Flex has been an awesome performer so far, but the company is really pushing hard for the Pro crowd with a limited number of offerings. It’s gonna be a while before Flex and Milwaukee are mentioned in the same breath professionally.
For the average Joe……Flex is definitely what could be next. Then it just becomes a matter of budget. If I wasn’t already heavily invested in another platform. It would be between Flex and Kobalt XTR for my DIY dollar.

Lowes sale enticed me to buy another V20 tool for my Craftsman collection. I spent $99 dollars on the 18ga Brad nailer which is just a Porter Cable in red.
This thing is pretty damn good though. Been playing with it to see how it needs to be positioned for work and it is a capable tool. Makes me think the 23ga pin nailer should be my next pick up.
Not sure if I want the 16ga nailer, but I’ll consider the 21 degree framer once it comes down in price.

I stopped waiting on this and just bought the corded Bauer one from Harbor Freight. This should be out sometime next year.
The Bauer one seems to be a clone of a Makita.

Lee valley is a respected company. You can find cheaper items on Amazon. So it's really up to how much you want to pay for an off brand.

The front of my house may look weirder now, but gong solar was one of the best decisions I ever made. Even paying the lease option, my electric bill is smaller than pre solar bills. $600/700 dollar bills are now down to $200/300ish including the lease payment of $150.

Well if by old you mean NiCad batteries, then yes. Most current major brands have established a battery form factors that have remained unchanged for years. I'd consider the power tool market fairly stable right now. Battery tech is changing, but most brands now actively make sure everything is backwards compatible if it's not a completely new tool launch.
It is fair to say though that sometimes, some brands fall out of favor and are phased out as bigger companies buy out smaller ones. It's the nature of the beast.

Honestly, any brand will get the job done. If your going for strictly home use, I'd recommend Ryobi. They seem to cater most of their products to home owners. Ryobi also tends to be easier on the wallet on a day to day basis excluding any sales. About the only drawback to Ryobi is how their battery looks, but most non trades people look past it if it gets the job done.
My second choice with a ton of options and better quality would be Makita.

I used a brushless grinder to redo my garage doors. Outside of the constant battery swaps, it got the job done.

If the images I saw on my Craftsman facebook group are real. Then Craftsman will be debuting a brushless trim router, brushless one handed recip saw, brushless high impact wrench, and a brushed gardening drill for planting. Check them out. Too bad they won't be here for Father's Day.

I would just use a larger router designed for larger bits. I learned a long time ago that it’s not always wise to make a tool a Jack of all Trades. Secondly, god forbid something happens and you have no financial recourse because you altered the tool from its intended limits.
As a firefighter, I always err on the side of caution.

Finish Nailer? Brad nailer? Framing nailer? What use are you going for exactly?
Milwaukee Fuel is their top model in all of their offerings. It really comes down to which type of nails you’re gonna use. For instance with the framing nailers. One uses full round head nails and the other uses clipped nails.
