If you want to take a chance, wait until after the holidays.  Most of the Black Friday and holiday specials go for insane clearance prices if you don't mind the risk of missing out on everything.

I'm not 100% sold on needing a drill because I can find most bits in hex shank for impacts, I might just choose to get a new brushless impact instead, so I'm not too worried about missing out on anything. I have my eye on the Makita XDT12 which won't go down past the $25 off deal Acme is currently running anyway.

these the kind of deals you find only in store? Will there be any that apply to online as well?

Last year I found a Makita 18v grinder in store for $50 after the holidays but online it was still at full price, so it's very much per store based on their stock and what they want to move to make room.

Excellent; do they work well? The cutters, especially, I am worried about, since they will dull quickly if they aren't hardened properly.

I don't use them every day but haven't noticed any issues with dulling of the cutters. The tongue and groove pliers are the ones I've used the most and they work really well every time, no complaints.

  3. I have Gearwrench tongue and groove pliers, needle nose pliers, and diagonal cutters, not the exact same models you have listed. I like them, easy on the hands even though mine are the standard red dipped grips but the ones you linked to should be just as comfortable if not more so.

$99 Makita Impact or Drill kit sale is back again this year. I guess a lot of people jumped on them last year.

Hmm, a single BL1830B Makita battery retails for $99, wonder what I could get for the tool and charger on eBay, might be a reasonable way to get a couple more batteries for a good deal.

Edit: $22, if the impact and charger can be sold for the price that I see them selling for on eBay (111 impacts sold at $50, and 70 chargers sold at $27) then each 3.0 battery would end up costing me around $22.

  5. Anyone bought the M18 7" Polisher as a bare tool? Trying to find out if it comes with the bail handle like the kit with pads does. Milwaukee's website is kind of off on the product pages. It says the basic kit and bare tool both come with two polishers and two backing pads which leads me to believe that something wasn't entered correctly. Either that or the bare tool is a hell of a deal.

  6. Good guess, but not the item in question since they don’t have a cordless Domino. I don’t think a cordless version would be practical since they’d price it at almost $2,000.

    More Hints:

This tool helps in a bind, but there’s a split about whether it even makes sense to own one.

  7. Sorry for the delay in getting a question posted, been busy with work.

This tool is 18v, it cuts and has a fence but is not a saw, and it moves at 6500 RPM.

I would like the brand and tool or model number. More hints if there are incorrect guesses.

i have that sprayer. i used it to paint my house a few years ago. i would buy the armor seal as well for when it is not in use. I lent mine to my neighbor after 2 years of non use and it worked just fine. it can be a little finicky but its a good sprayer for the price.

That's good to know, I expect this to get a lot of use initially but then probably get used maybe once a quarter after that so I'll have to pickup some armor seal. I've got shutters, doors, and bedrooms to paint so I figured this was a better option than one of the cordless ones so I'm not filling the little bucket every 5 minutes.

    leather shoes or boots

Ah, that's something I hadn't thought of, I'll have to get a good pair of leather boots.

DO NOT WEAR ANY FORM OF POLYESTER/NYLON ETC. STICK TO AT LEAST COTTON AND LEATHERS, IDEALLY FR RATED. IF IT CAN MELT, IT WILL

I think all of my clothing is cotton but I'll pick up FR rated clothing and a welding jacket too, I'd rather opt for more safety than chance it.

Spend the $70 and get an autodarkening helmet

Autodarkening all the way, I already have to wear glasses I'm not going to risk going blind to save a few bucks.

While you may not like the thought of the stick welder, it is actually easier to learn than mig, and you do not really have to keep a bunch of rods on hand, limiting any loss.

Hmm, that might change my mind then because they seem to have higher duty cycles, are cheaper than comparable Mig machines,  and a lot of them also support Tig. If I can pick up a reasonably priced 120v Stick/Tig machine to learn on I can and probably would upgrade it once I get the garage electrical upgraded with 240 this coming spring. That would probably be the best time to buy a Mig machine because I could go 240 only and get a higher duty cycle.

  10. I’ve been interested in welding for a few years now but have been putting off actually doing anything because of machine costs and a general lack of time. I’m finally ready to actually put in the time and money, but could use some information.

What type of welding would you suggest someone new learn?

I’m leaning towards Mig because it seems like the easiest on the hands since it feeds through a gun and all of the videos on Mig welding say it’s pretty easy to do with enough practice. It also has the benefit of letting me use shielding gas or skipping it and using flux core.

Stick welding really doesn’t appeal to me because there are so many types of electrodes, if you want the electrodes to perform at their best people say to buy a rod oven, and it just looks clunky like trying to sign your name while holding the very backend of a giant novelty pen.

Tig welding seems interesting, but also confusing because of lift start, high frequency, pulse, and AC/DC.

What are your thoughts on the Everlast Power i-Mig 140E?

    http://www.everlastgenerators.com/product/mig/power-i-mig-140e

It’s the Mig machine I’m leaning towards because it’s inexpensive and I’ve seen a lot of people use Everlast machines recently. All I have to do to use flux core is install different rollers. It runs on 120v and sounds like a good starter machine based on their recommended uses.

What do you wear to weld?

I see people wearing helmets, gloves, and welding jackets while others seem to skip the jacket for long sleeves and maybe a leather apron. I would assume jeans are probably the go to for pants.

Ive put in both the name and Dewalt part number with no luck on the HD website.

It's not showing up as available, Google has a result for it at Home Depot's website but clicking on the link just leads to a "The product you are trying to view is not currently available." page.

This should be the product page for it, but not sure when or if it will actually show up on their site. https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-33-4-in-Folding-Work-Bench-DWST11556/301867227
