  1. My actual drill press is a 1948 craftsman 100 that I restored. I used a milescraft accudrill mate to finish off the holes the drill press couldn't reach. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  2. Very happy with the last days progress! First I got all of the handles finished and installed. I put finish on the stop block system as well. All I need to do is put the tape on. I'm slacking on that because I want to do it right even though I have a way to adjust the stop block. Tonight I made the router accessories sliding door insert. I think I have room to grow [emoji23]. The extra holes allows me to get more bits but also space them out to make it easier to pull the bits out. They are snig in there. I might round over the holes. Then I will sand and apply poly. I'll glue in the dowels for the collets after it's finished. *Note to self....move up drill press table in the list of shop projects to be built.* The drill press couldn't reach all of the holes so I used my milescraft drill press to finish the job. Worked great. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  3. Handles are on. They still need to be sanded and poly out on. I ended up not putting the last coat of poly on the drawers. I'll do it when I do the handles. I ended up going through the front of the handles. The pull out work surface was right on the line from the back side. This way they all match and match the sliding doors. I need to start thinking of my storage. I still have the inside of the door completely empty. Not sure if I am going to do shelves or more drawers. I haven't used my hvlp yet and might see if it will fit in there. With the door it should help to keep from it getting dirty. I need drill bit storage help. Right now they are just thrown in there and that just isn't going to g to cut it. Half of my forstner bits don't have a case and none of my Brad point bits do either. My countersink bits package is irritating so that also needs to go. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  4. Pretty good progress again yesterday. I got all of the drawer fronts attached and about to put the third coat of poly on. I then made the rough stock for the handles for the drawers. I jointed, planed, and then glued up some maple for the handles like I did the sliding doors. I had to wait until for the glue to set so I could cut them out and round over the edges. Before bed I made a holder for my shop vac hose. This is a long time coming and already loving it. Keeping it off the ground is going to be so nice. I also tried to clean up stuff on the floor like boxes and scrap wood. Today I got the handles cut out and rounded over. I'm trying to decide how I want to attach them. Should I make them like the sliding doors with the screws visible from the front or should I attach them through the back? Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks Amazon prime day. Bosch flexi click for $120! Also a heavy duty surge protector for the miter station and white charcoal pencils. These should make it easier to see on the upcoming furniture builds made from cherry and walnut. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  6. I ended up making the pull out tray. Took me about 30 minutes or so. Pretty simple. A piece of plywood with two pieces pocket holed to the base. I over cut the top drawer front and after saw kerf and veneer it should end up perfect height wise. Continuous grain pattern for the win. I still need to attach the front of the pull out tray. Up next will be to make the rest of the drawer/door pulls. Then sand and finish! Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  7. Updated pic. The dust shroud is on. I cut it short so I had to make some spacer blocks. I attached it with magnets to nuts screwed into the miter station. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  8. So I raised the drawers up and I'm glad i did. It was easy to do as well. I got the two lower drawer fronts on and am at a conundrum. With the space under the drill press I could potentially put a pull out flat surface to place plans or other items. If I did this I would need to make the top shelf not go up as high. What says you? Good idea or not worth it? I attached a pic with a drawer slide in there for reference. I also go the dust shroud for the miter saw made. All that is left to do is sand the edges and attach it. I would like for it to be removable to use the miter function on the saw. I have to work in a few hours (picked up a shift on my day off) so I'm calling it quits for the night. 9. Drawers are in. I'm not super excited about the spacing. I might raise the top two drawers to twice what they are now. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  10. I got the upper right shelf unit made and in. Not sure if it will stay like this but it is something for now. I also got the drawers for the lower left cabinet cut to height. I cut the long sides to length already but still have. The fronts and backs to do. Holy crap I love having a stop block. I still don't have the tape on yet so I mark my line, place it at the blade, and slide the stop over so it touches the wood. So so so nice doing repeat cuts I'll cut the fronts and backs today as well as make the dados. I started to put a drawer slide in but decided to call it quits for the night. Also pic of the two shelves I put in before for wood storage. Still need to do a lower shelf. I'll use that for taller/square pieces. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks! There are more projects in the pipeline. Finishing my miter station now and come August I believe I will be starting a chest of drawers and night stand made from cherry and walnut. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  12. I got the drawer fronts made and installed on the drawers. Still need to make the handles. I think they will be smaller than the verticle sliding doors. I also am trying to figure out the upper hardware storage. This is a mock-up. There would be another shelf on the bottom where the rabbet is. The 1/2" ply sags a little more than I am happy with so I'm trying to figure out the best way to support it and able to install it at the same time. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  13. I started work on the stop block but haven't finished it yet. I also screwed down the saw but need to raise the right side ever so slightly. I finished the hand tool cabinet so now I can focus on finishing this up so I can start my son's bedroom set. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  14. I'm calling the hand tool cabinet done. I finished the drawers today and am very pleased with how they turned out. The figure on the fronts from the right direction is awesome. I've got a few of them already dedicated to certain tasks. One had my sharpening jigs and another has my dovetail items. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  15. Three of the four drawers are planed and fit in. Sanding will finesse them in. The fourth is out of glue up but I am too tired to do it tonight. Hopefully tomorrow I can get them sanded and shellaced. I have some metric drill bits coming tomorrow (today) that will fit the magnets better than the imperial bits that I have now. The magnets will hopefully solve my door "issue" of ever so slightly hanging open. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  16. The upper drawers are done except for the fronts. I have one piece of plywood left and it's big enough for those pieces. Will need another sheet of 3/4" to finish everything the drawers are very tight fitting in that spot but I am able to get them out. Above the drawers will be shelves for my metal Durham hardware boxes. They will be 2 per shelf and am trying to figure out of I can get a third shelf in or not. We shall see. 17. Time has been spent between this and the hand tool cabinet so its a little slower going. I did manage to get the sanding pad storage completed. Pretty happy with how they turned out. I even have enough space to place another sander on top of the storage giving me 4 placed to put Sanders. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  18. Solid progress the past 24hrs. I got all of the drawers dovetailed and dry fit. I then drilled the holes for the finger pulls. I sanded the inside of the first drawer put on sanding sealer, and got it glued up. Apparently I need more 12" clamps. The grain on these drawer fronts are killer and they don't even have any finish on them yet! Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  19. Small break from the miter station today. There are two things keeping from this cabinet being completely finished. 1. The drawers need to be made and 2. Magnets in the doors and carcass to keep the doors shut as they slightly hang away from the case. If you recall a few weeks ago I screwed up the first drawer front. Well today I decided to try the second door. I still need to cut my replacement front to length and width. This one turned out much better. Orientation is correct and dovetails didn't turn out too bad. A few over cuts with the saw but it's fine. These drawers are going to look killer with shellac applied! 20. Homemade door pulls are made and installed. Still need to be sanded and clear coated along with the doors. Router tables are a wonderful thing. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  21. I got the last door front put on last night. Today I made holders for my two random orbit Sanders. I also got the handles for the sliding doors in glue it. They will be ripped and rounded over tomorrow. Right now I'm torn on how I want to do the sanding pads. Vertical or horizontal storage. I was thinking I could do flat storage boxes u der each sander since they have a different hole pattern. Or I could do one big verical storage that spans from front to back with labeled dividers. Thoughts? Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  22. @ChrisK I did that for my first hitachi saw on my ryobi miter stand. Simple solution. My stand didnt have wheels so it did make it heavier. Obviously that wont be an issue for you.
  23. Weekend progress. I got the new drawer slides got the last sliding door hung. I cut a piece of plywood for the door for one of the bottom cabinets. The one to the right will be a long wood off cut holder. Just to the left will have the door and be filled with drawers. I'm thinking glue stuff in one drawer and after that will be small trays for some Durham boxes I have coming. Those will hold all my small bolts, washers, nuts, etc. Under the drill press I will have more drawers for stuff like my drill accessories and grinding stuff. Depending how it goes the Durham boxes will go there instead. Last night and today I got 3 of the four vertical door fronts on. I am still deciding on what to use as pulls. I'd like to get the pulls as close to the front of the slides as possible if not over them. If over them I'll make some homemade pulls and glue them on with Brad's. I put the top on the whole cabinet and started to clean up a little bit. So much stuff in my way on the floor and just getting the few things up there has helped a lot already. Up next is finishing the last door front and clear coating all the new additions. At some point I need to get the miter saw actually screwed down. I'll do that after I put clear on the t track piece. 24. I've veneered all of the exposed edges and put water based poly from varathane on it. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  25. Maybe just a little. So irritated with the last door. The first three went extremely smooth. Last one was causing all sorts of issues and not going in and out smoothly. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk Just remember...sorry...a deer ran out in front of me!
