  1. What about Red Woodworking?!

Sort of plays off both the Redwood tree and red wine

Also, "Woodworking" instead of "work shop" is much more specific and professional sounding yet doesn't tie you into one specific type of carpentry which gives you flexibility in the type if work you can do and might invite more people to call you wondering if you will do the type if work they need and you can decide. we all know.. More calls more money!! Haha

  2. . Yo NER!! Other than the norm impact ,drill, circular saw, estwing hammer and milwaukee angle grinder to cut the wonder board I didn't get to pull out the big dws780 cus it was only a couple 2x6's that we inserted under the house for more sturdiness we also had this big tile saw machine bright yellow with no info on it at all lol like a dummy I don't take a pic of it but I'm gonna barrow it again soon so I will for sure take a pic of it then it worked really good for being as old as it is my gramps friend said he's had it for YEARS... It was fun and stressful at the same time cus I was just praying it would all come out good. Thanks NER!!

Well no need to stress anymore! It came out great.. Often we are our own biggest critic and usually for no good reason!!

Tile saws are fun machines. Sounds like you got to use a nice one which probably made the job much easier!

  3. What exactly do you do? Shop built or site built? Cabentry, general carpentry, misc projects? Want kind of feel are you going for? High end, big sounding business, local small business??

Fill in any other helpful info you can think of

I'm not saying I'll be able to come up with the best name for you out of this info but it might also help start others in the right direction..

By wine country do you mean Cali?

  4. Lots of good advice here. I will second on wera, fluke, knipex all being great brands that I use. As another has said, stabila makes great levels

As for a hammer, I'm going to go out on a limb and reccomend stiletto but only if it will be hanging off your belt all day.. If not go with whatever. The stiletto fm10c sells for around 75 or 80 compared to 30-40 for a nice steel hammer but that extra $40 gets you a great hammer that you won't even feel hanging on your belt. It has great balance and feel and is just a joy yo use! Don't be fooled because its a 10oz hammer. I replaced my 20oz estwing smooth face with this hammer and never once regretted it.

  5. If you already have the Makita/Milwaukee. Have you considered just buying a few batteries on eBay? New or used you could probably get 2 batteries for less than the cost of a new radio.. That also give a you the flexibility of buying tools from that manufacturer in the future if you wanted. Older technology Full size 3.0ah or even smaller 1.5ah compacts can be found for pretty cheap and will give plenty of runtime in a radio

  6. I think it does suck, but the Bosch and Metabo also do ;)

The Dewalt and Milwaukee smash the other three in the time-trials.

Hahaha. You must be right because the Makita definetly does suck!! At least mine does.. I have a feeling that mine actually sucks more than most though. There has to be something wrong with mine. its the first old old serial number model so maybe that has something to do with it

  7. Guys that gripe about smoking on the job.But they are the Smartphone zombies most of the time.I smoke and work. But they can not work and operate there phone.

I agree with you on that. My problem with smoking isn't the time it takes, it's that on a residential site, usually a customer occupied home, I don't think non smoking guys on site and especially my customers should have to deal with smelling the smoke or having butts thrown in their yard.. To solve this I just ask that they walk to the street or to the dumpster, if its far enough from the house, to have their smoke and then properly dispose of the butt.

I see it as mostly a respect and courtesy to my customers and also a distinction between my company and all the others.

  8. People that don't clean up after themselves especially when a dumpster is on site.

Smokers that throw their butts on the ground at a customers house.

The cigarette thing is a no no for me on my jobs!! I make any of my sub's go out to the street or to the dumpster (if its far away from the house) to smoke. I don't think my customers should have to be breathing smoke anywhere near their house just because contractors are at their home and personally I don't want to breathe it either.. Definetly no butts thrown on the ground even if its the street!

  9. Coming along nicely! Would you consider boxing in the area above the closet that looks like it is going to end up being a shelf . just frame 2 little walls that connect from the top if the right side of the closet up to the ceiling. Unless you have a use for that space it might make it look neater and it will be one less place for dust to collect!

  10. Went to HD today with my gramps and I snuck away for a bit and saw that they have a lot of the normal every year deals like husky ratchets and hand tool deals flashlights etc but I also saw that they have the new tough box radio already man it was tempting to have it right in front of me :} they also had the husky box for $498 which is a pretty good price IMO I'm really debating on getting this box it's pretty big and would look really nice in my garage with some TIA stickers slapped on that Beatch ;) does any one have this husky box? It's pretty early for them to have these deals out already, I'm hoping we get some nice deals this year guys.

Didn't you get a radio in the utb?!?! Be strong brother. Its just a radio ;)

  11. I should have never opened this post!!! I'm no where near food and haven't eaten lunch yet. I was doing a good job at blocking out the hunger pain but that is no longer possible!! Thanks Chris
