  1. Why is there 5 posts? Does this battery have the protective electronic like the DC9180?
  2. I noticed there is 3 posts. +, -, & the middle one is?
  3. I know that on NiCad batteries the first hour in the charger it charges, then the next 8 hours it does a tune up mode. Does the Li-Ion do the same tune up mode? http://forum.drc.su/dewalt-nano-14-4v-18v-28v-36v-battery-technology-faq-vt4382.html
  4. I have 4 of these 18V batteries. I also have 4 of the yellow chargers. I just bought these batteries (new), but are stamped as 2010. I left the batteries in the chargers for 2 days straight. Then pulled all 4 of them to get the voltage with a high quality digital meter. They all read 19.9V exactly. I do realize they were fresh off the charger & not under a load. Without opening the packs, how would I know if mine has the Sony or A123 cells inside? Maybe the packs with 'NANO' on the side has the A123 cells & the newer packs with 'XRP' is the Sony?
  5. I just ordered 4 new DC9180 Li-Ion off internet. Only used DC9096 NiCd before. Does the Li-Ion stay on the charger 24/7 when not in use also? What is the Ah of the nexer version? What does 'sleep mode' do exactly & does it automatically come out of that mode when placed in a charger? When did Dewalt use NiMh batteries, maybe the first cordless tool kind? I found this article interesting, it talks about Dewalt Li-Ion being more safe then standard ones: http://forum.drc.su/cordless-power-tool-batteries-nicd-vs-nimh-vs-liion-vt4187.html
  6. The DCD710 drill/driver produces 220 in/lbs torque. http://www.protoolreviews.com/reviews/power-tools/cordless/combo-kits/dewalt-dck211s2
  7. Does it still have the model # DC9180 or is it now listed as a different model? The above model is the best 18v Dewalt has, cause I think there is a compact version too? I went to go buy some today at Home Depot & Lowe's, they both said that they got rid of them on clearance.
  8. Nice collection. Never have too many drills. I work construction, i have several DC759s & DCD970s.

  10. I bought the newly designed model DC759KA several years ago. It came with 2 of the full sized black top non-XRP batteries, black charger, & kit box. The batteries lasted around 2 years. Then I bought a few of the 2-pack yellow top XRP ones for $110 a pack at the Home Depot Christmas sales. It is the oldest DeWalt tool I have, & it has given me no problems yet. When I bought the DC759KA it was advertised as having 450 in lbs of torque, but that was before they changed the measurement to UWO (Unit Watts Out), which it is now labeled as 380 UWO. Back then it was $280, but the prices have come down since. Last year I bought 3 of the DCD970s for more heavy duty jobs, but I still prefer the DC759KA for 90% of my construction jobs. If I were in the market for a new compact drill, I would get the DCD760KL. Not saying this because the DC759 is a bad drill. Just because the DCD760 has the new smaller base, an LED worklight, and it might be a little smaller & less weight then the DC759.

    DeWalt Radio

The only way you could do that, that I know of, is to install a power inverter on the Gator (which changes 12v DC to 110v AC). You would'nt need a very big one as long as your not going to use any of the 3 AC outlets on the side of the radio to run any powertools. I seen a Black & Decker one at Walmart automotive dept, its 400 watts for around $40, just bolt/screw it onto a panel and wire it in with the included wiring - you dont need a cigerette lighter for this one.
  12. From what I have seen and heard of it, I wouldnt mind owning one myself. For basic construction or just various around the house tasks, I am sure it would do well.
  13. I am also having this problem with a new set of DeWALT DC9096-2 batteries I just bought in Oct '09.
  14. You can also get the bare tools here: http://www.toolbarn.com/dewalt-xrpkit.html Or at eBay (my advise - make sure they are new tools, correct voltage, nano base version, the seller has a high Feedback Score & has good Positive Feedback, and look for a "Top-rated seller" so you wont get burned): http://www.ebay.com/
  15. Does it seem like this newer yellow charger tends to be a little sensitive, meaning that it tends to flash the fast blinking light ("Replace Pack") often? My older black charger never had this problem.
  16. It looks like to me the DCD775 can take a 360 degree side handle? I wonder what the DCD, DC, DW... at the front of the model number stands for?
