Most Adjustable shoe recip saws end up being no-shoe recip saws

I agree. I love the adjustable shoe on Makita's saber saws (they survive heavy beatings) but I rarely use it. I prefer to keep a set of blades with various lengths and use them accordingly, in which brings back to breakway blades. I rather pick an appropriate blade, use it, detach it then throw the saber saw back into my toolbox or workstation.

What do you mean with less holding power ? :)

He meant the likelihood of weaker fastening with d-head nails. As for residential construction in New Zealand, majority of timber framing is done with Paslode d-head nails. What is the regulation of clipped head nails in North America?

I am looking forward to having a play with this at the June Makita Expo. Would be nice to win one on the night. Looking forward to other new Makita tools that are in the pipeline too.

Christchurch, huh? I am going to the Auckland Expo next month. Sweet as!

The only sad part is the rumoured 60v plugin adapter is dead.

Bugger. I really wanted that adapter so I can cord the tablesaw and the upcoming SDS+ drill if needed. Another innovational disappointment in the Flexvolt range.

As for the 120v max table saw, I will wait and compare it to the size and weight of 54v before making a purchase.

  5. TSTAK housing for the lasers is an excellent choice because people won't have to spend additional money to be in Dewalt's storage system. As for the 10.8v battery, I am not happy about it because I will have to carry an additional charger and batteries. It's just a logistical nuisance. Plain and simple. It might be a lesser issue if you work alone or don't have to deal with subcontractors because power outlets will be always available.

I don't know why 18v batteries cannot be used for this line of Dewalt lasers. Does it have to do with size and weight? Because if I want a compact and lightweight laser, I would spend extra money and purchase a PLS laser or an AA powered laser.

So what do I want from this line of Dewalt lasers? I want the convenience of the brand's ecosystem. That means a 18v battery powered laser so I can take a 18v 2.0ah battery out of DCN660 or DCF620 and put it onto the laser. A seamless workflow but why can't we have that?

I have one and it's unreal. Best cordless fan on the market. Only thing I don't like is the run times isn't the greatest

That's good to hear. Oscillation is a deciding factor for me because rooms with limited ventilation can quickly become a roasting oven. Unfortunately, this upcoming Dewalt fan doesn't seem to have one.

Is it better than the Milwaukee recip? Didn't know if it was allowed to be beaten.

Bosch's recip saw might have fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down but now every recip saw is going to face its retribution. Haha!

Do any cordless fans oscillate? In my experience oscillation is highly unreliable, and the first thing to fail on a fan.

Makita DCF300. I have yet to see it in person though.

@muddychip I would've thought modular storage would be bigger around here but its not.

It's not big down here as well. If you look at most of the tradies' vehicles, it is a trainwreck mess of mismatch boxes and bags. I guess it comes down to personality.

Back on the topic of trimmer kit. If it comes in Makpac, I am going to sell the sucker and put the trimmer into my toughsystem box. I know I will get good money for it because they are expensive.

  10. N.A. as in North America? But yeah, I spotted a stackable box from Hitachi for its triple hammer impact driver kit (x2 6.0ah). I do hope it is a sign that Hitachi is standardizing their tstaks because it will put Makita behind its competitors in terms of packaging/protection and storage solution. So they will stop dumping their cheap contractor's bags and boxes to consumers that have invested in their products.
