  1. Ridgid has a new fan coming out with their gen5x lineup.  runs battery or extension cord (no converter needed) and evidently they are available in some regions and not others at this time.

I checked zip codes for central Texas (one of the hotter states) and it isn't available, but checked new jersey and washington state and sure enough they are on the shelves.   C'mon Ridgid, I need a fan in my garage like yesterday.

Got my fan a couple days ago.  Its really quiet, but it doesn't blow me away.  I like the mounting options.  I like the dial.  I really like the dual power option.

It feels like a quality product and does really good when I'm not moving around.  I used it when I was working in a bathroom and it circulated air and kept me cool.  I used it when I was working in my garage and was great when I was standing still, but it doesn't replace a larger shop/box fan with the Texas summer heat warming up the space.

  2. I have the ridgid on order. I almost picked up the Ryobi Fan, Radio, Light combo until I read the review. The set includes a fan that does not allow to be plugged in and the radio isn't Bluetooth so I passed on the set. And since I don't already own any batteries I spent more money on the ridgid. If I ever cross the Ryobi line, and I might for the inflator and some tools that don't show up on the Milwaukee or ridgid line up, the fan will probably happen too.

  3. Along with the propper charging management, keeping the batteries in a cool place and out from the hot will also get you a few extra miles from your batteries....

so keeping my drill/driver and batteries in my truck in the summer in texas is not good for the batteries....argh.  Maybe I'll get them their own ice chest to keep them from getting to 120 degrees.

  4. Ridgid 12-Volt 4.0 Ah Hyper Lithium-Ion Battery (2-Pack) Was   $69.00 $34.50 /each

These have been dropping for a while, but if you have any Ridgid 12v tools, this is a steal.  If you don't have ridgid 12v tools, their impact driver is great.  When they were still in store, they got to like $17 before they disappeared, but I doubt they will go that low online.

I'd buy another set, but I bought them when they were $43 and already have 4 of the 2 Ah batteries that came with the drill and driver.

  5. Ok guys I have been thinking about getting a smaller impact I have a m18 impact but would like somthing a little smaller to carry all day my buddy got the porter cable 8 volt impact but I was thinking about getting the m12 any suggestions on a Small impact

Milwaukee Bosch and Ridgid are all good to go. I haven't gone to use any of those three and found them to be lacking in any way. Bosch is the most compact and has the three lights around the front if that matters. The Milwaukee has a great impact and the advantage is that if you have the m18 you can use one charger for both batteries if you have the multi charger.

  6. All the Red will be dropping as Milwaukee brings out there new line so keep your eyes pealed.

I heard from a source HD will be going more Yellow come next summer[emoji1]

That seems hard to believe.  But anything is possible...

  7. The holy-cow deals are hard to find for casual shoppers.  There are people out there that turn a good profit running down deeply discounted items and selling them online or craigslist.  There have been situations where people have carts full of penny deals which to me suggests there is either a shady customer hiding product in the store until the price drops or a coordinated effort between an employee and the customer.

Either way, it isn't easy.  Good luck.

  8. However, the task also matters. The M18 FUEL has SO MUCH more power than the M12 FUEL, it is advantaged in high-torque tests. In small diameter holes or screws, the smaller drills are advantaged.

I think the comparison being suggested is the m12 fuel vs the m18 (non-Fuel). It has to be pretty close. The downside is the advantage of m12 lineup is the size and the m12 fuel drill with an XC battery isn't much of a weight savings over an m18 non-fuel drill.

  9. Here is what I do:  I get my receipt emailed to me.  I file it in my email folder titled receipts.  It is then searchable.  I have access via my phone so I can give them the receipt number to look up and they can't mark anything out.  If the receipt line is something that doesn't look like something I would use to describe the tool (i.e. M12 Fl Hckzl) I forward the receipt to myself with a note of what the tool is (Milwaukee M12 Fuel Hackzall).  Then file it in my receipts folder.

If the place doesn't email receipts, I snap a photo of the receipt then send it to my email account.

For serial numbers I take a photo of all serial numbers (which usually have the model number nearby) and file it in a folder for serial numbers in my photo album.

  10. I have the multi tool (pretty good) and the ratchet (haven't used seriously yet) and the hammer drill. The fuel hammer drill loses the compactness of the impact driver. It's about the same size as a compact m18 drill. I haven't used the hammer function yet but as a drill it works well. I do like the expanded lineup of Milwaukee as I own a couple other tools (sawzall, screwdriver and rotary tool).

I also have the Bosch 12v impact, drill and screwdriver. The impact is great and the most compact tool I have with great lights.

I like the Bosch as well as I like the m12 line. You wouldn't go wrong with either.

  11. Now is a tough time. The really good time was March to May when all the "special deal" packaged stuff from the holidays started getting cleared out in favor or routinely stocked sets. All the stuff with bigger batteries or extra tools went through a clearance phase and now they are all gone. There will be something similar when new lineups are introduced and just before holiday specials show up again.
