  1. There's a lot more evidence on the contrary. It doesn't look anywhere near a 12" blade. It would ring true with the other flexvolt tools given that the 12" mitre saw is 2x batteries (and I'll wager even hard woods are softer than concrete and steel rebar). The video I've posted of the guy in the dewalt shirt next to the dewalt saw stood in a DeWalt booth said it's not 12". I think it's a big reach to suggest this saw will be a 12"(let's not kid ourselves by saying we can't be sure what the demo model is, we know it's not 12"). It's either hinting at another model in development and a couple of bodies were assembled at the same time or an error happened in marketing.
  2. What are you talking about? Have you even read anything I've said about it looking too bulky and gimmicky when it could have just been based on a grinder design? I don't think you have. Well the thread is in reference to photos from that show, not what your rep told you today.
  3. You're completely glossing over what I'm saying. They could have made a 9" flex volt grinder and sold a guard with a hozenlock type water feed attached, no problem. There's no need for the bulky body and handle to make it look like your perception of a concrete saw. While it's got the water feed, why not make an attachment that is a complete cowl for dry plunge cutting or wall chasing? Grout removal? Vacuum attachments? For a cordless saw it would be nice to use cordless vacs. They'll have to offer a pressurised water vessel like Hilti and Stihl do otherwise you're still tethered to a mains water feed. This is why I'm saying it's gimmicky. I'm sure the tool itself will perform brilliantly, they're just on a single track with it which I think is a shame. Naturally I'm sure the core flexvolt users will buy it without question because that's what they do. Unquestionable brand devotion in most cases blind the buyer from seeing alternative possibilities of flaws. I'm guilty of it in cases too so I'm not pointing the finger.
  4. I don't associate flexvolt tools with concrete cutting and coring. I don't associate groundwork with joinery or carpentry. As I said. It's gimmicky.
  5. Can't see it taking off. Stihl who are pretty much a house hold name of concrete saws have been doing a battery powered model for years. I've still not seen one other than in catalogues. Given its just a 9" grinder built to look like a 'stihl' saw, they'd have been better making a 9" grinder look like a 9" grinder, then offer concrete cutting accessories. Just comes across as gimmicky.
  6. More fool the guy leaving his tools in a van thinking they're safe. I'm talking from experience. You're right in this instance but I don't think that's the intention. It's more common now to just steal the van contents included rather than spend time breaking into one.
  7. Once they're all sync lock enabled or the possibility of they're useless to anyone without the controller. Thieves aren't stupid and an item that doesn't work doesn't sell so why risk jail for what 'could be'.
  8. Tools don't hold money as well as the batteries do. You can sell a second hand battery that's well used (here in the UK at least) for almost as much as it was new. Some people thing a £5/£10 saving is better than a 3 year warranty in a professional environment would you believe. Tools that look well used regardless of age generally go for a fraction of the original price. I've known people have their tool bags and boxes turned over and the only things that have gone missing are batteries and lasers because they're the smallest items to carry and fetch the most money. Thieves know it. Not sure if it worth the cost if you only have a handful of batteries but it might be a consideration when you're at say 1:10 the cost against batteries. I wouldn't be leaving it in the site box though. If I were a thief that would be gone too.
  9. I don't think any amount of setting up is going to fix that.
  10. As much Makita as I have and I have had mitre saws from Makita in the past, I wouldn't buy one now. They just don't scream accuracy at me and now it seems it's becoming plain to see.
  11. I've had the same problems with other models. Doesn't really bother me.
  12. It's a vague statement. 'They last me until X point of the day' doesn't really account for anything. All down to what you're doing and how many (screws) for example. A 5ah on my 285 impact wrench can last me a few days. On average that's the equivalent to fastening 250 M10 nuts and bolts to peak torque. I also use 5ah on my BL rotary with vac attached and that'll say do me a day which is maybe 40xM8x40mm in N40 concrete with say 10/20xM10x40mm too. Cold or hot climates can decrease performance. My batteries are a few years old with daily use. I make sure to run them all completely dead and charge them fully and leave them on the charger as long as possible after it says they're fully charged to encourage cell balancing.
  13. A friend of mine has the CXT one and swears by it.
  14. Just wondering how Delta haven't taken a hit from Bosch with this saw? It looks like they've taken the base and guard mechanics of the DeWalt Flexvolt/DWS780 12" mitre saw and the Bosch GDL arms and cobbled them together. About the same price as the Bosch too so why would this be any more appealing.
  15. It's a waste of time and money.
  16. Waste of time and money. I've been a vitim of tool theft and I've investigated. Your best line of protection is a robust insuarance police and paying attention to your gear. These tags aren't independent GPS devices and until that day comes, they're only as good as the cellphone they're linked to.
  17. Likely Story. Must cost him a fortune in alternators. Or does he just not use his lights?
  18. Had two for 12 months under daily usage without any problem.
  19. Easier to buy a new jigsaw
  20. The tools were there but not loaded with batteries and they were funny about me taking batteries off tools. I even got a funny look when I pulled a tape measure out of my pocket to measure up the mitre saw. I don't think they're comfortable at all with the speculation.
