DEWALT® Presents 2011 Knockout Challenge to Promote the Saul “Canelo†Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes Championship Boxing Match.

TOWSON, Md. (May 5, 2011) – Today, DEWALT announces the launch of its 2011 Knockout Challenge. The Challenge includes a series of competitions that will take place at selected Home Depot stores nationwide from May 5 – June 17, 2011, which will help to promote the DEWALT and Golden Boy Promotions-sponsored WBC Light Middleweight Championship fight between Saul “Canelo†Alvarez and Ryan Rhodes on June 18 in Guadalajara, Mexico. DEWALT’s partnership with Golden Boy Promotions is part of the company’s strategy to engage with professional contractors on and off the jobsite.

At each Challenge Event, participants will compete in driving screws into a challenge surface. The person with the fastest time at each event will be the winner of the Challenge, and will receive a “Fight Prize Package,†which includes a pair of DEWALT boxing gloves signed by legendary boxer Oscar De La Hoya, a DEWALT 12 Volt MAX* 1-1/4†Impact Driver Kit (DCF815S2), and a DEWALT/Golden Boy T-shirt. The Fight Prize Package is valued at approximately $479. The Challenge, which will run up until the fight, is free to enter and open to legal U.S. residents over the age of 18. Other restrictions apply. For details, see the official Rules and Regulations at www.dewalt.com/knockout.

“We’re happy to once again be working with Golden Boy Promotions in sponsoring a world class fight featuring a rising star in Saul “Canelo†Alvarez,†said Hector Vallejo, multicultural marketing manager, DEWALT. “We’re also excited to engage with our end users at Home Depot locations around the country for our 2011 Knockout Challenge. This will be a great way to generate attention around the fight and allow professional contractors to get their hands on our newest power tools and win some exciting prizes.â€

DEWALT has partnered with Golden Boy Promotions as part of its marketing platform of co-sponsoring multiple fights and boxing series. Last September DEWALT sponsored a bout between “Sugar†Shane Mosley and Sergio “Latin Snake†Mora at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

“DEWALT is truly a great company and partner that cares about the sport of boxing and its fans,†said De La Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions. “We’ve worked with DEWALT for a number of years now, and they’ve shown a strong commitment to the sport. The 2011 Knockout Challenge will only help to generate more exposure around this exciting fight.â€

HBO will air the fight live on Saturday, June 18, 2011.
