I personally think this is a steal. I recently bought a wire rack with bins and then this came available, I bought two(separate orders) and another of a smaller size. These racks come with casters (two locking, two not locking) and feet. Adjustable shelves in 1" increments. 220lbs per shelf. $60 shipped! Literally the casters alone would cost you $20 or more! Shipping is Fedex and has to be expensive too! I already received one of these and it's indeed a fantastic shelving unit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Commercial-82-x48-x18-6-Tier-Layer-Shelf-Adjustable-Wire-Metal-Shelving-Rack-76/311864355012?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=610708145145&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Just ordered one. Should help me get a few bulkier tools organized.

I agree, If I had a choice of getting my Festool items in a Systainer or a Ridgid box I'd go with the Ridgid tool boxes in a heart beat. I would never buy more systainers just for storage.

I just wish I could order them bare tool without the systainers like literally every other brand offers. I mean if you’re buying a bare tool chances are you already have batteries and chargers so why would you need a box that is going to be half empty all the time?

That’s one thing holding me back from buying more Festool (though there’s not really much I want). I don’t want to have to store the systainers, throw them away, or try to sell them online. I’m sure they would sell easily but dealing with the shipping is a nightmare because of there size.

Do you guys, who use tools for your job, introduce new tools or new brands to coworkers at work?

What do they think? Are they pretty open to try new tools or are they stuck on their usual brands?

This week I introduced my boss and another coworker to Festool. I brought the Festool, Tanos, and SawStop catalogs/booklets that my cousin sent me from the Festool event to work yesterday and was surprised that my boss and other coworker never even heard of Festool. They enjoyed looking at them. I think they found some cool products. It is unlikely they will get anything but thought I'd at least let them look at some neat catalogs/booklets. My boss was interested in the Systainers. Ima try and get some prices on the boxes and see if he is interested because they are some nice boxes long as you aren't too rough on them. I'm thinking if he realized how helpful Systainers are in organization he might see the worth in their premium. He is always getting on us for not keeping jobsite clean and organized.

Systainers are so expensive though for what they are. I looked at Systainers in the beginning of the year for a storage solution and besides not being able to fit a Sawzall in them they start around $70 for a Sys1. $70 for a small box that’s not waterproof seems like a rip off. TSTAK’s would be a much cheaper option.

  4. My two TSTAK II’s from Acme Tool came this morning. They were backordered for 7-10 days. I then found Zoro had a 15% off coupon and had them in stock. So I ordered three from them since I knew I needed at least five. Sadly Zoro only shipped one because someone else ( @jtkendall ) bought 3 of the 4 they had left right before me. So I ended up with 4 backordered. Zoro shipped the one then I got a email saying my two from Acme had been shipped. So three showed up this morning. Just got an email from Zoro that my other two shipped.

My 3/8″ Drive 42PC Standard & Deep Master Impact Socket Set from Sunex showed up as well.

There is also the “precision drive delay”. Don’t know what that means. The manual only says it helps with delicate fastening like door hinges and such to avoid stripping

It should start the impact at a slower speed and then ramp it up so that you can install hinges without going full throttle immediately causing the bit/screw to wander from your mark.

The DCF888 was on my list to pickup in 2 weeks when I get paid but I had to sideline it until the following purchase due to needing some more important items first. Plus I think Acme Tools only has it as a preorder and won't ship until the middle of  November so I'd be waiting anyway.

  6. I'd like to see a barrel grip jigsaw like the Festool Carvex. I hate the top handle / d handle (whatever the proper term is) jigsaws with a passion. I'm still hoping for a Milwaukee version but if DeWalt comes out with one first I'm jumping on it. I don't want to spend $500+ for the Festool and be into another battery platform. Bare tool under $200 would be perfect.

  8. I've had no issues with warranty repairs. My M-Spector went to the service center last Fall and they sent it out to be repaired. Came back within a week and it was just over 3 years old at the time. A few months ago I sent back a 8 month old 1.5ah M18 battery due to failure to charge. I went through eService for it and had a brand new 1.5ah battery in my hands in a week.

I actually really like the chuck's on my Milwaukee drills.

  9. I picked up a Southwire Tools SD12N1 multi bit screwdriver at Lowes. It's one of the very few Southwire Tools items that Acme Tools doesn't carry, so I couldn't get it with the order I'm waiting for from them, but I happened to be in Lowes anyway today and grabbed it.

  10. So I've spent the better part of the last year trying to decide what system to go with. Options were ToughSystem, TSTAK, Systainers, or Ridgid boxes. I posted before NPS17 that I hoped Milwaukee would come out with their own storage solution. To my excitement they announced Packout. Unfortunately later that night I started seeing prices on Instagram. I made a rule right then that the only way I was getting them was if Milwaukee sent me a set to review.

Well that didn't happen so I priced them out last week and it was going to be right around $500 for one of each tool box, a large organizer, two compact organizers, and the 20" tote. Which would have been the bare minimum I needed for my tools. I then priced out the TSTAK's and they came out to $235. I believe the ToughSystem boxes I priced out a few months ago were going to be around $600-650, the Ridgid around $400 (ruled out due to lack of box sizes), and the Systainers were a complete joke at almost $1000.

For the same $500 I bought 2x TSTAK II's, 1x TSTAK III, 1x TSTAK IV,  1x Deep TSTAK, a Southwire Tools 15" Tote, Southwire Tools Bluetooth multimeter, and a M18 Stand Light (with free 5ah battery). I'm going to order more TSTAK's after I see what fits in each size so I don't end up with extra boxes of a size that are not needed. Everything but the TSTAK II's arrive Wednesday (unless FedEx gets them here early).

Milwaukee is unfortunate trying to to compete with the ToughSystem and Veto like they are Stabila with their RedStick levels (another Milwaukee item I refuse to buy into).

  11. You know I wanted it at first, but for the money I think I'm going to skip it.

It looks like it would be useful but at $200 it's not coming to my house unless Milwaukee sends me one. I already overpaid for their tech bag because I thought it would be useful I'm not paying double the cost of it for this.

  12. It's ok I just got one it's got a small canaater and filter, not great for dust but good for bigger stuff

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Now I'm wondering if my cousin messed her's up somehow because when I tried it I couldn't get it to suck up bigger pieces of material but it did ok on most smaller things like saw dust.

  13. I'm planning on buying this 31071d20-b2f2-4c33-bf07-3ca60eb0696e_1000.jpg
Anybody know how good it is?

It sucks! It's good for vacuuming out a vehicle and cleaning up small amounts of things like saw or drywall dust but that's about it. The filter also clogs quickly. The M18 vacuum is a lot more handy and has stronger suction so it will pickup larger chunks.

  14. Was tired of carrying around more weight than necessary with my surge driver so.....
    32116918854_929a1805c1_b.jpg .
$38 a piece on Amazon shipped, they may go lower in price but I was done waiting, maybe once did I see them for about $36.xx including shipping, should have jumped on it then..

Not a fan of the 9.0 on the Surge?

  15. I bought a very similar milwaukee set and that made no sense to me either. The socket adapter is also smooth shank. I returned it and got one from makita that is much better

I'm slowly switching over to Wiha, Wera, and Felo bits because I really hate the 1" bits that come in all the big tool companies kits. I'd much rather have at least 2", if not 3" bits.

  16. Sorry I've been so absent lately y'all, it's been a hell of a month.
Well here's the last few weeks of purchases.

Loved the kompact so much I picked up an RA!

Also picked up some combination inserts for them.

Also got a good deal on Amazon for the knipex. Still waiting on the 12" to arrive. Picked up the insulated bit flip, and the Klein 5125 for the helper/apprentice. He loves the Klein canvas bags. They are a classic.

The Felo bits are nice. I bought a couple packs of the PH2 when they were tool of the day before Thanksgiving. They feel so light that I'm afraid I will break them but so far they work great.

  17. I just checked and my HD has 4 in stock...they will have 3 in stock after Monday!

If your Home Depot is anything like mine when I went for my bandsaw, that they had 4 of in stock, they will all be in the overstock area mocking you as you helplessly look for an employee.

Good advice, guys! I hope mine is in a good batch where they fixed whatever issue they were having with those vibration issues.

Yeah, I can definitely see having different uses for each sander.

I haven't had a chance to try mine out yet but I'm hoping for the same. My plan is to use my Milwaukee for anything under 100 grit and the Festool for 120 and up.

  19.
So you're still figuring out why you received it? haha I use these all the time for black iron pipe and cast iron

I know why I received it. I signed up for it when Toolpig had a link for it on Instagram where the first 100 people got to try it out. But that was back in November or December so I'm not sure why I got it now. I'm also trying to figure out why they emailed me about reviewing the 7-1/4" tracking point blade when they never sent me the blade to try. Something weird is going on at Diablo. I emailed them about the 7-1/4" blade regarding them wanting a review and let them know I had just received the Steel Demon I signed up for at least a month before and questioned why I hadn't received an email about reviewing it.

I'm so confused. Milwaukee and Southwire made it easy.

"Hey you want to review this?" - Them
    "Yes!" - Me
