  1. You cheapo..lol What type of Hvac work do you do installs or service tech, I do some installs and service but service is where its at

I'm using map gas. House was built in the 60's not sure what the solder standard was then? I work for a college so it's mainly service. I haven't had a job in the "real world" yet lol so sometimes I feel like I'm missing out.

  2. I'm not as fast as a contractor but I like to do all of my own reno work mainly because I just get a lot of satisfaction from doing it myself.

I do enjoy learning new things and being new in the hvac field any work like this certainly helps me learn. But truthfully I'm just to much of a cheapo to pay someone to do the work for me haha

  3. Nice job with practice you will be a pro. Just a tip you should heat up your fitting a little than use a rag to wipe excess flux off solder than wipe again to smooth out your solder. Did you un sweat the pipe from the tee?

Thanks for the tip I will definitely try that on the next one. I did unswet the pipe on the top of the T but it is the connection at the bottom of the T that is leaking. Any tips for fixing a leaking joint without disassembling it. I get the feeling it's going to be tricky to get an old solder joint to accept more solder

  4. Hey guys, figured I would post some pics of the plumbing I did for my bathroom reno. I did learn soldering in school but this is my first real world work. Twelve fittings, the only leak I had was on an existing T which for whatever reason heating it to make a connection at the top caused the bottom connection to leak. There are several boogers due to the tight space I was working in but I am happy for my first time.

  5. I will admit I can be "That guy" if someone is going below the speed limit I will definitely tailgate, Not to the point where it is unsafe but yeah the slower they are going the closer I get. Typically I back off after a bit though, I only stay there long enough to make my point lol.

The thing that annoys me the most if we are talking about highway driving is how people do not move out of the passing lane. I'm not sure if it is the same throughout the country but here in mass almost no one understands that the left lane is for passing and they should move over if someone is behind them

  6. Some may say going to HD multiple times a week isn't worth the deal. . But let's be honest, who here doesn't enjoy wandering around Home depot aimlessly? With or without finding good deals. I haven't seen any of these penny deals, I would be really interested in learning how to find them using hd computers. I am looking forward to that writeup.

  7. I can't say i like the homeowners choice to have a path of hardwood but I have to say you did an awesome job that floor looks amazing! My vote is always hardwood throughout. Carpet is dirty, I don't like carpet lol.

  8. I engrave my tools at work with a pneumatic etcher, which works out pretty good. After I etch them I usually take a paint marker and write the same information in larger letters, which is easier to see.

A pneumatic etcher? Like a sand blaster? Do you have any pics of the etcher and the result of what it does? It sounds interesting, I am tempted to get one lol.

  9. Seems like an old man yelling at clouds. Interesting stuff but you have to realize that everything is made to a price point regardless of what it is, and corners will almost always be cut somewhere. I won't get the utility I need out of a $1000 perfect drill to justify the price tag, just like my Silverado checks the boxes I need better than a Lambo does (one box is keeping a roof over my head). Milwaukee does like to put a spin on everything they sell but it's not really different than a turbo turning a Ford engine into "EcoBoost". Marketing generates revenue which generates more R&D for more cool stuff.

That said, I found the Multitool video fairly humorous. Certainly the opposite opinion of what most guys say about multitools usefulness.

I personally enjoy the way he bashes the companies, I look at it more from a entertainment point than a review. I don't take his opinions to seriously because there isn't really any tool up to his standards lol

  10. I haven't ever had a ryobi tool, but I have to say one thing that constantly impresses me is the fact that to this day their batteries are backwards compatible with all their old tools. Any company that doesn't make you throw away your old tools to upgrade to newer batteries or additional tools is a pretty good company in my opinion

  11. I have a ps3 but mainly play PC. Games I mostly play survival free roam games and fps. I play gta on the ps3 once in a while. .. I don't consider gaming to be a hobby. .. it is a vice really, an unhealthy addiction. I accept that though, I don't drink or smoke so yeah that's my vice lol

  12. That is one sub that would be ban from my site. That's awful!!!

The sad thing is they won't even mention anything about it. If it is the flooring company I think it is, they do all of our work here and probably subbed this job out or maybe just put temp workers on it. Regardless if it were me I would have the owner here rubbing his face in that shit work explaining to him how much of job I will not be paying for. But hey, that's just me

  13. I'm no engineer by any means, full disclosure, I am right out of college and had a few electrical classes based on hvac electrical components ie motors, transformers, rectifiers. If someone here has more experience with this stuff I am always willing to admit when I'm wrong lol.

I'm just curious, I'm not looking to start a fight here, this is just me trying to figure out if something will work.

Where did this 800w figure come from? 18v ÷ 800w is 44 amps.... out of a 4ah battery?

  14. You need a transformer and a bridge rectifier. There could be many reasons they don't do it, depending on the voltage and size, transformers can get quite expensive. They can also get pretty heavy and bulky. So it could be price, weight, size restrictions, or they may simply want you to buy more batteries.

  15. Wow that's impressive. Looks like some of the bucking may be related to the way you have to stand on it. It appears to be bouncing him between the handle bars and the backrest. Perhaps if he had a bit more room he could sort of "ride?" it. Not bashing it or anything just a thought for v2 lol
