  2. I am in the market for a track saw and have narrowed it down to the Makita or Dewalt (can't justify the cost of the Festool). I have read the million or so online threads on these saws and watched Youtube videos and I am still confused about track length. I want to be able to break down 8' sheet stock as well as cutting a straight edge on thicker 8' lumber (5/4 and sometimes 6/4). The Dewalt has a 102" track and some reviews wish it was a bit longer as it is said that the saw nearly disengages as it reaches the end of the 8' cut. Is this really a problem? Can I cut FULL depth for an 8' length? The Makita has a 118" track and I presume is enough length to support the saw for the full 8' length at full depth. True? Given the longer track length, will this saw cut longer than 8', say 8'2" or 8'3" and stay fully engaged on the track? That would be nice as a lot of rough lumber comes slightly longer than 8'. One problem I am having with the 118" is storage in my modest sized shop. As I have 9' ceilings, I could store the 102" Dewalt rail vertically against a wall, however the Makita rail would require horizontal storage which is in short supply in my shop. Any thoughts on storing these longer rails? I would also consider purchasing two shorter rails and connecting when needed, however I foresee a hassle with alternating between long cuts requiring connecting the rails and crosscuts needing only one rail. Thoughts about this? Any input would be appreciated.

  4. Hello all. In installed a metal roof about four months ago over an existing shingled roof with fir straps 24" on center. On two occasions now the roof has leaked. The first time was when we got our first dusting of snow last month. Today was the second time. It's been below freezing for the last week or so and today it's around 40. The room where it leaks has a cathedral ceiling with 2 x 8 rafters so there is 7" max for insulation. I am thinking the heat loss is escaping and hitting the back of the freezing metal creating a lot of frost and when it warms above freezing like today it drips creating a leak in the house. Do you agree or am I missing something? The first leak was on one side of the room. Today it is two spots on the other side of the room opposite side of roof. There are no pipes or anything protruding through the roof in this room. roof replacement springfield va
  5. Hello all. Last night I got a call from my brother which make me hesitate now. He has a friend who has installed one 3 years before when NSW is on 60c+ buy back scheme. His friend had the 2kw system (Chinese panels and Chinese inverter) and so far the system has been working OK. The problem is not with the PV system itself, the problem came after one+ year that his roof start to leak. So far he has asked for 6 trads persons came to look at the problem, none of them can determine what is the cause, of course the problem is not fixed. He also called in the original installer but after inspecting the panels around he claimed it is not his installation that caused the problem. This friend also claimed 80% of his friends who had PV system installed have similar problems, often the leak happened not right after the installation but happened one year or later than one year. Could people who has your PV system installed one year or more share your experience? What did you do to safe guard this not happening? Besides installer selection which is decisive but hard to formula a good process, any technical issues also affecting it. e.g., could mounting kit used affecting it? How many ways of mounting panels on the roof? Which one is good or better/best? Do any of your contract has some clause to cover this kind of potential issues? If you do have, would you mind to share the content? Does any installer's insurance exist to cover this kind of potential issues?
  6. I have a Ryobi ryi2300bta generator that I'm trying to replace the carburetor. It was surging/pulsing so I initially took the carb apart and cleaned it with a spray cleaner only and put it back. It helped some but not perfect. So I decided to take it apart again now armed with a small strand of wire pilfered from some extra electrical wire to clean out the jets also. But after putting it back the second time. It leaks gas. I can kind of see where it leaks but not the exact area. not sure if a gasket is bad or I damaged something the second time. It's leaking at the carb outlet to the engine junction. Not coming from the bowl. I've taken things apart and reassembled mulitple times and still leaks at the same junction. maybe some little part fell out that I didn't notice. So I ordered a new carb from Amazon but it's not the exact one and with different gaskets. I think my model may have two different revisions. I have a new carb that looks the same on the way but no gaskets. I can find the "wrong" carb but same looking gaskets. Ryobi website is not too helpful as there are two part numbers associated with the carb. So amazon and web search gives both as fitting my model. no picture of the carb either if I were to order it from them. can't order new gaskets only. I included pics of the two carbs. Question -what is the second clear hose thingy for. (marked in the pic) The original doesn't have it. thanks
  7. Anyone got one? Model is DCPW550. I have plenty of 20v DeWalt tools, so plenty of batteries. No well/water at the hunting property other than what you bring. I am thinking it would be handy to spray off the tractor.
  8. sorry I'll share the pictures ASAP https://restonroof.com/silver-spring-md.php

  10. Our kitchen drain randomly clogged. My boyfriend put some egg shells in the garbage disposal, and for no reason it clogged it. We cooked taco meat the other night, and some of the fat got spilled down the sink, so I wonder if that is what clogged it. i sprayed really hot water down the drain when it happened. I don't know. this was like 2 days ago. ANYWAY, i was a @#$%&, and we poured some drain cleaning solution ("The works" is what it was called) down the drain without reading the whole label. It says don't use it on garbage disposals. did i just screw up my garbage disposal? will i need a new one? how can i fix it? Thanks so much!

  12. I was given five big boxes of this hickory hardwood flooring scraps it’s pure hardwood the person I got it from said he used it in his smoker he doesn’t smoke anymore so he gave it to me is there any issues with using this? I did burn some last night and it seem to burn clean and hot no sap or chemical seem to burn off.
  13. Just got done a Master Bath remodel. Gutted everything to the studs. There was 3 floors all built on each other that had to be broken out. Installed a new window. Built in a bench in the shower. Insulated everything. Re-did all the electric, added outlets, lighting. Had to repair some rotted wood. Install new electric baseboard heater. Moved plumbing from one side of existing shower to the other side. Tiled the entire bathroom. Full tile in shower and half wall outside of shower. Still waiting for frameless doors to come in. New toilet, vanities, sink. And I would say I lost roughly a week between the plumber doing his work and the drywall guys doing their work. My wonder is how long it normally would take to do this job completely. I did it by myself 75% of the time and the rest of the time I had a helper to do some things that didn't require any skill. It took me exactly 4 weeks. Bathroom is roughly 11' deep and about 6 foot wide with the first 3 feet of it only 3 foot wide (basically a little walkway into the room). Is that way too long or am I on pace. If that's way too long, what can I do scheduling wise to make the next one go faster.
