2manytools
Have an EGO power head (PH1400) that isn't working. I suspect the motor, because when i apply power directly to it, it sparks as if it is shorted out. However, there is no continuity when i ground the power lead to the case, plus the motor passes the spin test. When i disconnect the power leads, i get 56v between the + and - terminals in the connector (battery side) when the trigger (switch) is closed. But plugging the connector back to the motor and pulling the trigger will not result in the unit turning on. Thoughts?
Jronman
can you confirm it is the tool and not the battery? If it is the tool and under warranty you might be able to get a free replacement. The easiest experience I have had with Ego is when they have me send it to them and not a local service center. I would recmmend doing what you can to convince Ego to let you send it to Ego and not a local service center. If it is out of warranty then you best option is to replace the power head with a new one. Trying to get it fixed might even cost you more to fix than to replace.
