  1. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so impressed with some tools before so I thought Id just start a general thread if people want to share their experiences. I’ve been using and hanging 18v tools on my tool belt daily for so long that these little m12’s seem like such a relief and still capable of doing most anything I need! Very lightweight and the impact especially. I put a small impact holster on my tool belt and I can hardly notice them on me.

i asked a question on another thread about what torque setting relates to the #2 torque setting on my m18 fuel drill, so I’ll just answer it here.

the torque setting on the m12 drill is more like 5-6. I’ll use 6 because it has a quicker ramp up speed on the trigger. 1-5 has a real slow ramp up speed( same ramp up for all settings), 6-10? is a little quicker, and so on. I don’t think the e clutch is that accurate. Maybe on the first initial use but if u keep pressing the trigger it’ll keep turning the screw more and more before it clutches out. However If u know this u can use it or avoid it as needed. Twice today I had to catch it because it kept going, I don’t think the clutch activated it just kept going. I also drilled a bunch of holes with a 3/4” ship auger in high speed and it did great. There were 2 instances where it was close to a knot so it was too tough for it. I was more curious just to see if it could do it, not planning on using it for that purpose but I was real impressed and it’s nice to know that this little drill has some guts to it! There are 18v drills that can’t do that. Had too much fun with the drill today I didn’t use my impact really at all which is rare, so maybe I’ll post after more use with that.

ill also add that I was drilling with the 4.0 which is noticeably stronger than the 2.0.  And I wasnt sure about this until I found a video someone posted, but it shows the 6.0 to drill stronger too vs the 4.0.

  2. The tools seperately come with hard cases but if u buy the drill/impact kit there is no hard case available to fit both.

The more I use these the more impressed I am. This little drill can run a 3/4” ship auger in high speed! I know guys who have 18v drills that can’t do that

I get the sense you’re falling for Dewalt’s questionable marketing labeling with the whole “20V/60V Max” thing.

The actual operating voltage of Dewalt’s “60V Max” batteries is 54V. Dewalt’s “20V Max” batteries are 18V nominal voltage exactly the same way all 18V platforms are. They’re claiming 20 volts because that’s the voltage an 18V battery reads when fully charged and NOT doing any work. ALL 18V Lithium batteries will measure 20V when first charged and not doing any work, regardless of who the manufacturer it is. They buy the same Lithium ion cells everyone else buys from Samsung, Sony, etc then wire them in the same 5-cell series to reach the 18V operating voltage.

Applied to Flexvolt, Dewalt’s “60V Max” batteries are really 3x18V=54V. They’re even labeled that way in other countries they’re sold in.

The 3Ah “60V Max” battery has the same power available as Milwaukee’s 9Ah 18V High Demand, and less than 2x5Ah 18V Makita batteries in X2. There’s no way around it.

I’m pretty sure he and everyone else on here knows that already, that’s pretty much common knowledge around here.  You are comparing batteries, framer joe is comparing tools

  4. I use my hammer drill driver to drill in concrete all the time and have no issues with it. It’s fast and convenient. The only time it struggles is in poured foundation walls and old brick, in which case I drill into the mortar instead if possible.

  5. So I got a 2704 hammer drill back from Milwaukee service. They didn’t fix my issue however they did replace the chuck with a new chuck that has no carbide inserts. I’m not sure if this was on purpose due to known chuck issues with them or if they just put the wrong chuck on by accident. I have one more drill coming back from service tomorrow with the same issue so I’ll see what chuck they put on that one.

  6. Played around a little today and found the m18 #2 torque setting is somewhere #8-10 setting on the m12. It was a little inconsistent just driving different sized screws in wood but it’ll get me close enough and I’ll just confirm when I’m working on some metal.  Drilled a 3/4” ship auger thru 2- 2x6’s in low without pause so I was real impressed with the power. The little impact surprised me the most tho, I think it is almost just as strong as my m18 fuel impact! I think that’s going to end up being my favorite tool.

  7. Well Finally found a HD that has the new m12 in stock, contrary to what the internet says, and in the hood of all places. Picked up the combo kit. I’ll take back my ugly comment from earlier, these are good looking tools and I was a bit skeptical at first about the grip but once I held them they actually feel real good in the hand.  These are my first 12 volt tools so ill

post more after I get a chance to play around with them.

Anyone know if the torque settings on the m12 drill translates directly to the same torque settings on the m18 fuel drill?

example: I frequently use the #2 torque setting on my m18 drill, but since the m12 has less power will I have to up the torque setting to say #5 or 6?

  8. Ok no response from rohm.  I decided to do a little looking around and noticed on Jacobs site the chuck used on the 2704 isn’t even listed on there so I assume it’s a milwaukee part only.  Now I’m going to have a little fun and make a wild prediction here:  I heard milwaukee is releasing a new  drill this year, so I predict that this new elusive rohm chuck will be featured on this drill making it a milwaukee exclusive part.  I also predict the browns will win 3 games...

  9. Well i continue to be impressed with their e-service. 5 minute registration online, sent in an impact driver that was very very beat up and no readable serial number for a mode selector issue. They replaced the motor, electronic assembly, and the entire outer case of the tool. Basically replaced everything except the nose cone and it looks brand new. No charge, thanks 👍

  10. I think u have to pay extra to cover tools on a commercial policy but I’m not sure. All this talk about buying new tools and buying a building/shop, why not just pay to have the locks fixed and get an alarm installed? Or put a fence up and get a mean ass dog...
