  1. edit: I can bevel but I can't do a 45 bevel while doing a 45 miter cut. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  2. Today I got 3 of the 4 vertical doors in. The last door was giving me problems and let's just say the slides are not useable anymore. I also got the top made and put on. I'm holding off making the cubby holes as I need another piece of plywood. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  3. Little bit of work done today/tonight. I got the miter saw surround taken apart, 2 coats of poly put on, and put back together. Before attaching it to the rest of the cabinet, I cut a hole in the back for the only outlet on my wall. Fearing all the dust might cause an issue for it I bought an exterior weatherproof outlet cover. I place a little bit of fo inside of the cord inlet to help keep the dust down. I also cut the vertical door pieces. The shorter slides will be here later today. Tonight I should be able to get them on and at least working. They are in front of the miter saw on the floor. 4. Good news and bad news. Good news: I got the miter saw dust shroud basically finished. I need to take it apart, sand it, and put finish on it before I install it. I think I am going to make a remove able cover like Bob from I like to make stuff did with his. He used a white board type material as well so he could write on it if he wanted. Bad news: I need to redo the fence with the t track. I put the t track too close to the tape measure. It needs to come down further. Otherwise I have no room to put the market and the lower portion would cover part of the tape. Ugh. I had that dad perfect for the tape too. Oh well. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  5. Got some work done again tonight. I started on the upper vertical doors by getting the spacing I wanted and I put the lower glides in. Then I realized an error/oversight on my part. When I put the casework upper support in, that took 3/4" of spacing on the back side of the support. I went to out the upper glide in and it was too long. So I was on anle to do the lowers tonight. I will order some 20" door slides and use 20" on top and 22" on bottom. As long as the spacing is correct front to back there shouldn't be any issues....I think. It is late and I'm probably wrong. Next I worked on the fence system. I got the piece cut out and put 2 dados in. 1 for the t track and 1 for the fastcap stick on tape measure. This keeps the tape measure from protruding out and being worn down. I put the t track in but I am a few screws short so I'll need to get some more tomorrow. Tomorrow I would like to start on the saw dust shroud that will enclose the saw on the sides and top. After that probably some doors for the lower cabinets. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  6. I got the last coat of poly on and got the upper cabinet into place. I then layed out the vertical slide out doors. I changed the layout a little bit and am now able to get 4 doors instead of 3. This will give me a door soley for router bits. The drawer slides did t come with any hardware so that's it for the night. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  7. @chrisk awesome! Can't wait to see the shop and bench come together. I've really like my flip top cart for my planer. If we ever move to a different house (few years down the road) I'll probably make a roubo with a wagon vise. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  8. I saw you take the wall and move it. What are your plans? Going to get to the workbench too? Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  9. This will get better...this will get better...this will get better. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

  11. State of the miter station today. Last night and today I cut out the upper cabinet section and put it together. The left side will house vertical doors that will pull out (Jon heisz and jakman works on YouTube style), and the right side will be drawers or a charging station. Once I make the enclosure for the miter saw itself, I will make cubbies that span the length from the wall to the drill press. Today I also sanded and put water based polyurethane on the fronts and tops of the base and front of the upper cabinet. When I get home tonight I'll sand it lightly and put another coat on. I have training tomorrow so the third coat will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon. Should have the upper cabinet installed tomorrow evening. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  12. Wife went to bed early so I got some more shop time. I managed to clean up a bit and moved the old benches to the front of the garage. They will get picked up tomorrow by my friend. Next I ran the dust collection hose for the miter saw. I brought it over to the right side and have it extending out a little bit. Since my dust collector is mobile, I just attach the hose with a spring clamp and I'm ready to cut. Keeping it to the right and not under the saw keeps it out of my way while cutting. 13. Drill press is in position.swcured it to the shelf and made the top. I also made the rest of the rear supports and put them in. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  14. I quickly made the shelf for the drill press and moved it in to see what it's like. I'll make the top piece tomorrow morning. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

    Time Off?

Hang out with the kids and wife, do things around the house, yard work, and attempt to build things out of wood and hope they dont fall apart. I also play pool and have been binge watching one piece of crunchy roll. i managed to watch the entire series all 840 episodes. lol
  16. Hey, sorry for not getting back to you guys. My father in law made it on a lathe and router. He took a maple blank i bought and he made the screw and nut for me. I have a bench build thread in the woodworking section if you want more info.
  17. I recently bought the rockler route bit storage inserts. i plan to make a door like Jon Heisz (wrong spelling im sure) on youtube) did in his miter saw station. the rocker inserts allow for either 1/4 or 1/2" bits to fit in them. at the moment all my whiteside bits are in their original package and in my router bag.
  18. Why the %$^@ would any one want to build out of this stuff? Because it looks neat! Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  19. Progress! Got a lot of work done today but no gym time. Ugh. First I jointed and ripped a 2x4 for the back supports for the plywood top. I attached the back support for the right cabinet and cut the top. I overhung the front for door fronts to be pretty flush. I still need to attach the right side support, miter table support, and left cabinet support. I then measured for the height of the miter saw table. I then used some scrap pieces of plywood and made the side supports. I cut the top to fit and veneered the front. The other day I bought a dust collection port and at the time it seemed huge. Now that it is in I wish I would have bought two. Now that I think about it I never even measured left to right to even remotely center it. Now my OCD is going to kick in. I bought some mesh from ACE yesterday and glued it in between the dust port and plywood. I then attached a flexible dust hose that I bought for it to wrap around. Since I don't have a stationary dust collection I think I have a clever idea to attach it. More on that later. I then attached a front support for the miter table section. Up next is to make a shelf for the drill press to sit on. Then I can make a top and finsih all the rear supports. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

  21. No I don't have any plans for that. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  22. Sorry, not sure what you mean. If youre asking of I'm going to install cabinets on top then yes I am. I will take down the peg board when I get there. Got all the bolts that I needed to switch the leveling system around. I had to get some longer bolts and cut them down with an angle grinder. Instead of trying to fight leveling the back support for the plywood top on the wall I think I am going to cut and attach the plywood to the cabinets, put it into place and them move the support into place and drill it in. Bad idea? Also I am going to cut the section out for the miter saw and get it attached to the cabinets. This will get my final length perfectly in place and with the levelers available from the top I can adjust them perfectly once I final position. Btw...I'm about to have an aneurysm with my garage the way that it is right now. 🤪 Some pics of the old vs new leveling bolts. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  23. Out with the old and starting in with the new. I still need to take out the right side of the old bench. That will allow me to put a back strip along the back wall to attach the plywood to. I'm thinking of setting the front of the cabinets 32" from the rear wall. that should give me plenty of room for the saw and dust collection. The top cabinets will probably end up being 20 or 22" deep. Giving me plenty room for a shelf for the wood to sit on for cuts. The right cabinet needs to go over about another inch or so to get it where I want it. I'm not feeling the leveling system. I think I might get longer bolts and thread them in from the top. This will allow me adjustment from the inside and not the bottom. At the moment I plan to put drawers in them so it shouldn't be an issue accessing them later if needed. Thoughts? 24. Not much done today before work. I ripped some 2x4s to amke the mounts for the leg levelers. T nuts with carriage bolts. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
