  1. I like Bosch and these German brands. Their quality and engineering is amazing. I didn't know they had a planer either but that's a nice tool to have cordless if one needs it

needs? since when are power tools about needs? think you need to do some contemplation Javier! (just kidding, i know you're a tool nut too!)

  2. As some of you may have noticed, I really like my Bosch gear. I'm beginning to think that if I could only keep one of my platforms (20V Dewalt and 18v Bosch), that it might be the Bosch.

Now I've got this on the way: http://sydneytools.com.au/bosch-18v-li-lon-cordless-planer-skin-only

It's only got one blade (which makes me a little nervous), but apparently their blades are great. Whats more they are cheap, and double sided! http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-PA1202-Woodrazor-Tungsten-Carbide/dp/B00020J1Q2/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I'll probably post a review of this tool sometime soon (or maybe even a comparison with the 18v Makita), but for now, I'm just excited for a new toy! Big Lboxx is a nice bonus too :)

  3. Great job Javier!

So from your results, the FUEL is a MUCH better masonry driller, while the 995 is the better (only in runtime) in high torque applications. Is that an accurate summary?

Which is your favoured drill? (ignoring other questions of platform commitment etc.)

  4. Funny thing is this new tool blows away anything out there and yet still more negative posts. If it was red would it be groundbreaking? Ford vs Chevy.

I don't see the talk about "where have you been". Makita has been an innovator in the industry. It seems most believe everything they read. Makita has been first and front running in many of the coolest new tools I've read about. Seems like some companies just get more press. Makita was the first with 18v lithium, hasn't changed the battery platform with lithium, first with brushless, largest lithium line, X2 tools, and that's just cordless. Ford vs Chevy.

you do make some good points. but you can't blame USERS for having a bitter taste in the mouth after significant battery issues. That would be very frustrating. And its all a bit too fresh to be annoying users now with battery compatability issues.

But yes, they have a huge line and some great tools. Its unfortunate that their compact drills (the most useful tool in the world) have copped such a hard time. My mate has 2 different recent compacts from Makita and is quite dissapointed. But I would be happy to own Makita.

also, this drill needs to be market tested before it 'blows away' the competition. I don't however buy any crap about the masonry performance being the main point in a hammer drill.

  5. Makita have some really nice tools (Impact Driver, Planer etc) and some really cool tools (2x18V tools, ROS). They also have a huge range.

But they're issues with the batteries (reliability and now compatibility) and very poor offering in compact drills is a real blow.
