  1. @CityDecks..2 crews? Nice..all rooftops? We do a lot of decks over " rubber roofs" so they are about 30-40'' up..a few "widow walks" which is on top of the roof...but mostly 2nd floor and first floor..

...I am glad Hilti is working out for you. Only thing I can think of is they make different tools for us NA and where you are.....the DeWalt crew works out of a trailer,as does my Milwaukee crew, but the Makita crew work out of a work van...

  2. @CityDecks...I'm on Cape Cod ,MA...we build huge custom waterfront homes with massive decks...we rip engineered lumber all day....LVL,PSL,LSL,Parralam, PT, IPE....the hardest materials around.

....I'm not knocking you or Hilti, I have friends in unions doing commercial work and love those huge Hilti tools.

....Like I said, we have a Hilti rep ,big truck loaded with all the latest tools. He begs me to keep trying his stuff ,like the blades, new circ blades, sawzall blades etc..( worst blades I've ever used)...we use Diablo tracking point and Diablo demo demon, best damn blades I've ever used.

.....the drivers on the Hilti , powder guns is always breaking...the rep rips lvl stock against me ( like a race)using my  577..not even close....just think the normal Hikti framing tools are not on par with milwaukee or DeWalt... Makita has no balls(power)

  3. Personally hate the Milwaukee tablesaw, we have two and feels like the gears are stripping... plastic.....we have owned DeWalt corded tablesaws for since they came out, beasts....and the cordless since it came out.... only problem was adjusting the spring on the on/off switch...

...gotta clean and oil All tools, guns etc....no problems with our two and the 12ah batteries Rock in them .

.....had an old Bosch corded for 15 yes that was awesome...

  4. I've used all Hilti tools ,we have a rep come by once a week to continue fixing our lasers and sds and powder actuated guns.....he brings new tools ..we test them against DeWalt right there, off the truck ....no thanks... commercial tools yes, residential construction hell no..but glad you like yours...

  5. The Hitachi is a great nailer, but way too heavy. Also horrible in cold weather..I still own my paslode cordless and it works great ,but the smell and cold weather affect it.....

..........my 3 DeWalt cordless nailers are not perfect ,but , for my deck company I have had almost no issues or jambs since they came out. (3yrs ?) I shoot 3 1/4 ( hot dip galv) full head , .131 diameter smooth shank...(paslode) how many nails? 3000/4000 a week..150000/ 200000 a year....(x3yrs)

.....we shoot into  pressure treated frames (2x10 joists, rim, beams) ACQ wood, 6x6 pt posts , 6x8/10 beams..very very few jambs and nearly All nails sink or I wouldn't use them. ..

Also when using pt decking 5/4x6,  we use paslode 2 3/8" (.113 diameter) and the gun will bump fire damn fast and sink them all ...

.....I don't recommend it for LSL,PSL,LVL beams, even a new Hitachi pneumatic at 120 psi has trouble sinking nails...we use high pressure guns and compressor..MAX high pressure compressor$2000, MAX 130 nailers $1500 each...work great but very expensive...

  6. @method...the 12ah is better on runtime , obviously , but I'd swear More Powa....I personally have 8 of the 12ah.....at work we have 16..of them....I can say I won't buy a bigger ( physically) or heavier battery ..(I Know it's the same size as the 9ah)

......the 12ah is /4ah right? For framing with the 575 and 577 it allows you to just need 2 batteries per saw( one charging)....but... a 15ah /5ah ? would be almost all day on 1 battery...if they make one.....

......any bigger or heavier and we wont buy them..,. hopefully the batteries will get smaller and more Powerful....

  7. Framing mitre saw? What's that?...we use mitre saws just like finish Carpenters. We cut trim, moldings ,case doors, intricate exterior detail work on homes....the same mitre is used for rough framing only thing different is the blades.......but it has to be a good saw...we use flexvolt because it's cordless and no power on site but for years before we used corded DeWalt sliding mitres, very job tough saws...

  8. The compact 3ah work well.. runtime is what you expect,I have a lot so it's not a problem..on all the cordless sanders the bigger batteries are not ideal... except.festool which of course is the best...but I need jobsite DeWalt cordless so it does the job.

  9. He's getting better, he's very bias to the flexvolt line, but unwilling to say Milwaukee did the same thing with HD tools needing a 12ah battery for performance.....

The test are ok, I've corresponded with him about not pointing out flaws in Makita or Milwaukee tools but hammering DeWalt....

...I think workshop addict does great reviews as does real tool reviews, oz tools is good too...

....if you watch Rob's tests and add up the scores based on performance not the added in "opinion points"  then not bad..... example..he just did the hammer drill test , guess what gen 3 tool won by 1 point over the 4 yr old DeWalt 996..? He just can't quite give DEWALT the win most times...  @Jronman

  10. @Mordekyle..I wouldn't say , everyone, here is a diy or that CD has more experience then everyone here....

.......as a Framing Contractor building custom waterfront homes for 34 yrs (running 3 framing companies) and owning  a custom deck company (2 crews) for 32 yrs , I'd say I'm more then qualified , considering I own tens of thousands of dollars of tools from each brand ,DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Hilti,Bosch, Festool, Hitachi,.. including  the latest models,  ...that are used not just 5-6 days a week but 7 days a week.....

....some guys on here are insiders with new tool news, some with vast experience, some funny, but usually theres always something to learn....

  11. I have this 334b it's 100% better then the DEWALT 20v brushed..very compact, much more than the Milwaukee or Makita. It is as good as the Bosch but not as good as my Festool cordless...

....smooth, powerful, and made with metal ,( front, levers, housing)not all plastic like the Milwaukee.... Nothing compares to my mafell..

.........having this jigsaw ( bought the barrel grip too, Tool nut) the cordless sander and  cordless router , FINALLY completes my 20v line ,no more cordless Ridgid router.and sander....

  12. @CityDecks...i don't know what brand  would sink that many 6" lags ..200-300 in high heat, Definitely not the 877....maybe bump up to a mid torque wrench or HD impact wrench.....

.....we use t40 flat head 5-7" lags (fastenmaster) into 3 or 4 or -5 ply engineered lumber beams...with the 899...no problems.....

.....I can't see any impact driver doing that for long... gotta be an impact wrench......love to know how it works out for you...
