Ryobi Chuck broken?

I’ve got a Ryobi rpd1010 mains drill up until now it’s performed great. I use it maybe once a month if that. The keyless chuck started playing up by not opening just going round on a clutch type thing when try to open and close the jaws. I can get it to open and close fully if I turn the Chuck for long enough. I’ve been oiling it with 3 in 1 and soaking it in wd40 and gently tapping the jaws with a hammer and it seems to be slightly improving but the Chuck still ratchets away as you turn it in either direction. Is the Chuck broken or can it be salvaged? Any hints greatly appreciated.
