chadlanthier
I see these patterns forming on lower glass and I'm thinking the seal on glass needs to be replaced. Am I wrong and do I need to jump on it right away. Also is a pain to do.
ChrisK
Chad, This is my second season with mine and haven't seen that before. Does the seal look like its fraying or coming loose?
ChrisK
Also are using any chemicals on the glass (winded or soap) or do just use a wet paper towel to clean the glass when you clean the stove?
chadlanthier
It doesnt appear to be fraying and the only thing I use is wet paper towels.
chadlanthier
Scratch comment above it looks like rope behind glass is intact but rope that goes around glass at bottom is gone.

madman_us
it kinda looks like smut build up on the glass to me.take the door off, go outside, spray oven cleaner on the glass, let it sit for 5 mins, and scrape it off with a scraper.clean the surface with cooktop glass cleaner. chadlanthier
Thanks madman. I understand the sut, it's the pattern. It leads me to believe there is a leak. Went to store and got wrong gasket, oh well start again tomorrow.
madman_us
ok, keep us posted how it works with a new gasket
chadlanthier
Just took off old gasket, it was basically attached in one spot. Harmon uses a peel and stick gasket which cement appears to have failed. Just bought rope gasket and gasket cement. Hopefully this does the trick. ChrisK
Alright dude! Just cleaned mine out and was inspecting it. Maybe over the summer I'll replace it, I'd like to see and hear how you make out!
chadlanthier
Chris it was pretty straight forward. The hardest thing was trying to squeeze the gasket cement out of the tube. That was a bitch. It seems air tight, and seems to be burning a little more efficient.
