal! The brushless angle grinder gets fantastic reviews but I just don't have a use.

I love my Bosch 12v. Debating getting the new Fkexi-Clic.

  11. Nice! I imported one over a year ago. It is a great size. I bought the kit which came with the newer 2.5 ah batts. Screw length is critical to good operation. It doesn't have the most powerful motor in the world. Run 1-5/8" screws with 1/2" drywall in yellow pine and it struggles. Switch to 1-1/4" and it is like a whole new drill. It does very well with fine thread in metal.

I am running 1 1/4" fine thread into 75 yr old pine tonight and it's pretty damn good. 2lbs with the small battery, 2.6lbs with big battery. 63414ca2e70fc5cce286e7edfc88c000.jpg

  12. It sounds amazing but holy cow do I hate the layout, size, and interface. I understand it's meant to be used as part of the Tough System stacking layout but man, it'd be amazing if they were able to keep the sound while reducing the size and making it compatible with the FlexVolt batteries.

Why does it need to be compatible with with FlexVolt batteries? It doesn't need a big expensive battery in it. Runtime is great with a 5.0ah. I would rather delegate my FlexVolt batteries to tools that have a higher battery drain.
