  1. Well I found an adapter that the 2 1/2" hose connector fits right into on one end and the other end fits over the DWS780 dust pickup tube nice and snug. Tomorrow I'll get a chance to try it out. There should be plenty of suction at the saw end. I also picked up a package of shop vac bags. This way the expensive Hepa filter won't plug up from all the dust and the bag will add another layer of filtration. Anything that's messy will be confined inside the bag for disposal. Hope this bag filter works out OK, never tried one before and there not cheap either.
  2. Looks like the small end is what the 2 1/2" hose screws onto. So the large end would be way to big for the saw dust port. I think that adapter is 4". I've checked out those fittings at HD and Lowes and haven't found an exact fit yet. This is insane, why would anyone make a tool that has the feature for dust collection and not provide adapters that fit the most common size shop vac hoses on the market.
  3. The inside diameter (ID) is 1 5/16", the outside diameter (OD) is 1 1/2". I need an adapter that allows 1 end to slip inside of or fit over the outside of the dust pickup tube on the saw and the other end fits a 2 1/2" shop vac hose.
  4. I have a Ridgid 12 Gal shop vac with 2.5" hose. I'm trying to find the best way to connect the hose to the dust pickup tube on the DWS780. I would think someone must make an adapter to do this but I haven't had much luck finding one yet. Most shop vacs have a 1.25" or 2.5" hose. I don't want to duct tape it together even though it would work. I'm looking for a simple adapter that connects everything together for a tight clean fit. Anyone found one that will work?
  5. Talk about a coincidence. This must be a sign from the DeWalt Gods. I bet there will be some of these new tools in my future.
  6. When did these get announced? I just happened to go on DeWalts web site and it popped up. I saw the Brushless Impact Driver when they came out and figured it was just a matter of time and they would offer this feature on other tools. I guess I've been way to busy and haven't had time to keep up with all the new things. That new stuff looks cool.
  7. Well I contacted DeWalt about this and here is what they had to say. <The center of the kerf plates, by design is on the right hand side of the body of the blade (or the surface of the inner clamp washer). Therefore, the blade will be biased to the left kerf plate.> So this concludes the mystery of DeWalt's DWS780 offset blade.
  8. That's exactly what I was talking about guess mines not the only one like that. Not a big deal but there has to be a reason why it's like that right. Surprised somebody hasn't figured it out yet. I'm not going to loose any sleep over it but I will find the answer eventually. Thanks for checking your saw and posting the picture.
  9. It's the DWS780. Both kerf plates have slotted holes so they can be adjusted. Both plates are as far from the blade as they can go. The blade is closer to the left plate with a very small gap were as the right plate has a very wide gap between the blade. The right plate can be adjusted to the left so that the gap spacing is equal on both sides of the blade. I was just wondering why the saw blade wasn't centered between both plates from the factory. Looks odd it's off center. I've never seen another miter saw that wasn't centered. Didn't know if there was a way to adjust this or not, didn't see anything in the manual on this. Hmm I wonder if it has something to do with the blade having a 1"" hole vs a 5/8" hole. Think I read something about not needing an adapter with the 5/8" hole. I"ll have to read it again.
  10. Well just a follow up the jam nut attempt worked like a charm. Saws all mounted on the the stand and ready to go. I checked everything and all adjustments are spot on right out if the box, thanks DeWalt. Anyone know why the blade wouldn't be centered between the two yellow plastic kerf plates. It is very close to the left side. Is there anyway to adjust this or is this normal?
  11. Anyone have some suggestions on how to remove those factory installed 5mm Allen screws on the top of the DWX726 without stripping the Allen head out. They were obviously driven in with a power tool, there's no way they will come out using that cheap wrench supplied with it. I don't have a 1/4" drive 5mm Allen bit so using the impact driver is out. I'm going to try 2 jam nuts on the opposite end. Maybe I can free them up with a hand wrench. I can only find 1 metric nut in my entire stash of nuts and bolts so I'll have to pick up another one as soon as I can get to the store. I know I'm not the first one to have a problem with this. I found the same complaints on 2 other reviews for this mitersaw stand. I suppose I should mention that the quality and workmanship of this stand is fanominal. I have never seen anything so well packed to prevent any damage during shipping. To bad the factory assembly workers aren't aware that they need to use less force on those seres. Nobody needs this kind of crap when your trying to put the darn thing together. ARGGGGGHHHH!
  12. I almost went with the dwx723, I can see were it would come in handy. After giving it much thought I decided to go with the dwx726 only because I won't have to carry it anymore and it can be stored vertically secured to a wall etc. and it takes up less space in this position. If you really want to be picky, you can find room for improvement with either stand. That's odd that Lowes wouldn't match Home Depot, it was a Dewalt promotional sale not a store promotional. I think if you had spoke to a store manager you might have had a choice. Both stands are $199.
  13. Well I decided to go with the DWX726 mainly because I'm getting to old and tired of lifting and carrying a mitersaw. This way I can leave it attached to the stand and store it upright and secured to a wall. Should be a lot easier moving it up and down stairs with wheels. I have portable roller supports that I can use when cutting longer boards. I took advantage of the DeWalt promotional on the DWS780 and free stand for $599.00. I got an additional 10% off on top of it. I'll use the money I saved for some extra blades. My old mitersaw is all cast iron and weighs about as much as the new saw and stand combined. My aching back!
  14. Would you choose and why? DWX726 or the DWX723 trying to find out which of these two is the most popular and if there are any known problem issues with either one.
  15. Yes my impact driver has a burning odor when it's running. Doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the way it operates just has that odor. The drill driver that came with it in the kit smells also. This is the second one that had that same odor. Took the first one back because it to had that odor and I thought there was something wrong with it. I used them all last summer and the summer before running in hundreds of deck screws and drilling holesvand theynstill smell like their burning. Don't think it's ever going to go away.
  16. I was refering to Home Depot and Lowes mainly, they carry quite a few DeWalt tools there. I understand what your saying. I remember the owner of the local Harley Dealer telling me how he had to add on to his shop or loose the Harley Dealership. Harley told him if he was going to continue selling their motorcyles he had to carry more of their merchandise including a full line of motorclothes. He didnt have the room for all this gear without adding on so he had to expand. A lot of Dealers went out of business when Harley started enforcing that rule. Now I know DeWalt is not a franchise business but I'm just ia little surprised they don't have more influence on the dealers as to what they need to carry. The people in charge of purchasing at these businesses obviously don't have a clue what they should be carrying in their stores. This is not the first time I've run into this kind of situation there. For example, Home Depot sells DeWalt impact drivers but don't carring the impact ready T-25 bit and about 90% of their screws take this size. I did find the bit at lowes but a lot of time Lowes has the same issues with other items. Their buyers have no clue. Not saying this is the case everywhere but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.
  17. I remember reading that DeWalt was going to continue supporting 18V owners even after the 20V max came out. That may be the case but every local DeWalt dealer around here doesn't stock the 18V Lion batteries. You can always find tons of 18V NiCad but no Lion. All they carry in the stores are 12 & 20V max. batteries. I check the racks every time I go into the stores which is quit often and they just don't have them. Seems to me that if these places are going to sell DeWalt tools they should be required by DeWalt to keep these in stock in order to be a DeWalt dealer, otherwise, DeWalt, in a round about way, is not supporting their 18V customers. I've been keeping an eye on DeWalt 18V tools on eBay daily for the last couple years. Untill recently I've noticed a very high volume of used 18V tools being sold on eBay. I wonder if a lot of this has to do with contractors getting feed up not being able to conveniently pick up replacement batteries whenever they walk into a store so their dumping them and moving onto the 20V because thats all they can get theirs hands on now. I know I'm so mad about it I'm considering not buying anymore tools that require 18V batteries and dumping mine now before there totally worthless.
  18. I have a 18V DC9310 charger, the one that does multiple size batteries and I came across one that looks identical as mine but has the numbers DC9180C on it? It says it charges all the same batteries as the DC9310. Any idea what this charger is? One other thing I noticed, a similar style charger but slightly different in appearance with the same number DC9310 on it. How many versions of this charger are there and are they all different.
  19. Thanks for that info, sure makes a lot of sense.
  20. Does anyone know if there are any differences between the motors on these 18V tools? DC823 3/8" impact wrench DC820 1/2" impact wrench DCF826 1/4" impact driver compact DC827 1/4" impact driver XRP I'm curious if they all use the same motor. If I had to guess it would be the DC820 because its a half inch drive and probably requires more considerable more torque but that might be possible to accomplish with the gearing instead of motor size, but that's nothing more than a guess. I think some time back someone said the DC826 and DC827 were the same other than the size batteries they came with.
  21. It's a deal if your looking for Ni-Cad tools. Yah you can use the Li-On batteries in them but it looks weird, to each their own. At least you can get the batteries everywhere and there cheap. I can't even find the Li-On around here there always sold out and there expensive on top of it. Personally I like the Li-On better, they hold the charge longer when not in use, they are a lot lighter and they don't retain a memory like the Ni-Cad so you can top off the charge anytime or as much as you like.
  22. Yup I was right, I did some more searching and found this. http://www.dewalt.com/tools-discontinued/cordless-drills-right-angle-drills-dw960b.aspx
  23. Are you saying the dcn690 nailer and alligator saw are new 18V tools?
  24. I just noticed the DC960 right angle drill is nowhere to be found on the DeWalt site. I even tried doing a search with no results found. I found one site that said this model discontinued. Could this be the beginning of a slow faze out? Maybe this isn't the first 18V tool to have already been discontinued but it's the first one that I'm aware of. Anyone else notice 18V tools starting to disappear. Never thought it was going to start happening this soon, 20V Max has only been out about a year now.
  25. So it's really a tool that was deigned to use the larger batteries. I had no idea there was so much differences between the amp draw requirements for these tools. I've been using the 18v compact drill/driver and impact driver and those compact batteries are just fine. They last a reasonably long enough time and charge in only 30 min. For the amount time I need to use a circular saw for I would probably be better off just grabing the AC powered saw.
