  1. This. Yeah. Was wondering what was goin on with the huge DeWalt header.
  2. Those tape measures are the bee's knees!
  3. Making my weekend run to Teh Depot yesterday and noticed within their wall 'o batteries was a single Milwaukee 18V brick of a NiCad battery. Just the one. Amongst all the Li-ions. So, I'm a n00b. I'm a curious n00b. Please satiate my curiosity. When did NiCads come into existance? When did Li-ions show-up on the scene? Was their a huge BluRay vs HD-DVD, Coke vs Pepsi battle that ensued? Were NiCads expected to be phased out completely? All I know of are Li-ion batteries, I want the "back in my day AND when I was your age!!1!" stories. The investment in a product/platform becomes a sketchy proposition with the possibility of it becoming obsolete within a short period of time...after a long period I get, advancements in technology and what not. Just that. Thanks.
  4. True. Ford/Lincoln/Mercury...Toyota/Lexus...Honda/Acura. With cars, doubling the price for leather and a nav system kinda-sorta makes sense, but a $30 crap tool that you're gonna have to replace eventually vs a $100 that might live forever? I don't get it.
  5. Whoa. Wow. That's awesome. Actual, for really-real customer service! It's probably just a sign of the endtimes
  6. Went down the Wiki rabbit hole the other night... Found this interesting/weird: Stanley Black & Decker is the parent company of... DeWalt Porter-Cable Black & Decker (duh) Stanley Handtools (double-duh) Bostitch Mac Tools https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Black_%26_Decker#Business_segments_and_brands I was trying to naildown why exactly their's so much hate towards DeWalt...I'm still trying to figure that one out. Just find it odd that a trusted brand (DeWalt) is tied to a "lesser" brand (Black & Decker).
  7. Milwaukee 12V corded. Demo'ed my kitchen with ease...now doing yard work and taking down trees and such. Next up: removing nasty carpet glue from the basement's cement floor. Picked up a Spyder scraper blade. We'll see what happens
  8. More Milwaukee love... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NRxFn96XjOI
  9. This guy's the Red Green of electrical engineering...
  10. Tagged for later purchase. Thanks.
  11. OMG. The righthand side. The red and blue pegboard cup-holder-thingies...are those holding batteries?! BRILLIANT!!1!
  12. The wife's planning on a backspash in our new kitchen. She'll be needing a tile saw. She'll be working, I'm assuming, with subway tiles. I'm really not a fan of renting, but I don't really know. I've seen on Teh Depot and Lowe's sites tabletops for about $100, which is the cost of renting for a day. Suggestions? Thanks.
  13. Thanks for the response. I'm just a DIY-guy who eventually wants to learn how to build stuff...gotta jump on the hipster-craftsman bandwagon before all the PBR's gone! Seriously though, I don't really know what I need until I need it, like I said, this ain't a payin' gig, I'm just toolin' around in my garage, but yeah, it's all new territory for me, and when I go, I go whole-hog... I've already pulled the trigger on the Milwaukee M18 line, plus have the 20V DeWalt trimmer...so I've already got two different chargers sitting on the workbench...
  14. Picked up the trimmer last weekend. Does its job. I've an acre of land to deal with, so I have to pick-up a couple extra 3AH batteries. After years and years and years and years of rockin' corded trimmers, I've finally seen the light. NOW, I'm trying to stop myself from dropping ANOTHER $200 on the blower....and my willpower is severely lacking...
  15. I wonder what sort of runtime he'd get if he were rocking cordless...
  16. I'm a gun guy. I'm a Glock guy. I'm a streamlined Glock-guy. Everything is the same caliber, everything is interchangable, magazines and such. Using that same reasoning, to me, cordless power tools are kinda-sorta the same thing. One brand, streamlined. One brand, many batteries to fuel said brand. Streamlined. Are you guys of the opinion of one brand to rule them all OR just the best overall manufacturer of said tool OR the best deal at the time of purchase? It's taken quite a while for me to pull the cordless-trigger...because I over-analyze the ZOMG DO I WANT 12V OR 18V AND DO I WANT TO TRY AND STICK TO THE SAME BRAND OR DOES ANY OF THIS MATTER??!?!!1! Up until this point, I've rocked very limited amount of corded tools, because, ya know, 200ft of extension cord is super convenient to weild. But all I know now, it that I'm ready to pull the cordless-trigger, SO I'm picking everyone's brains for opinions and the such. Thanks.
  17. Discovered the youtube page a few months ago in searching out sawzall reviews...thought about joining the forum...but I'm a n00b and will have near zero to contribute...then I saw the box 'oh power-plastic give-away, so I figured, what the heck. So, anywho...Hi. I'm n00b. I am a n00b. Bought a Milwaukee sawzall to demo my kitchen, now I use it to chop down trees and prune bushes cuz it's awesome. Was awarded a Milwaukee drill/drive, impact drill set because of father's day, so that was rad. [/ramblings]
