Every Makita mitre saw I have used has that issue. The detents are just a quick find, you should then lock it in place before cutting. Once you do your initial set up and get your zero set to the orange arrow the rest will line up. Not a big deal like toolaholic is making out.
Hes made a big deal about stuff like that on other miters too

Ok, I decided on the Metabo and it has arrived.
It feels great in the hand and is lightweight. With a 2.0ah battery the weight balance is towards the blade. With a 6.2ah LiHD battery the weight is centred at the trigger and feels very well balanced. This is great! I was worried the weight would sit towards the battery/tail with the bigger ones.
I've been a bit of a critic of Metabo quality and this purchase was perhaps going to be the final straw. It's made in China but the quality is definitely above some of the other Chinese made Metabo I've had.
It feels well made and solid. Small details like rough plastic edges and uneven rubber overmold are not really a problem with this one (but still not quite up to other brands with the rubber, very frustrating!). The battery fits tight and the motor feels smooth. Blades fit well and are easily changed.
The LED light is above the blade and is not very bright. I'm not sure how useful it will be until I use it in a dark area.
The adjustable shoe will definitely come in handy (one deciding factor for choosing this saw).
It's hard to comment on the vibration level (I've never tried another one-hand saw) but it feels ok. The specs from Metabo rate vibration in wood at 10m/s2. To compare:
-new compact brushless 18v Dewalt = 23m/s2 (!!!)
-M18 Fuel sawzall = 16.7m/s2
-full sized 18v Metabo = 16m/s2
-one handed compact 18v Bosch = 13m/s2
-new brushless full sized 18v Bosch = 11.6m/s2
-M18 hackzall = 7.2m/s2
-compact 18v Makita = 7m/s2
It cuts fast enough for pruning even with the short stroke length. It would be great to have the same length as the compact Bosch, but the Bosch is heavier which kind of defeats the purpose of a one hand saw.
It definitely runs harder and faster with LiHD on board.
Adjustable shoe is awesome on a one handed saw!

I actually thought the new Makita had a longer stroke than 1.25"
Don't think so, industry standard was 1.125 that's where a lot of saws sit i.e. Milwaukee fuel but now we see more coming out at 1.25

Wanted to get into their new 12v line up so picked this up $99 at home depot. I've been very impressed with both the drip and the impact . Definitely use the drill all the time now because its compact and easier to use then a 18v for things but then again doesn't have near the power 18v have . Made a video about it on my channel I reviewed it .
Nice man, get the brushless 12v it's a little beast
Bad thing my brushed has a chuck wobble on it

I've been working with the Southwire 16040T it's a compact meter that utilizes their phone app, it's pretty cool actually, comes with a worklight on it too. The write up is on my website if anyone is interested in it, really it's a lot of meter for 60 bucks. True RMS as well

S2 is harder but that makes it more likely to shatter. Honestly, with 1/4 bits that aren't being using in an impact driver, I don't think it matters all that much.
The Tekton set is nice but the case is rather large to be in a bag and the drivers kinda suck.
The Anytime looks like a HF screwdriver. So it might be the same bits in their 100 bit set...they're (Harbor Freight) actually plenty good BUT the hex bits are not the right size, the security hex is the right size.
The Temo looks like a really nice set, those look like they're well made.
I'd take the Temo over Tekton but the Tekton has precision micro bits too and is cheaper. The nylon pry tool in the Tekton set is useless, you'd want to replace that...I don't know how they messed that up, last time I bought a pack of 10 of those for a couple bucks shipped from China.
You want to see an explosion? Put a tekton bit in an impact driver ha ha boom every time

They surprise me on a regular basis. Hey have deals on sweet tools... then they have what I would cal average stuff that is more expensive? Makes no sense lol.
I buy all my building materials at menards and always pass through the tool aisles, you never know what goodies you might find.

Top notch tool brand, the majority of their tools are still made in Germany, awesome battery technology mostly known for their grinders. They make some kick ass drills too but overall the line isn't as large as some other guys, Lowes tried to carry them but gave up after a month. @kruton has some metabolism stuff.

Sick looking drill, Metabo stuff is top notch!

Does it stall out easily or bog down easily?I've wanted a compact recip for a while now but after using the m18 brushed hackzall I wasn't impressed and decided to wait for something brushless
no i pushed the hell out of it and only bogged down once on a snag going through the square tubing, held the fault was the blade i burnt up, definitely a good one to have, you can use it one or two handed as well

Yea yea yea I know its a yellow tool blah blah blah just in case your wondering I didn't buy it its a loaner from Acme... and yes despite the vibration I like this saw

I love the m12 jig Saw, only grip is no dust blower, it's small enough I can do scrolling with it and cut intricate things that's more difficult with larger saws, even my higher end Bosch jig
