  1. Sounds good.  Never fried a turkey but everyone I talk to says it's a must.  I smoked a Turkey the other day.  I ended up getting busy so never basted it or covered it.  Cooked it at 225 for a couple of hours and then 300 for a couple of hours.  In the end it was surprisingly juicy and tasted great.  Only could imagine if I did it the right way with basting.

  2. LOL, well today is the day.  Going to try and smoke it today with a slow cook and then turn the heat up for the last 3 hours.  I have seen some people cover the turkey in the last part and some say do not.  I am trying it where I do not cover the Turkey for the last part of cooking.  I am afraid it will be dry but let's see.

  3. I have the Makita and I have three short rails I use.  If I am doing a bunch of long cuts in nice wood, I will connect them.  I have to admit, I am a little lazy and sometimes even use the short track to cut long pieces.  Once I mark everything out, I make my first cut, I have to stop and adjust the track to the new position. In the end, it still produces a clean straight cut.

I know this isn't what you are supposed to do but my point is, using the track, getting a straight clean cut is extremely easy.

When I have two tracks together, there is no overlap and the track is pretty much edge-to-edge.  I am still able to rip 8' cuts clean and simple.

Overall if you are only cutting on occasional longer pieces, moving the track is easy and fast and produces a great cut.  Yes, if you plan on cutting long cuts all the time, go with the longer track.  I am just not sure the best way to store them so they do not warp over time.

  4. We have some of the boxes and I have to say so far they are great, they really surprised.  Overall the boxes seem rugged and tough.  I like the single lever open and lock.  The latch is big so you not fumbling around.  Not sure but the boxes seem bigger than the Milwaukee.  Attaching them together is extremely easy, maybe even easier than the Milwaukee.  Once they are locked, they seem to hold together well.  Unlocking them is just a lever and you can pull up.  So far very impressive.

  5. Sweet, sounds like a good feast.  I am sure I asked this about your Blackstone but forgot.  Does your top lay flat?  When i got mine, it was warped.  I called them and said it was common, which seemed weird.  They said that after 7 times of using it, it will lay flat.  While they were right, there are times when the bend will come back which is annoying when trying to cook.

  6. LOL, I hope we can still say that, but probably not for much longer.  That's awesome you have that by you for training.  I know we have some stuff by us.  I am just in a catch 22.  I need to do this with my 15 yr old but finding the time and money is hard, but I need to get my kids out there and be trained.

  7. Yes, it would be hard to get rid of those items, and think it would be very cool to have them around for the kids and grandkids.  All that stuff would be hard to part with and don't think I would.  It's like my FD stuff, I keep it since I retired, not sure why except it has some memories and I know that was mine stuff I wore.  I just have to get over the hump of getting rid of stuff I do not need like 20 fishing rods.  I only need a couple, it's stuff like that.
