Is a Brad nailer the right guage to hang window trim and do baseboards?   Or is that 16 guage?  Still learning all of these numbers.

I would recommend a 15 ga finish nailer for that. I do trim quite a bit and am always angry at the result of a 16 ga finish nailer. With the 16 ga. I'm always having the trim pop out when it comes to butting up the 45 degree cross cut. The nails just aren't as strong as the 15 ga.

I own the Milwaukee 15 Ga nailer kit and it is amazing! but price is a doezy...

  2. I know the Dewalt 6 gal pancake compressor is pretty good I dropped that off a 30 ft. roof and still works and looks fine,

DEWALT 6 Gal. Heavy Duty Air Compressor Combo Kit

This one comes the a brad and hose already...

180$ is more than halfway to your budget, after this buy you can be a little more flexible and spend the rest of your money on a nailer you need for your next project.

I agree with Brian, I wouldn't recommend Ford Tools they may seem cool to have but the the price isn't reasonable.... A well known Brand + Brushed Motor Doesn't equal Good Quality Tools

I would rather choose Milwaukee 5 year tool warranty, Continues innovation, and Brushless motors:D

  5. I have both M12 and M18 and really can't refer one... I have to refer both, but if anything Go for Fuel it is really powerful!! The m12 line is for light and substantial work, were a quick grab of some m12 battery's and tools and your set and ready for some light duty work.

But the M18 line can do pretty much everything you can throw at it. So if it were between the two lines I would go for M18 line and again Fuel is the way to go! :)

Unless you want to start doubling up batteries, etc. there's going to come a point where Milwaukee can't keep up to Makita and FlexVolt with power. It's great that they want to keep forward-compatibility but there's only so much they can do. They'll end up with 20700 batteries and the runtime and draw will make new tools a possibility, but running a current 3.0-5.0 on it will mean your runtime is limited enough to be disappointing. It will all but force you to upgrade batteries, but for the "but what if I need just one more cut" guys will be satiated.

Will see... You never know what the future holds. lol

Fuel grinder with 5.0...works fine yeah. Mitre saw works but is less than ideal and it's a baby blade instead of full size. You can burn 9.0 in a pile of red tools though with no problems.

I would rather pay for a baby blade rather than a big full sized blade.

You can frame plenty with a 2731 with a 5.0. Even more with a 9.0. Or use two 18v batteries and have even more power than FlexVolt with the new Makita rear-handle. A circular saw isn't the tool I'd go to to prove that point. Moreso the high draw tools like you said. It will be interesting to see comparisons between SDS Max Fuel and FlexVolt. The 20700 cells make all the difference. NPS17 will be interesting. "New M18 Fuel batteries: Fuel 6.0, Fuel 9.0: 1.1x redder than FlexVolt, 10x more innovative than standard RedLithium".

Yep as I said their never will be a "stop" on tool innovation lol...

I really feel like this year was a lot of wins for DeWalt, and there really started to be cracks in Milwaukee's armour.

I feel just the opposite, And agree with @JimboS1ice, Milwaukee just didn't need to get into the big picture here, I think Dewalt just couldn't keep up with Milwaukee and had to try something to get everyone's attention. And I think they did a good job, using Flexvolt for leverage between them and Milwaukee but in the end If milwaukee comes out with something more innovated than flexvolt capabilites I'm sure the never ending race will keep on going. To me If those battery's get any bigger I'm going to have to hit the gym!

Never been asked for receipt when using eservice through their website. But that is for smaller items that are easy to ship, I can see taking the miter saw somewhere to avoid the hassles of shipping.

For the Surge I would highly recommend going to their website and filling out the form. They pay shipping both ways, they don't care where u bought it from you don't need a receipt, you get it back in 7-10 days. No dealing with incompetent service centers.

Lol I guess you could do this to. :)

You don't need a receipt for Milwaukee, it goes off of the serial number production date which would be with in 5 years

Yes, but they want to know if it was bought from an authorized tool dealer.

I know this, because it happened to me with their Fuel miter saw it had a bad handle it was brand new so I thought I didn't need a receipt because it was under the five years...

anyways they told me I needed a receipt so they cold tell if I bought it by an authorized tool dealer! :o thankfully I  got it pulled up my pro extra account and was able  to find the receipt they emailed me whewww!

Also got a new computer and found out!

It's not fun typing on a small keyboard. :(

A friend of mine bought his first Milwaukee product after using my Surge and the bit falls out sometimes. When you look at the quick chuck you can see a piece of spring sticking out of the back.  He purchased it on eBay with a charger and 2 2.0 batteries.  Should he take it to a local Milwaukee repair center or send it back to Milwaukee?

    Thanks

Well I'm pretty sure they will decline both unless you have original receipt of it being bought at an authorized tool dealer. my best bet is take it back through Ebay.

If you're hoping someone here is going to talk you out of buying tools, I'm afraid you've come to the wrong place.

Your certainly right! I just needed to rest about it. I pretty much had to stay off the Internet so I wouldn't be tempted from buying it. Then waking up to the polisher still available!
