Fluke is definitely the way to go for DMMs. They're not expensive at all when you consider how accurate and easy to use they are, and how long they last.

 

I have an Ideal clamp meter which measures up to 660A DC, those are very expensive from Fluke.

What kind of bulb did the light come with? From what I can tell it's some kind of PR bulb. There are lots of LED drop-ins for these, so it might be even easier.

I don't know the details of this, but NiCad and LiIon have very different charging requirements. If you are not familiar with the requirements and able to verify that the charger is safe don't attempt this yourself. You could fry the battery and possibly cause a fire or explosion. Those warnings aren't jokes. I've seen both NiMH and LiIon fires and they're not pretty.

Nice hack. I don't really get the appeal of the "impact driver" either, but for some reason the drill/impact combo seems to be everywhere. Is it cheaper to buy that kit and swap the anvil than buying the drill and impact wrench separate?

Apple has always charged crazy amounts for upgrades. Flash is so cheap these days there's no way they need to charge what they do, but their fans/customers will keep paying for it.

 

If you don't really care about having the latest iGadget why not give a cheaper Android phone a try?

In Seattle it's just about $3/gal, varies from 2.80-3.30 depending on the brand and the neighborhood. That's for 92 octane. Usually it's .20 less for 87 octane but I haven't bought any in a while.

Just wondering, for something of that size, what's the benefit to making it M18 compatible? Seems like there are already rechargeable shop/scene lights on the market.

Thanks for posting this! I think I'm going to standardize on Milwaukee, and hearing about good CS helps a lot. I've been stuck with some total junk after being stonewalled by rude companies. It's not a good feeling.

I don't know if you're talking about the motor or the whole tool. It may be that tools used to be made better in general, but there's really no disadvantage to brushless motors aside from cost. They are electronic, so there are less wear parts. That makes them more efficient and longer lasting.

Harbor Freight is hit or miss. Some Chicago power stuff is decent. I have a $20 angle grinder I can't complain about.
