Anybody with an update on their experiences or thoughts about either of these saws?
I dont know about these ones with bigger blades, but my LS0815FL is perfectly square, and the detents have no play. I dont see any need for a bigger bladed saw with the long rails on this one.

Personally, i move a lot from site site, so having (labelled) boxes for everything is nice. I also keep all of the accessories for a specific tool in its box. When ever I arrive to a job, I take my hand tools bag and my Makpac with a drill, impact, charger, 4 5Ah batteries, bits etc. Then when I see the job, i bring the rest off the stuff I need.
-
I've personally bought a box designed for that tool, even if the tool was bought bare. Except for a chainsaw and recip saw, all of my tools live in Makpacs or hitachi equivalents.

Few framers I know keep telling me that Dewalt cordless framing guns keep breaking a spring every 10,000 nails or so. They've switched back to Paslode, and one of them is "trying out" a single Hitachi cordless gun.

Send it in for repairs. Sounds like something is wrong with the mechanism holding the piston in air cylinder

Sounds good look forward to that info...maybe a quick photo too!? Thanks!
Ill definitely post some photos. I cant find any of the case and the insert. @dwain i think you had one for the review? How was it?

Thanks for the info, I think I will ultimately outfit a Milwaukee Packout case to fit my gun and gear using one of their foam inserts, just would've been nice to have an upgraded case,
Still havent received mine, its just about 30km away, or so the tracking says... Will be here on Monday, hopefully. I can then tell what size of Makpac like case it is, and what I think about the insert, and if the insert will fit a Makpac, I have 4 sizes so i can compare and test. I dont know how much of a thing Makpac is in the states (I see lot of soft bags in the tool review videos), but if you can get them, you could just order the insert overseas.

...indulge me.
Seals on hose and other parts are much more important than pure motor power. I've used vacs with 1000W and 2000W of power and similar design, with the 1000W one having much better suction, due to not leaking and losing vacuum at connection points so much.

LOL 50W. That's a joke vacuum cleaner.
I don't even understand how can power tool companies be incapable of manufacturing a decent vac, considering their batteries can output 300-400W.
All cordless vacs are completely useless, except the Dyson, which outputs 350W+ and it's almost as powerful as corded vacs.
My wife has a Makita DCL500 cordless vac and she loves it. Plenty powerful enough. Motor power is not everything when it comes to vacuums...

Requiring as many as 6 or 8 packs for continuous operation might be difficult to sell, but having access to the wide range of 18v and 36v tools could compensate for that.
Well, that wouldnt be a problem for people like me who have ten of 5Ah Makita batteries. Then again, I know im in a very small minority.

Yeah best to ignore the obvious troll really.
Altho I agree that x3 or x4 shouldn't be done
X3 or X4 could be useful on something like a backpack blower. But not anything handheld, definitely.

X3 and X4 are unrealistic. Way too large to be useful.
Even X2 makes the tools very bulky. Like that weird and fugly angle grinder that's larger and has waaay less power than the cheapest no-name corded model equivalent.
People need to realise that the cordless fad is not sustainable. Very few power tools are suited for current battery technology. Drills, drivers, and that's pretty much it. Unless you are willing to sacrifice power, runtime and size/weight for the advantage of being cordless..
I dont know in which year you live in or what tools you have been using. Me and plenty of other pros are using as many cordless tools as possible.

Are there other hints that Makita could release a X4 platform?
Earlier this year, a Makita rep told me about a new tool factory being built in Germany and a new platform in the 50-100v range, which I thought would correspond to the 58v mentioned by Kornomaniac.
Could that new platform be X4? It seems that Makita keeps releasing X2 tools, (the DLM461z mower among other). With 4 slots chargers being released by other brands, could that make sense?
X3 would be 54V and X4 would be 72V

If they made an aftermarket hard case with storage for the nailer, charger and two batteries I would buy it today.
In Finland the kit comes in a hard case. Its basically a Makpac in Hitachi green and grey. Just ordered the paper tape one last night from a clearance sale, because of name change to Hikoki

Youll be looking at 6 ½ saw if you want a minimum of 2inch depth cut, cant do that with a 5inch.
Edit: or a 136mm blade at minimum, whatever that is in inches, over 5inch anyways, closer to like 5½

Things im still wanting: A hot glue gun, decent 18g nailer, a framing nailer.

Looks like that thing just has 15 18650cells in it, just looking at the picture and how big it seems to be. Makita could do that any time they wanted to, but theres no point really.

Dhr264 is just a waaaay too old inefficient 2 pole motor from 9 years old or so
Even if it is a old design, its what available from Makita in that category.

And that isn't enough?
I get by most of the time just fine, but with all the tools I have, I keep having a feeling that I could use two more batteries and third twin charger, so I could have all of my batteries full in the morning.
edit: Especially when using the DUC353 chainsaw at the same time as DHR264, as Im also usually using atleast a third tool.

With the tools that are overheating then I can see the requirement. However with much of the X2 OPE gear there's no space for expansion or larger batteries anyway.
Makita don't have a rotary hammer which needs any more than they currently offer. We'll see what the DHR282 is like but it's not a requirement and more of a desire.
Just do what I do, take more than one battery to work with you and you'll be fine.
DHR282 probably helps a bit, being brushless, but the current DHR264 certainly could use more runtime.
Im packing 9 5Ah batteries and two twin chargers with me at work.

Not much but the large grinders and chainsaws are the tools at the moment that overheat Makita batteries. They could use bigger battery packs for runtime prefably with 21700 cells so they won't overheat so quickly.
On other tools I wouldn't see the need for bigger heavier packs. A convenience perhaps in some situations but not needed
Rotary hammers could also use a bigger capacity packs.

Being realistic, what woild a SS or HD battery give you that you don't already have?
Not much is the answer.
Same runtime in a lighter/more compact package or more runtime in same size/weight of package.
OTH, especially bigger Makita drills and full size impacts are made to be used with big batteries. The balance just isnt right with a 1.5/2.0Ah slim battery.
So, is there any options for blade left, top handle 7 1/4" cordless circ saw?

Title basically says it all. Basically, a Makita DHS680/XSH03 scalep up to 7 1/4 would be perfect. Are there any?
