1. I would get a circular saw specifically for metal. I have a millwakee brand one an it works great.

Few months ago I did several animal shelters an modified some horse stalls. Straight cuts were all metal circular saw. I had a few curved cuts I used my plasma cutter for.

This.

Backwards blade is loud and doesn’t cut as well as a proper metal saw. There are tons of ways to hack something, but in the end, it always better to use the right tool for the job!

2. I have always said Makita must be making some of Hitachi’s tools.
I looked at what Hitachi has out now and there is no way that Makita isn’t making some of it!
Look at the Hitachi stick vac, Fan jackets, impacts, drills, heated jacket and rotary hammer!
They are carbon copies!
Also, they have the same 18v/14.4v versions as Makita.

Not all tools mind you, but a lot.

3. I just happen to have a Samsung 32" TV /Monitor with a white bezel that fits like a glove. Now I can go from live TV or online with a couple clicks of a wireless mouse....

4.
I'd like rectangular open pockets (not as deep as these wedge but same footprint) or flapped pockets. CLC makes some good designs, that's why I keep buying them. Pen pockets need to be on the outside so you can easily grab one while its on your shoulder. That's one reason I've stayed away from square totes and it's been annoying getting used to it, there's no clear inside portion of the bag so I end up grabbing it backwards from how I set it up.

I actually like CLC/Kunys/Dewalt.

My only issue with them was the lack of hard bottoms and the material would wear quickly.

I haven’t looked very hard at them in awhile though.
Also, AWS at Lowe’s, those are some decent, well priced bag too.

5. You could probably take an awl and tighten those pockets. Just fold over about 1/4" on the inside then sew it straight down, on both sides.

I'm all about modding my tool bags but I'm also a rather unconventional user. I just added a nylon strap to my new square tote that splits the big middle compartment, keeping the IR temp gun in place. I also cut out some internal pockets so my DMM and lead accessories slide in and out easily. I ALSO added lighting to the bag, taking to HF lights (seen below) hung off the side by the belt clip and sewn the clip to the bag so they can't fall off.

Slow the hell down!!!

That sounds an awful lot like work!

I actually thought about adding a rivet to the exterior pocket but I don’t know where to get a proper heavy duty fabric type.

6. Just following up my 10” tote review.

I was very disappointed with the 10” overall.

I took a chance and bought the 15” and I am very happy with it. Why couldn’t they design the 10” the same way???

The 15” has nice deep pockets and a great layout. One side is full of very usable pockets and the other side is wide open for power tools or whatever else you need to put in there.

My only complaint is the return of the useless wedge pockets that are designed for things to fall out of. Not even kidding.

The zippered pockets are a little better too, you can actually get stuff in them!

150% better than the 10”, hands down.

Hopefully they relaunch the 10” and fix it, it’s really a perfect size.

7. Mini review time!

Bought this bag today, I am impressed.

It’s a little expensive for a simple tool bag, but I really like the design.

It has 2 big pockets. That’s it.

It has a ton of clip loops and that’s it.

No extras.

It comes with a shoulder strap which even the 10” tote doesn’t come with.

It has two nice top handles and two very nice side handles.

It’s tall and the mouth opens like a bag should, allowing you to see the entire inside!

Short version, buy it!

$69 CAD btw!

8. Pretend I am a 3 year old.

I have the current brushless variable speed and I love it.
I don't understand the hate towards the load sense feature.

Why is a barrel grip so important?
(be kind, i am an electrician, not a carpenter!)

9.
I ended up getting a CLC 8" tote and it has two pockets like that. I've found small things fit in there well. I have a BNC cable in one and an outlet tester in the other...it just has to be short(cannot extend above the pocket more than a 1" at most) and fat to stay in the pocket. I think the Wiha bit holder set would fit in there well or maybe a small tool roll.

Good stuff!

Other then Veto, I haven’t found manufacturers that take the time to think out pocket placement and shape.
Seems like a lazy design. I would prefer the pen/bit pockets over those wedge pockets!

10. HiltiWpg what pickup truck gets 43.5 mpg? That sounds amazing. Thats more than my car gets.

On another note I have heard the new Fords are very inefficient. Supposedly when they are stopped the engine will stop. Then more fuel is used because of more engine restarts.

That was the ranger turbo diesel option.

11. I agree, I also don't find the cutting edge on knipex lineman pliers to last any longer. Quite the opposite in my experience.

Which ones are you talking about?

The red handled Klein are softer and dull quickly when cutting anything harder than copper. The J series (blue handle) are hardened and keep a much better edge but are brittle and are prone to chipping.
The equivalent Knipex are virtually identical.
I prefer the hardened Knipex over my Klein’s for weight and balance, but I keep putting the Klein’s back into my pouch because they are a much better hammer...
The Knipex comfort grips are also slightly better than the J series comfort grip.

12. Thanks for your illuminating review, it is very insightful. Suffice it to say that 10" tote will not be on my shopping list, what were they actually thinking with those shallow pockets, absolutely useless!

I just picked up the 15” tote.
It’s night and day different. Hard to believe it is made by the same company.

The pockets are normal, the handle is normal.
The only real gripe I have is the two exterior wedge pockets are on the 15” as well. Same odd angle that makes it hard to really use them. Stuff just wants to fall out.

13. The little Ford turbo diesels are pretty awesome. I was also hoping they would come to NA with the ranger. I was so worried they were going to screw up the ranger!

I love the eco boost, but there is a place for a diesel.

“The 2.2L TDCi Duratorq generates an impressive 160 PS and 385 Nm of torque. Available in 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions (Selected models only).

Need even more power? Then take the 3.2L TDCi Duratorq diesel option, with 200PS and 470 Nm of torque at your command.

Impressive fuel economy and low emissions are delivered from 43.5 mpg (6.5L/100m) and 171 g/km CO2 emissions (160PS 4x4 with 6-speed manual and 3.15 FDR).”

14. I didn't say it was a copy, it sure as hell looks like Makita made it though!

The strap is a common feature in tools from Japan and that area of the world. This is in no way a copy of Makita.
