PH1
Hi there, I just signed up on this forum. I just saw Bosch has announced a 6.3 Ah 18V (20Vmax) battery. Their current highest capacity option is 6.0 Ah. The new battery will be named Bosch GBA 18 V 6.3 Ah EneRacer Professional. Bosch was the first power tool company to come out with a 6.0 Ah battery last year. Just like Bosch, Metabo is also a front-runner in bringing out the highest capacity power tool battery packs and is the current 18 V fat pack leader with 6.2 Ah. Milwaukee also has an 18 V; 9.0 Ah "mega fat" battery pack, but that is with 5s3p cells instead of the usual 5s2p cell configuration used in all regular 18 V fat packs. 18 V slim packs use a 5s1p cell configuration. Toolguyd article including video demo from the Bosch Blue Innovation Summit 2016: http://toolguyd.com/bosch-connected-18v-cordless-power-tools/#comment-801003 Press release - Bosch Power Tools relies on connectivity: http://www.bosch-presse.de/presseforum/details.htm?txtID=7664&tk_id=112&locale=en Quote The latest example of innovative cordless technology from Bosch is the high-performance battery GBA 18V 6,3 Ah EneRacer Professional, which will be available from autumn 2016. An improved power connector within the cells ensures lower internal resistance, which means that higher currents can be drawn from the cells over a longer time. The result is an increase in available power in a compact battery.

Those will be the future 1 more year And every brand will have the i guess

Thesame ones used in the Tesla cars. Tesla has not used 20700 cells for any of their cars (or power walls) yet. Tesla Roadster, Model S and X all use standard size 18650 cells. The cheaper Model 3 will however use 20700 cells when it goes into production. Tesla confirmed just last week that the Giga Factory will manufacture a new 20700 cell format: http://cleantechnica.com/2016/06/06/5-billion-tesla-gigafactory-worth-50-billion-analyst-estimates/ Quote “At the annual shareholder meeting on May 31, Tesla announced that its battery output potential could triple to nearly 105 gigawatt-hours of battery cells and gigawatt hours of battery packs for energy storage. Combined, that is nearly three times the total production of lithium ion batteries in the entire world. Musk also noted that the battery plant will also be updating the form factor of its existing cylindrical Li-ion cell that carries a 18 mm diameter and 65 mm height better known as an 18650 to a larger diameter and taller 20700 cell (20 mm dia x 70 mm height).” Tesla currently use Panasonic NCR18650B cells for both Model S and X. John Glassey
I just took the @metaboNAmerica plunge and got the cordless grinder and quick drill and hammer drill and the 1/2" high torque impact wrench. Still a few more on the list. Love these tools so far.

PH1
Pictures of the new Bosch EneRacer GBA 18V 6.3 Ah battery pack that use 20700 cells instead of the usual 18650 cells, just like the Metabo LiHD battery packs. Dimensions: 18650 cells: diameter 18 mm; length 65 mm. 20700 cells: diameter 20 mm; length 70 mm. Tesla will also switch from 18650 cells to 20700 cells for the upcoming Model 3. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk I wouldn't be surprised. Laser welding is the fastest, and lowest energy method but only works on some batteries.
