  1. I've never heard of the 21 Taylor, but I have an 18gauge Brad and a 16gauge finish along with the 23gauge pinner. I really like the pinner because there is NO sign of the nail head. The Brad nailer is great for slightly heavier work. The 16ga finish I have is great for larger objects but useless for finish work. In your case dude, whereas you have the 18gauge Brad I'd go with the 23 gauge pinner if you want to do finish work.

The 21 guage I am refering to is the Senco 21LXP. Check it out. They head size is slightly bigger than the 23ga, but has the same holding power as an 18ga

  2. I've got the low angle Lie Neilsen and it is a beautiful, well made tool. I also have a Veritas  Bullnose shoulder plane which is great for mortises but also getting into corners.  Sorry I did not realize you had those other guys so it sounds like your all set dude. I would recommend a 23ga pinner too, great for hidden fasteners in end pieces while the glue dries.

Should I get a 21 or 23 Guage Nail Gun. I currently only have an 18ga

  3. I been wanting to get a HVLP for the workshop.Painting and finishing is my least favorite task, however, I do love to sand though.  Good Luck getting it working.

I hear ya. Sanding sometimes can suck too. I would suggest investing in HVLP if you can. It changes everything.

  4. What are ya trying to shoot? what type of paint? did you thin it out?  Sounds like you dont use this much so dont think id spring for an airless. We used airless quite a bit in military painting planes. We used alot of Graco and Devilbiss.

  5. My experience with cup guns not drawing material properly has almost always been a restricted vent or the fluid tip not being correctly seated. Once in a blue moon the gasket around the plunge shaft not being compressed properly could cause an issue also.

    This is my cup gun:

(I have Klean Strip Mineral spirits in it right now)

Taylor, looks awesome dude. If I could recommend a couple of tools for you, and it looks like you're already really well equipped, a router (2-1/4 or greater) and a table. Also a low angle block plane and laminate trimmer (not a power one, just a regular hand trimmer unless you want to go that route. You could also look into a biscuit cutter if you wanted to go that route or a Kreg jig. But....id go with the router, table and block plane first. Awesome stuff you have there already dude and an hvlp? Awesome!

  7. I wanted to share my small garage shop. I am 18 years old. I am interested in building furniture, and starting to get into cabinets. Are there any tools I should get next to be able to do more in cabinet making, and furniture work?

(I am possibly looking into adding a few new tools, here is what I had in mind: Senco 21LXP Nail Gun, Bosch MRC23EVSK, and possibly 3x24" Porter Cable Belt Sander.)

    My tools currently :

Dewalt Orbital Sander      Porter Cable 1.75 Fixed Base Router        Ridgid Shop Vac

    Dremel Trio                       Drill Press                                                   HVLP

Jig Saw                            3 gallon Compressor                                  Hand Tools

Senco 18g Nail Gun      3x18 Craftsman Belt Sander                     4x8'  Work Table

Rigid Combo Drill Set     Ridgid Table Saw

Skil Circular Saw            Bosch 12" Glide Miter Saw

  8. aah, yeah for stains and such a cupgun would be the most logical choice. I see you're in NorCal,whereabouts?  I'm in sacramento vicinity.   Before buying anything id go thru and soak that badboy in some M.E.K. or something like that for a bit and see if you cant get it going.  Titan guns are nice, not really cheap either.

Im up in Windsor. Just above Santa Rosa. I'll try cleaning it again.

  9. I was given a used HVLP system about a year ago. It is a Graco GTS 2500. I only used it twice. The cup gun isnt spraying. Air is going through it, but the product isn't coming out. I cleaned it out completely too. Anyway, I am looking into possibly buying a new HVLP system. I am wondering, should I just get a new cup gun, a whole new system, or like a Graco airless sprayer. Thoughts?

  10. Hi,

A customer has asked me to make a 6' long shelf above her fire place made out of extra bamboo flooring she has. The Bamboo Flooring is 3 1/2" wide w/o tongue and groove. It is only 1/2" thick She is precise on what she wants, but I don't know what the best way to attach the shelf to the wall is. It will be going above her fire place. She doesn't want z brackets, because it would leave a slight gap. She doesn't seem to want any nail or screw holes on the actual face of the shelf. She was asking me about adhesive, to adhere it to the wall, than nail nails at an angle from the top of the shelf through the thickness. Is that a good way? Please help.

  11. Hi Everyone, a customer has asked me to put a shelf made from some excess bamboo flooring she has above her fire place. I was wondering how I should attach it to the wall? Finish Nails? Nail Gun and Glue? Some other type of adhesive? Any suggestion?

The bamboo is only 4" wide with tongue/groove. I will be cutting it down to 3 1/2" wide. It is a 1/2" thick. It would go above her tile which is wrapped around on the wall of her fire place. She has no mantle.
