My 380B didn't have the light; I bought it as the bare tool.
The DCS387B I upgraded to this past year does have the light.
ok thanks for the replies.yeah I heard that the compact model has an LED. It's not really that big of an issue unlike on drills and drivers.

You got a good head on your shoulders
HAHA, I do love my 995 as well but I hear that the hammer function punishes the user more than other brands.

Had time to test out the saw yesterday afternoon. I approve, easy to handle, cut even PT without much effort with the stock blade (40T ATB). That thing will be in the trash shortly for a Diablo.
Not crazy about not having a switch for the light. The button is too difficult to push to really be useable. Not my favorite, and LED doesn't consume enough energy to not have a normal switch. Would have made more sense to have a sensor on the arm hinge so you could activate the light by pulling down on the handle without running the blade. Just don't get the design choice there.
Overall this will be great with small quick cuts or with framing, slices through 2x4 way faster than my Dewalt 20v cordless hand saw.
How do you like your Dewalt circular saw? I was wondering if now is the right time to pull the trigger or wait for a possible brushless model. Though I have heard that Dewalt isn't all that interested in making BL saws . Not sure if that's true or not , I mean I can't imagine the downside to making one of the most power hungry tools BL.

yeah well I just got the dewalt DCD995 but am definitely intrigued by the upcoming Milwaukee hammer drill

haha no but I do realize that they make great tools and the extra price is warranted. I would have no problems owning and using red, green, blue, yellow, orange, etc etc. whatever gets the job done.

. Dude you have really picked up some nice tools there and ur off to a great start! What to buy next is a hard one to answer man there's so many tools to buy out there :} but if ur wondering on which blower to buy 20v or 40v? I haven't tried the 40v blower but I do have the 20v and it's awesome plus the price for the 5.0 battery, charger and blower for $199 is hard to beat it does a really great job IMO. Run time is awesome for being a blower!
thanks for the tip. I wish I bought a 40V 'when they had a free 40v 4.0ah battery with it but for the price the 20v is hard to beat. especially with that 5.0 battery that I would love to have .

. Lol nice!!! William make sure u post some pics in the show off your dewalt thread bro we all love to look at new tools
Will do! BTW i'm not only new here but I am new to cordless tools! I'm just starting to get into tools and woodworking so I'm taking it all in and may be overdoing it with the new toys lol. Oh and I just got the DCK296M2 kit and love it! Now what to get next, maybe the blower? Not sure if I should get the 40 or 20V though.

I guess you are blessed with that in US. Here in Finland the price difference is larger than that.
Hmmm, the post I made regarding that don't really make sense then since the majority at this forum is from the states. Apologies about that then if I may have seemed like a fool
no need to apologize, you are right in that most companies do charge a major premium and I was mainly talking about the drills .For example the DCD995B is $149 and the DCD985B is $139 . I won't name and names but one company that does charge a larger premium has a red shell.

. Looks like a good one William the only thing I can see is that if u want a laser or led attachment ur gonna wanna go with the 715 type 2 cus the newer type 3 doesn't. Good luck on ur purchase and remember to show off some pics when u buy it.
ok thanks, I will buy one soon, but I just bought the dewalt vac, recip saw, and the multi tool so I think its going to be the next sell lol.

I know that you guys are talking about the 20V miter saw, but I was wondering if anyone here has the 715? Lowes has it for $199 and I was thinking of picking one up.I'll only be using it around the house such as building a deck and work bench for example.

I think it's important for a tool manufacturer to keep their existing models for sale when upgrading to new brushless models since brushless models tend to be much more pricey. Everyone don't care for the top notch, most powerful, longest runtime that money can buy but care more for reliability for a older more experienced tool and perhaps more "bang for the buck" since lower price tag than the newer brushless model that come out.
Even thou many like to see the new models come without brushes these days
Just my toughts on the matter.
while some charge a premium for their BL models , but Dewalt only charges about $10 more making it an easier decision. Though Justin has a great point about reliability and longevity.

I just bought the Dewalt DCS380B and it has no integrated LED light. Acme Tools shows that the 380 has a light and I have seen that the 387 has a light. My question is does maybe the type 2 or 3 have a light and I got the older model meaning no light? Does anyone else here who has the 380 have a light on their Dewalt 380? It's not a real big deal but I hate buying a new tool and getting a lesser tool than whats available. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

I don't know much about how patents work but do you have to get the patent in every country or does one patent protect you from all over the world?
nah the patent is only good for the US, so Bosch can still sell it everywhere else.

haha seeing this now as a new poster I was thrown off and was about to google it when I saw the april fools day comment. dang, got my hopes up lol!

First off this is going to be for automotive work day in and out.
Currently I have a Hitachi 18v drill setup (1.5 ah) battery) I have had for over 8 years. the batteries are starting to get tired and the drill setting will not stay locked on. got it at lowes for like $130. worth every penny.
I would like to get a drill and impact driver kit. more tools later down the road. ( 3/8 and 1/2 impacts)
I think I have settled on getting the Milwaukee line over the dewalt or makita.
So I have read that the way to go is the Fuel line-up. but Milwaukee does not make a kit with a non-hammer drill. ( no reason for hammer drill and adds weight and cost)
How necc is it to go brushless now. current set up is brushed and it lasts over a week with everyday use.
Been thinking of getting the brushed compact kit that runs $199 (2691-22) 1.5 ah battery
But just watched a review of the brushless fuel impact driver and all i can is freakin WOW. driving that 5 in lag was awesome. now i want that. plus the 3 speeds would be very useful to me.
I do have a 20% off coupon I can use at a local store to get it ( up to $50 off)
Ugh Choices to be made.
Just a brushless (non-fuel)drill kit is $200 and a bare fuel impact driver is $129
Price is an object too.
Miwaukee is bringing out their full size drill and hammer drill in 2 weeks so you might want to hold off to either buy the new one or possibly for the old model to get discounted. I'm thinking the Fuel Hammerdrill will be $350 or so just for the hammerdrill kit but the old model might get knocked down a bit.

Seems like he curses just to sound amusing but he comes off hmm a bit strong
-
what does he expect for $100 drill? Besides he comes off as a fool.

With all of the people looking for a brushless circ saw and recip saw you would think that would be on top of Dewalts to do list!

Is the comparison online or was it just live?I'm interested in a teardown comparison. Anyways while I went BL I mostly went for longer battery life and not longevity. With my usage level I can't imagine wearing out the brushes before I get the upgrade itch !
